Have you been troubled by voles in your vegetable garden? What did you do to keep them out your garden? Drop me a comment, I would love to hear 🌻

I live in New Mexico and have about a foot of calechi under a half inch of powder, my moles/voles dig right through it and leave piles of large chunks of calechi.

Wow, that sounds like a terrible situation to be in and I must say they are pretty determined creatures, especially if food is scarce! I hope you manage to find a solution and consider using metal wire (chicken wire) as they shouldn't be able to get through those 🌻

I found the information very useful. I have I small garden and every year I have to try something different to repell the voles naturally. I already planted some daffodils wich work very good around trees.
But for around the vegetables I will try to plant what you showed in the video.
It wasn't clear for me the name of the plant you took out to show the roots. Could you please tell me the botanical name of the plant? I would be very grateful if you can do it

Thanks for leaving such a detailed a great comment 🌻
Absolutely! The botanical name is Tulbaghia Violacea and the common name is wild garlic. You can eat the leaves and use them as a substitute for garlic in roasts or fresh in salads. They are absolutely delicious!
I really hope this helps you get those pesky voles under control 🌻

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and yes, I have heard that works for some people, but for that didn't do much. However, like I mentioned in the video, what works for me might not work for you and the reverse applies too. Glad you found what works for you 🌻

@@DonnaMM6361big bottle, hole in bottom,, leave top on, cut 4 rectangle fins and fold out, put wire through bottle on a stiff wire, wind spins it causing vibration in soil

I appreciate that you have shown what the tunnels and holes of voles specifically look like in raised garden beds. I am in northwest United States and been searching for this information specifically. I have had a pretty good idea that my pesky rodent is a vole, but have not been able to confirm that. Most people (and videos) combine the mole and vole as similar enough, that they don't distinguish vole activity in the vegetable garden. We are building new raised beds with hardware cloth on the bottom. It has 1/2" squares. Does anyone know if that is too large to prevent voles from entering? The wild garlic you have is new to me. I will search for it. Thank you! Mukilteo, Washington, United States. Happy Father's Day!

Hey Donna, thanks for taking the time to write such a great comment and share your experiences with me 💚
I would say that spacing would be fine to keep them out but also allow worms and other insects to move around freely.
I'm glad this video helped distinguish the difference as I found the same. Correct identification is the most important thing when it comes to prevention.
I hope you had a super productive summer garden and good luck for the looming winter season 🌻

Ja wel Mollie is besig hier by my.

@@MySustainabilityJourney Ja, dis sulke klein glas botteltjies wat my vrou by young livings koop. As ek moet raai gooi ek so halwe liter per meter.
