I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!
Vojislav, may I say this was a SUPERBLY done review of the reMarkable digital writing/drawing pad, which I'm seriously considering purchasing. Just the right amount of detail, yet not overly technical. First time I've ever watched such a lengthy review of a digital device!. Well done!!
A fabulous overview of this device - one of the best from any reviewer I’ve seen. Your effort and thoroughness are not missed on this viewer. Thank you, sincerely.
A few questions remain: 1. In which way is the annotation saved, Embedded in the PDF? Can we share it with others? Can other programs open it? 2. Are the annotations editable after saving (some programs save them as single image per page) 3. Is the remarkable cloud necessary for data transfer between PC, Smartphone and the tablet? That would be a no-go for many business cases! 4. It is said the tips wear-out fast. Are those replaceable by locally sourced tips (e.g. wacom tips) 5. How open is the device, taken that it runs on Linux, could third-party developer create own applications? 6. Can someone tell us, how the device is recognized under Linux (e.g. a serial interface, ndis, etc.) Would be nice if you could help out and answer some of those questions.
Just received my new reMarkable and simply love it - just finished watching your 1 week, 1 month and in depth reviews - fantastic intro to using it - thank you - I have just subscribed to watch further updates from you !!
Thanks for spending time on such a detailed review! I pre-ordered this spring and should be able to get my device next month. I just can't wait to replace my thick heavy folders with this! I'm still a student so reading/marking/commenting academic papers and note taking take up most of my time, with some drawing/doodling too. I hope they can address the issues you found and update the software for a better interface (tap WiFi button to turn on/off maybe?). If they can make this thing compatible with other cloud storage (I use Dropbox) it'll be perfect.
Really good review. Best I've seen so far. In depth, to the point, honest and insightful. I am very much looking forward to getting mine delivered to me. Due to some delays I will have to be patient for up to four more weeks. Counting days now...
Your review is especially good because there is no device built in help menu so a buyer must go online to the Remarkable site or to your video to figure things out!
Thank you for your review, you are the first person to discuss the note taking function in depth. You have helped with my decision to purchase this device.
Terrific review! Thank you so much. The minute I saw the reMarkable offer back in January, I knew it was for me. I preordered immediately and have been eagerly looking for anything about it since. Now that it's almost in my hands, I came across your review. At first I felt I couldn't dedicate that much time, but decided to take a look. I'm very glad that I did. You covered everything so well that I'm sure I will feel comfortable with it immediately. Your enthusiasm for, and attitude about the item, made watching quite enjoyable. I could relate perfectly. And, as a cat person myself, that was just the icing on the cake, so to speak.
Thank you for this awesome overview. I am waiting to receive my new device and look forward to experiencing the use and growth I will experience because of it.
Thank you for that review 😊 especially when you pressed down that pen and did dotts. I got goosebumps. And then when your cat appeared I almost fainted. I have a cat and I completely understand this 😹. Love your review. Thanks a lot 🥰
Thank you so much for this review. Your calm and measured style - not to speak even of the cat 😍 - really made me yearn even more for the arrival of my order, and appreciate the specialness of the device.
Your video is so long I thought I was on a road trip! LOL. But your pacing and diction and writing is right on and everyone should see your review before buying one. Mine works as you say and thanks for covering the not so obvious things.
I can’t thank you enough for the video instructions. This has pushed me over the edge to actually purchase one. I’ve been on the fence for a few months now.
Amazing helpful review! Thank you for taking the time to fully review the capabilities, options and add your personal review. Very helpful as I wait for my device to arrive.
Thank you for this review it makes me even more eager to get mine. I'm pretty sure I will feel the same as you regarding the attachement to this device.
Great review and walkthrough. Thank you for such an in depth video. I have ordered a ReMarkable and suspect the firmware is currently considerably ahead of that demonstrated on your video and so, hopefully, any issues have been resolved.
That was a fantastic review and I now feel certain that my pre-order was a good investment. Delays in shipping aside, I feel Remarkable will be a great experience. Can't waint to draw on it, as that will be my main focus aside from writing notes and livestreaming mindmaps in my classroom.
Thanks! I just ordered mine. I do chemistry research and am still a lover of marking up paper copies of journal articles. I’m also environmentally conscious, so I hate printing out so much stuff. I find that when I have down time, I never have the right notebook with me (my organizational skills regarding physical objects are not the best). Excited to try this! I think they’ve fixed some of the issues you discuss. Again, thanks!
Hi there Vojislav! Really nice video. I have gotten my own Remarkable last week. Do you know if there's a way to make perfect straight lines on the Remarkable? Is there a ruler built-in function on the device?
Excellent review and demonstration, thank you! Mine is on its way but as I dread paying the import duty that I hadn’t counted on, I needed to know whether this is really worth the money.
Really nice to see it's a good product. Got afraid when they didn't release any for reviewers before the release. It's sad that batch 2 is delayed, i want my now!!
great in depth review! I'm also in batch #2, can't wait to get my hands on it! small question: is it possible to drop content on it just via your smartphone? without the use of a computer or laptop?
Great video!! I'm waiting for the second draft shift for the device. I have some. questions maybe you can answer Why do you need to replace the tips? And how often do you need to replace them? About uploading PDFs files, is it possible to download them through a university website for example directly to the device? Thank you in advance..
Thanks so much for this. I am part of batch 2 as well and I am pumped up about it. Quick question for you - the share? Does the device allow you to fire one off?
Thx for that detailed review! I am watching for the 3rd time now XD I preordered mine to ship in the second half of October...still four more weeks :/ I feel like I'll be watching a couple more times till my remarkable arrives...makes the wait feel shorter XD And your cat is gorgeous btw...:)
Thank you very much for your video! Again it was very interesting to watch and see all the different functions in action. Thank you for taking your time and making this! :)
First of all, this is incredibly useful! thank you for all the time you put into it! I am looking at this for use as a student. I want to view PDFs and textbooks as well as take notes and such. I am wondering whether the remarkable will be able to connect to my wifi network at school. It is a campus wide network that is called edu roam. It requires more than just a password to sign in for the first time. Do you know if remarkable would work with it? Second, if I mark a PDF will it keep the notes and highlights i made on the remarkable on the PDF? I know you said it would when using live mode but will it otherwise? Thank you so much!!
Your video should be part of the device BECAUSE I could hardly figure crap from their online help support. I like the product and thought of doing a review but after I saw your video I am sure I could not add anything basically because I am exhausted. LOL. I like your pacing and maybe think of adding a scream or too next time to break it up. Kidding.
I left mine plugged in all night and it charged to 100%. Then I unplugged the USB A end to charge my phone with another USB cable, leaving the white USB cable still plugged into the Remarkable. Went out shopping after I woke up. Came back, and battery was completely dead. Is that typical? I think Wifi was off too. It was shocking that I couldn't even turn on the device when I got back. I had to charge it again to even turn it on. Brand new device received yesterday.
Could the responsiveness-on-wifi issue be due to being on the same network as a computer where you have their desktop app installed? If you connect to your home network (where you were having the responsiveness issue) but disconnect your laptop / desktop / phone that has the reMarkable application on it, do you still experience the issue? Don't have mine yet, just curious. Useful review; thanks for posting!
I too noticed some connectivity issues with the house WiFi router that did not happen with the mobile WiFi. Probably something to do with distance from the device or interference with other devices. Thanks for the tip about getting the PDF support manual.
How does the display compare with a Kindle Paperwhite? How gray is it? If you have a paperwhite, it would be great if you could tell me the brightness setting on it which mimics the display of the rM... that would be a key factor in deciding my purchase. Thanks..
The Remarkable 1 is now on sale for $299 including the original Marker. How does it run with 2.6 Software? Seems for someone that is mainly interested in the note taking functionality this would be a decent unit.
Thanks for this very detailed review. I want to purchase a large screen e-ink reader and am hesitating between reMarkable and sony dpt-rp1. I usually need to read journal papers and some big reference books (more than 1000 pages). Is 10.3 inch screen large enough for a US-letter or A4 size journal papers? Also, can we use table of contents in reMarkable to jump to different chapters or sections?
Thanks for your reply. Though reMarkable is very good in drawing, I may choose Onyx boox max 2 or sony dpt for better hardware and reading experience. Thank you again for this video on reMarkable and your cat.
Very . good review. I received mine yesterday. I had a serious case of G.A.S watching the DHL tracking every few hours for almost 5 days. I love the product but I have a concern. On the first day I did a nice sketch of a vase and was planning to create a sketchbook. In attempting to create the book I somehow erased the art. Not a big loss but disappointing. Then I created a sketchbook with a nice title page and three drawings, a journal entry and a couple pages of penmanship practice. Looked like a precocious 10 year olds school notebook. It was charming. WAS charming. I somehow erased the book and all six pages. Is there any way to undo the erase in the case of an accidental eraser? I think a second stage "Are you sure?" might be helpful. Perhaps on the laptop backup the software could say something like since last access these 6 pages were deleted is that right? You could have the option of reversing. It seems too easy to accidentally erase. Have you discovered an undelete or access to recycle bin? Great product and very nice review. Thanks for the time.
Vojislav Dimitrijevic Jojislav thank you for replying. Perhaps the Remarkable team may consider a recycle bin in the cloud or on the tablet. That would be a good solution. If it as easy to permanently erase a document by simply picking up the tablet by the top right hand corner in my opinion the unit is too risky for really important stuff. Still this is early. The product is revolutionary and wonderful. I hope the team is listening.....regards.
Hi Vojislav.Ive watched a number of remarkable videos that you have done. Thankyou, very well explained. Ive ordered a remarkable 2, which should be with me at around August. If you do buy a remarkable 2, and carry out a review, then can you do a review with the pad facing the camera please. My neck is sore, due to having to bend it so that i can see what you are talking about. :-) Many thanks . Billy (UK)
great review, you got deep in many helpful details.can it be connected via bluetooth to a computer and all you write on the tablet will be shown simultaneously on the computer screen? Can you also make a review of....Maca?:)
Have you tried exporting a drawing to see how the conversion from e-ink to digital image file holds up? I'm super curious how this will work as a sketchpad, then using the sketches as a starting point for further finishing on PC. Thanks for posting this review!
This review was enhanced 1,000,000% by the arrival of your cat. My pre-order puts me in batch #2 so hopefully my reMarkable will be here in a couple of weeks. After watching your review I'm really looking forward to getting it now :-) BTW, my cat says hello to your cat... ua-cam.com/video/1w31vVuW90E/v-deo.html
Cheers... Looks like we share some common interests (another synth freak here too..). In fact, a friend of mine did all the DeepMind factory patches in bank B..
Cats! facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155072376249506&set=a.10153316941539506.1073741828.534709505&type=3&theater And yes I am also waiting for my batch. I think with the first round of feedback on software it will be really good. Typically the zooming workflow could have a revamp. And yes please add smudge when the pen is out of EMR range (in range palm rejection of course)
Good sir, thanks for your excellent review! About the wifi connection: try to turn off the DHCP and use a manual ip setting if it's possible with reMarkable. Your problem might have something to do with ip6.
Quick question, can I select an area from one page of a PDF, and paste to a different page of a PDF? Also, can I add new blank pages to a PDF using one if the provided page templates? My thinking is to buy one of these for math, physics, and chemistry, where my homework is provided in a PDF with a long list of questions. I want to select a question and copy it to the clipboard, then add a new page to the PDF and paste just that question to a new page and work the problem. When I'm done, I would have a long PDF with every problem on it's own page or multiple pages if required...
Hi Vojislav, thanks for posting this fantastic review (and gorgeous video of Marca!). I'd love to see / know a little about how easy it is to move documents (pdf's) onto and notes, drawings etc off of Remarkable? What software & options do you have for this - e.g. Phone with app and/or PC with software?
A lot of people compare this to an Ipad Pro. Don't. There is a subtleness and crispness to the e-ink display that an LCD display simply cannot compete with. Video's don't do it justice, this is an amazing display when viewed without a camera.
I am learning german at the moment and take a lot of notes daily. A problem is if we return or keep working later with a type Grammatik of then there is so many pages between my notes on the same subject. Would it be possible to create loner chapters/Dokuments on this pad to keep all that together? Would you recommend this for use in lectures and note taking in school?
I’m a therapist, is this Hipaa compliant? Or have a secure encryption? I emailed customer service, but waiting to hear back. Also if I transfer a blank client assessment, can I use the pencil to fill in and will the typed form move with the pencil client notes?
Vojislav Dimitrijevic hi, yes customer service got back to me and this device is not HIPAA compliant and has no added encryption. But if you don’t connect it to WiFi then you don’t have to have any added protection. But that also restricts the use of the tablet. I could transfer documents via USB to bypass WiFi. I’m still considering this tablet though. The tablet really looks amazing and so much better then my current app called Insight notes on my iPad.
thank yuo for the video and the cat..I have two questions. how can I load e-books or files? only thru desk top? and the second one is how to upload or update ipad or i phone for the last documents created in remarkable?thanks
I wonder if it will make a difference if they would've put a quad core cpu and 1 gb of RAM , like the sony ereader . It is a really nice e-reader though .
Just wondering how good your battery is, cause my remarkable 's battery is drained very fast. Only after 3 hours use, my battery is drained from 100% to 32%
Any idea why they didn't allow for uploading to your cloud of choice - say OneDrive or Dropbox? My whole digital life is backed up on dropbox. I'd hate to have to move stuff over to another cloud or have documents doubled up on two clouds, different versions etc etc
Curious if you have found a way to cut and paste between different pages? I have queried the reMarkable team but no response. Love the device but I haven't been able to figure this out yet.
Hallelujah! A video review with a time-indexed table of contents.
Amen to that. Wish everyone did indexed TOC.
Vojislav, may I say this was a SUPERBLY done review of the reMarkable digital writing/drawing pad, which I'm seriously considering purchasing. Just the right amount of detail, yet not overly technical. First time I've ever watched such a lengthy review of a digital device!. Well done!!
This was amongst the best reviews I've ever seen - remarkable should sponsor you the v2 for all your effort
A fabulous overview of this device - one of the best from any reviewer I’ve seen. Your effort and thoroughness are not missed on this viewer. Thank you, sincerely.
A few questions remain:
1. In which way is the annotation saved, Embedded in the PDF? Can we share it with others? Can other programs open it?
2. Are the annotations editable after saving (some programs save them as single image per page)
3. Is the remarkable cloud necessary for data transfer between PC, Smartphone and the tablet? That would be a no-go for many business cases!
4. It is said the tips wear-out fast. Are those replaceable by locally sourced tips (e.g. wacom tips)
5. How open is the device, taken that it runs on Linux, could third-party developer create own applications?
6. Can someone tell us, how the device is recognized under Linux (e.g. a serial interface, ndis, etc.)

Hey Deyu Rao!
I just wanted to know how you like your remarkable as I think about getting the V2 for my studies! Cheers
Really good review. Best I've seen so far. In depth, to the point, honest and insightful. I am very much looking forward to getting mine delivered to me. Due to some delays I will have to be patient for up to four more weeks. Counting days now...
Great review, I have pre-ordered remarkable 2 and hopefully you did as well, looking forward for the second review.
I did too and am eagerly awaiting it. I'm in the July batch, so some more time left...
Your review is especially good because there is no device built in help menu so a buyer must go online to the Remarkable site or to your video to figure things out!
Thank you for your review, you are the first person to discuss the note taking function in depth. You have helped with my decision to purchase this device.
Is there a template that follows the Cornell Notes / Focus Note layout?
The best comprehensive and informative review of the remarkable tablet.
Terrific review! Thank you so much. The minute I saw the reMarkable offer back in January, I knew it was for me. I preordered immediately and have been eagerly looking for anything about it since. Did you get to use it? I just won the auction for it today on ebay, looking forward to it
Thank you for that review 😊 especially when you pressed down that pen and did dotts. I got goosebumps. And then when your cat appeared I almost fainted. I have a cat and I completely understand this 😹. Love your review. Thanks a lot 🥰
Awesome video!!! I was excited to buy, then saw some other videos that made me reconsider. But now I am excited again. ha ha.
VERY impressive, comprehensive, objective and enjoyable presentation. BEST I have witnessed in a very long time! Congratulations and THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this review. Your calm and measured style - not to speak even of the cat 😍 - really made me yearn even more for the arrival of my order, and appreciate the specialness of the device.
Fantastic review. Thank you for taking the time to put together such a comprehensive and we'll narrated video. The cat was just a plus.
Between your Extensive Feature Overview and MorningCoach's 'Notetaking' 3-way Tablet Quick Comparison Review, I am sold on the reMarkable
Many thanks for this detailed review; it was just what I was looking for. I've now subscribed to your channel and ordered the Remarkable!
I love mine. Easy to use. Excellent at marking up documents and note taking.
It is great that you left Maka in the video.
Remarkable review. Impressive details. Thank you so much for the chapters and time breakdown too.
Terrific video. So incredibly helpful. Thank you very much. (And I loved the arrival of your cat!)
love the help on reMarkable, and the kitty too!
Amazing helpful review! Thank you for taking the time to fully review the capabilities, options and add your personal review. Very helpful as I wait for my device to arrive.
Great review. Thanks for doing such an in-depth video. Looking forward to receiving mine soon.
Thank you for this review it makes me even more eager to get mine. I'm pretty sure I will feel the same as you regarding the attachement to this device.
Just waiting forma mine! I don't know what batch I'm in, ordered Jan 15. By now yours is the best review.
Received and great!
@@DitasVeg how about a year later?
@@isaachaze1 Couldn't be better. Received all the updates.
Amazingly informative and fun review. Thank you and pets for the cat!

Hi there Vojislav! Really nice video. I have gotten my own Remarkable last week. Do you know if there's a way to make perfect straight lines on the Remarkable? Is there a ruler built-in function on the device?

Hi Vojislav. I`ll look forward to your review :-)
great review, you got deep in many helpful details.can it be connected via bluetooth to a computer and all you write on the tablet will be shown simultaneously on the computer screen? Can you also make a review of....Maca?:)
Did the problem fix? Could it be the channel your router is on?
Have you tried exporting a drawing to see how the conversion from e-ink to digital image file holds up? I'm super curious how this will work as a sketchpad, then using the sketches as a starting point for further finishing on PC. Thanks for posting this review!
as far as ive read the drawings are vectors, which basically means that you can export them to whatever quality you want.
same question
plz trie exporting a drawing and notes with template to see how the conversion from e-ink to digital
THanks. I'm very courious about that too. When will you make the second video?. Thank you again ;)
@@MyDeepGuide Do it! Just do it and report back or we will come for you Sir. :)
This review was enhanced 1,000,000% by the arrival of your cat. My pre-order puts me in batch #2 so hopefully my reMarkable will be here in a couple of weeks. After watching your review I'm really looking forward to getting it now :-)
BTW, my cat says hello to your cat...

Cheers... Looks like we share some common interests (another synth freak here too..). In fact, a friend of mine did all the DeepMind factory patches in bank B..

And yes I am also waiting for my batch. I think with the first round of feedback on software it will be really good. Typically the zooming workflow could have a revamp. And yes please add smudge when the pen is out of EMR range (in range palm rejection of course)
time stamp for said cat please lol

Fantastic review. A very nice reviewer. Very articulate associated with smiles.
Good sir, thanks for your excellent review!
About the wifi connection: try to turn off the DHCP and use a manual ip setting if it's possible with reMarkable. Your problem might have something to do with ip6.
Hi sir. May I know, does it allow two-page view like reading a physical book? Thanks
Hey..What do you think is it able to use as a diary writer and reading back or not really good for that?
Please also show USB transfer, even if it is in beta status.
What a fantastic review. Thank you.
What an amazing review! Thank you very much!
Great video! Thank you so much for this!
Great and informative comprehensive review....thanks
Excellent Review! Thank you!
The tablet really looks amazing and so much better then my current app called Insight notes on my iPad.
thank yuo for the video and the cat..I have two questions. how can I load e-books or files? only thru desk top? and the second one is how to upload or update ipad or i phone for the last documents created in remarkable?thanks
really good review ! Thanks for your work ;)
I wonder if it will make a difference if they would've put a quad core cpu and 1 gb of RAM , like the sony ereader .
I can't find the PDF user manual you mentioned. Can you post the link?
thank you very much for your review. it's really helpful!
Nice review!
Curious if you have found a way to cut and paste between different pages? I have queried the reMarkable team but no response. Love the device but I haven't been able to figure this out yet.
Vojislav Dimitrijevic thank you!
thanks so much for the excellent review!
How can I import pdf books from my iPhone to remarkable app n my iPhone and to remarkable device as well ?
