    I think a lot of people are missing the point. 30 days isn't a lot, but doing something constantly for a month can create habits. It's not that they specifically wanted to show bodily change, what I got from this is that both wanted to try to just create the habit of going which is half the battle for many people. Good video!

      Yes! I've been doing this with junk foods to control certain cravings, and it has helped tremendously! They say it only take 21 days to break a habit, or start a healthy habit!

    • @Pottan23
      @Pottan23 6 років тому +1

      You need to do something consistently for 10 weeks (on average) to create a habit, and working out for 30 days straight with no rest day isn't a good way to go about it either.

      Honestly the problem is all of the BS that exists online wrt form, how every exercise under the sun is "killing your gains". I wouldn't blame someone to give up halfway through one Jeff Nippard video (Btw, I love Jeff's videos and learn a lot from them, but if you're a rank beginner, this is way too much info/detail). All of the popular youtube fitness guys have to oversell their stuff with 'science-based' workouts and plug their protein powders/supplements/fitness app.
      What they should do instead is sell the idea that in your newbie gain phase, just show up, eat well and lift. You'll get stronger really really fast. It almost doesn't matter what you do as long as you do it consistently. Other than that, 1-2 minute videos on form for the main compound exercises and like a 3 day/week workout plan would be perfect for complete beginners.
      The only reason I know what I'm doing is that I was a varsity/college athlete and I've done the big compound movements (bench, squat, deadlift, OHP) since high school.

      That's what annoyed me about the girl. She doesn't like working out on her own because she doesn't know what to do... So get a personal trainer (just for a week even). Have them give an orientation on all the equipment and some tips on working out. Or I don't know, google it, there are all sorts of exercises and workouts online!!
      Although I do understand how working out in a class and with a friend(s) can be more fun than working out alone.

    Staying home from the gym is the right thing to do when you're sick, because the gym has so much shared equipment; if you touch that equipment with germy hands, you're unintentionally sharing your germs with everyone else at the gym as well.

    I don't understand why everyone is picking on the chick. You're not always going to be excited or happy about a workout. That's where the commitment and discipline steps in. That's why so many people are out of shape now. They think you have to be motivated to workout or have to do certain types of workouts for it to count. The best workout is the one you'll do. Dance is as valid a form of gym workout as weightlifting, running on the treadmill, swimming , kickboxing, yoga or whatever other classes your gym offers. Plus people who are completely new to working out should start a bit slower and focus on building good habits. You start with too much too fast and you'll turn into every new years resolution gym goer that signs up for a boot camp way above their current fitness level and ends up quitting before Valentines day. The guy clearly had a lot previous fitness experience so of course his goals were clearer and his workouts splits made more sense and he understood the importance of nutrition.

I would get anxiety attacks in the beginning (and still do here and there until i actually start my workout) and i realized it was because i didnt have a plan. Having your workout planned ahead of time really gives you something positive to focus on.

    I work 40 hours a week, Coach 3 softball teams , and still make it to the gym 6 days a week. Time is not an issue, it’s motivation and what you prioritize... if you don’t prioritize the gym you won’t go, which is fine if it’s not important to you... but “ no time “ is a joke, between work and softball I’m busy 80+ hours a week and still find time.

    This video is so "two-sides-of-the-same-coin" thing. The stark difference in the two people's attitude is actually kinda interesting. Suddenly, there's a "representative" of people who just aren't that excited about gym and when even when they actually gave it a shot, they still didn't like it and this is actually cool. Because, not everyone _likes_ to go to the gym, and her reasons for originally not going to the gym or that were preventing her from going to the gym regularly are actually legit and I'm sure there are people who can relate to her a lot.
    Honestly, it's not a big deal if she wasn't as enthusiastic about this as the other one. It's not a big deal if she "half-assed" the challenge (and is it really fair to say she half-assed this when she did make significant efforts even though she didn't want to?), the other guy did it "seriously" anyway. This video is more like a case study than a comedy or 'feel-good' video, imo.
