    Top video, done in a real world environment like most of us have to. No fancy hoist, no press, you’ve inspired me to get on and do mine.

    Thanks mate. That was a great help. I ended up popping down the road to a local (bush) garage to get that collar pressed back on, so it cost me a 6 pak, but that’s still pretty good value! Cheers.

    Howdy bro. Thanks for your post effort. I would of loved to have seen you put that bearing collar on after heating up the collar on an old iron and freezing the axle . Love the freezer idea while no one is looking . Big thumbs up.

      If you have a big enough freezer for the axle 2 hours in the freezer the heated collar just slides on with fingers no effort with a hammer and a pipe needed.

      Australian Ford's built reliable and simple to repair so if you get stuck outback you can get yourself unstuck.

    super helpful vid. dont need to do the bearings but last owner put the backing plate with the caliper bracket on the wrong way. caliper sits are the rear and not the front haha. looks like i just need to undo the 4 hex bolts and pull swing the plate around

    not bad , im doing one again two years later, the seal is weeping against the axle, amazed its that easy how you pushed the axle in, i always stress with any seals.

    • @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs
      @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs  10 місяців тому +1

      The seals in the kit I used are crap quality as mine have a small weep. Clean the housing up with turps and apply a super thin smear of rtv on half the outer edge of the seal to make a good seal.

      @@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs mine was leaking against the rotating axle, my freind a mechanic and mechanical engineer said , yeh the seals used to last 20 years and what he does which i saw him do years ago is before he installs shaft seals is he removes the internal seal spring tensioner and shortens it about 3mm he said when he does that he never gets leaks, he also said to put a NON silicone sealant on the outer seal surface before you install it SO here i go again LOL.

    When these go bad does it feel like the wheels are wobbling, because its not the wheels. And the wheels are not buckles

      Timken are the best. But if you don't plan on rebuilding both sides and the diff carrier bearings all at once and changing the diff oil the iron from the inner race I show in the video is floating around inside the diff damaging everything it doesn't just magically dissolve or disappear. That's why I use those cheap shity Chinese bearings as I only want the car to work for another year or 2. Any bearing that fails leaves little bits of iron floating around in the oil.

    When these fail will it cause a ting ting noise under acceleration and i changed my cat already ?

    My Au wagon is making a grinding noise from the Right rear wheel when I turn to the right only.
    Sounds like a metal on metal.
    Hope it's not a bearing or worst.
    Thanks for the video.

    do you know how many km those bearings had on them?

    • @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs
      @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs  Рік тому

      Au falcon wagon rear wheel bearings typically fail 290-315k, the iron that breaks off the inner race then floats around in the diff oil and takes out the carrier and pinon bearings at 360-370k
