I have been watching beginner videos to prepare for my first sailing class, this is by far the best video on sailing basics out there. Thank you so much for such quality video and clear explanation.
Have sailed 1000's of miles & I already know this stuff but haven't sailed for many years now. Seeing this makes me want to get a boat like this and just go weekend sailing. Lovely, calm, quality video 👌
I listen to a Ch 16 radio and all I hear is “I’m on a 24’ sailboat and my engine has died, can someone please tow me or help bc I’m drifting towards rocks now!” Or “mayday Mayday, my sailboat engine failed, I’m bout to hit something” then I hear the CG has to come rescue someone. Please always use sail or don’t rely on your engine bc it will break
Really great job teaching the basics of sailing! I've been sailing since the 1970's, and I learned on a 30' boat. Later when I went to a dingy, I found that learning on the dinghy is really imperative for understanding how to really fine tune sail trim, as you really get to feel every slight change through your fingers and seating position. What you are doing is fantastic as you demonstrate every point of sail and how your sails react in all situations, which will give confidence to anyone starting out even before they get on the boat. Well done!
I'm 62 and haven't sailed in almost 50 years and now want to get back in the seat. Best instructor and sailing video I've seen. . . . .just make the sails happy! Well done!
Short from not being able to see the wind as an visual element, I'm a newbie, at 51yrs old, so in my head whilst I have the principles and theories, and have watched many videos, this one video was really good as it was common repeated actions being undertaken and being clearly explained. Seeing how the boat and sails reacted and what happens during different points and positions of reaches, as well as when to be extra aware of the boom, what to do when there is too much wind/gust, when you're at risk of capsizing and what can be done to help prevent that (which apart from hitting another vessel or body boarder is one of my bigger fear as I'll always be solo), so I'll be watching and listening to this video quite a few times since the information within it is going to be very helpful as I learn and practice. Thank you so much Igor.

Nothing fancy, just the stuff that is IMPORTANT to know and pay attention to! Thank you so much Igor!❤
Super high quality video for anyone who wants to understand what it's like to be at the tiller/helm of a dinghy or small keelboat. Amazing setting and Igor is just perfect in his approach to share the joy of sailing. Tip of the hat sir!!
When I was a kid I used to go sailing with my father until we capsized one day and he got scared. Next week I’m going home and I’ll get that boat back on the lake. Thank you so much for this video! You reminded me how fun sailing is. Sending love from Romania 🤗
When I was eight, my Dad wanted to learn to sail, so he took classes and bought a small boat (Lone Star 13). Dad wanted to teach his sons as he gained experience, and so took my big brother and me out to the lake on many weekend days, and we learned to crew, and then to captain. I loved it. Earlier today, I was trying to recall what I had been taught to refer to running with the jib set opposite the main, but could not bring the term to mind. Split-helm, I think, or something very like that. I was even discussing it with Grok (AI) and it could find nothing other than Wing to Wing. I then started some video on sailing terms, but fell asleep, and woke to find this beginners lesson running. Apparently, my nautical brain had recovered in my sleep, and I (now a grumpy old man) was gruffly muttering, "Does no one use the word "luff" anymore?" By the time he said "shade," the second time, I was barking, "The jib is the lee of the main. IN THE LEE OF. Not shade, you infernal lubber!" I then strapped on my wooden leg, and hearing it was two bells in the dog watch, headed forward to gunroom for dinner with me mates. Aye, t'was a fine video.
Total newbie here and I enjoyed seeing the "what not to do" as much as the correct method. Particularly with a skill like sailing where you can get "good enough" results while still doing it incorrectly, it's quite useful to see the visuals of "ok" trim versus really good trim. Great video, packed with good info!
Thank you Igor for such a fantastic video 👏 Complete newbie at 52 and watched a lot of confusing videos, however this one was so clear and precise.. Also showing what happens when it's done incorrectly is such a great help.. You are an a bsolute star! 👍
When I was in grade school I had the opportunity to sail a Mayflower (like a beamy sunfish) at camp. Half a century later I have never had a chance to sail again but I never forgot the joy. Now as I am retiring I really want to get a sailing dinghy for my wife and I to do some lake sailing. Your video gives me confidence that I can do it again. It seems like the sloop rig is not that much harder than the single sail.

Hvala na ovom divnom, jednostavnom i pre svega edukativnom videu! Živ i zdrav bio!
Hvala 🙏
I've tried sailing twice, loved it, but was a bit scared: 21:43 "The question is when is it going to hit your head?!" And of capsizing. Superb instruction and photography Igor and what a beautiful location!
Thanks 🙏
Great informative video,l am a 70 year old who has not sailed since l was a child, and then I was only in control of the gib, you’ve relit the idea to give it another go 👍

Great video! Super helpful before a first sail.
Thanks 🙏🙌🍻
Me and my family are taking a sailing course next week. We try to prepare us a little bit. This is the best video because I understand most. Thank you very much!
Thanks 🙏
I don't know how to sail, but been on sail boat before.
I think, it is great video to learn how to sail on a small boat.
I all ways wanted to learn sailing, but never had the time or money.
Also, the energy, I'm T2 diabetic for the last 25 years.
One has to start young, is the best.
Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much. You made it feel very accessible, while also leaving the impression that A LOT of practice is needed for all of this to become second nature. Where you are sailing looks a bit like Lake Zurich. If that is where you are, we visit there sometimes. Perhaps we can go out on the water together.
Thanks 🙏 Austria
I've learned so much, easy to understand, good explanations, just : THANK YOU
Thanks 🙏
Nice to have you back Igor🏋🏻♀️🤟🏋🏻♀️
🙏🙌👍⛵️
Oh, great work! I am from Hong Kong and just start learning how to sail, well also picking up windsurfing at the same time😂, the previous sunday was my first time trying sailing, got hit by the mansail couple times, well we all wore a helmet anyway🤣. Found your clip is even better than our coach, more punchy and informative! And god, yours view is picturesque, wish one day I can come sailing there and maybe can be taught by you!
Thanks 🙏
I am gonna say one thing to describe my experience watching this whole video... "You're a really good teacher... 😅" Thank you for making this video... 😇
Thanks 🙏
