Eren is faced with one of the most difficult choices we could imagine. The extinction of his race or fighting the entire world, and killing many innocents in the process. Regardless of whether you agree with his choice to fight, you have to agree he was put into a very hard position.
No.... the choice is simple ..... when little girls are getting eaten by dogs . The choice has already been made.... judgement will happen on the world for that sick evil crime
This made me realize that in season 3, when we're shown Keith Shadis's memory of Grisha taking Eren to the forest and he asks Grisha "What if he's not special? What if he's like me?" and Grisha replies with "He's not like you. He's my son." , Grisha was not being rude. He was complimenting Shadis and we see that now because in this scene (which chronologically is right before the one in Keith's memory in season 3) he's begging Zeke to stop Eren and sees Eren as a monster. But once he finds out Carla died, in all the rage and hatred and self-loathing he convinced himself that his duty was fulfilled and gave Eren the Attack Titan to carry out whatever he was going to.
In case some of you didn't realize this, it seems all this was seen by Eren as future memories when he kissed Historia's hand, that's why we see him kissing Historia's hand at the beggining, like being the start of the future memories, and just before Zeke falls in the paths in front of Eren we see Eren's face after he kissed her hand, as the end of the future memories back then. So epic...
That's why we see him fucked up while travelling to the sea at the end of season 3, it wasnt because he was on cell during weeks, but because he saw his future memories, litteraly what his life will be, and as Zeke said, "Past cant be changed", so cant be changed the past of the future memories. That's why the sea scene is so heart breaking, Eren fought his whole life for his freedom, to finally reach his goal, seeing the sea, but knowing at this moment his whole life is a cage he cant get out until his death, the least free person in the world. He couldnt even share the discovering of the sea with Mikasa and Armin, since he already saw it from his father memories, even this little joy was suppressed when he kissed Historia's hand
After learning that his wife get eaten, he probably goes insane and he blame eren because future eren didn't.show him when the wall gonna broke and what happen to Carla. If Eren show him those moments, grisha wont go meet.the royal and probably stay and help protect.the wall. And from what we learn from this episode, future Eren could have fuel grisha rage when he give eren attack titan.
This is one of the best voice impressions I´ve ever heard!! It feels so real that you can feel empathy for Grisha, his voice actor was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in this episode
The animation was wild!! They did such an incredible job! Grisha's breakdown and him being regretful towards Zeke and saying how much he loves him really got me emotional and made me tear up. Grisha's voice acting was top tier too!
The fact that Grisha recognize Zeke, because of he is seeing Zeke through Erens POV while Eren is standing behind Grisha and looking to Zeke gave me chills.🥶 Grisha is not huging Zeke at this time he is just hunging the air because Zeke an Eren are just in Grishas "future" memories.😶😶😶
Imagine feeling abandoned by your father without realising that it is your little brother that has been influencing grisha all this time, being made a tool in every aspect andd only until now Zeke has fully realised how much trouble he is in and now he can see clearly that eren is the reason why everything unfolded the way it did with Karl Fritz also being the reason why Zeke and Eren become who they are in the current time line, crazy how there is so much twists and turns to this series and it just absolutely jaw dropping everything I watch it (I read the manga version too) I think the animated version of.the manga did an amazing job of expressing characters feeling, mind and soul of the situation in every way (layers, depth and emotions) very human indeed.
Eren was never influencing Grisha "all the time" other than in dialog with Kruger, Reiss scene and via Attack shifters memories. he literally couldn't influence him before he did become shifter. all actions Grisha took before that day and his desire to fight for freedom were belonged to him alone. Kruger literally confirmed that it's not that Grisha went beyond the walls because he was chosen by Eren but he was chosen because he went beyond the walls and lived up to that day by himself.
yo this scene hit me so hard i had to look it up. Cinematography was on point. Just the shot of Zekes eyes welling up and the pacing. Truly moving beyond words.
The way they animated Grisha's meltdown was so intense. Really hammered home that he was bound to Eren's will, and that he did not want to commit such atrocities. Intense stuff.
To people wondering how Eren made contact with Grisha: - Grisha basically saw FUTURE Eren's memories (which is the Eren we will see later on in the series) through CURRENT Eren's eyes (which is the Eren in this episode watching Grisha's memories) - Basically Grisha saw himself through CURRENT Eren's POV/Eyes that's why he could tell Zeke was there because Eren could see Zeke. And that's why he knows Eren is there because he is watching himself through Eren's eyes. - To make it simpler: Grisha - Future Eren's Memories (through Current Eren's eyes) - and then back to Grisha - Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's memories which is the CURRENT Eren watching his fathers memories. Eren kissing historia's hand: - Eren basically saw FUTURE Eren's plan through Grisha's Memories. Basically Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's plan and since CURRENT Eren can access Grisha's memories seeing the FUTURE Eren's plan, then he could basically see the future. - To make it simpler: Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's Memories - CURRENT/PAST Eren (When he kissed Historia) saw Grisha seeing FUTURE Eren's Memories. It's a litte bit confusing but all in all they basically just see each others memories seeing each others memories -by @kamon

This made me realize that in season 3, when we're shown Keith Shadis's memory of Grisha taking Eren to the forest and he asks Grisha "What if he's not special? What if he's like me?" and Grisha replies with "He's not like you. He's my son." ,
Grisha was not being rude.
This episode passed way to fast for me to wait next Sunday

0:45: me the whole episode 🤯
When grisha screamed Eren's name that made me choke up bro. The animation for that was so real. MAPPA the Goat
Imagine Grisha, who DESPISES Marley, cringing in fear from what Eren will do to them.
This episode is the first time AOT made me almost cry. Grisha’s VA went beyond amazing
So epic...
Bro literally god bless your fucking soul cause I kinda understood the concept but not really up until now
That's why we see him fucked up while travelling to the sea at the end of season 3, it wasnt because he was on cell during weeks, but because he saw his future memories, litteraly what his life will be, and as Zeke said, "Past cant be changed", so cant be changed the past of the future memories.
The soundtrack, the voice acting, the screenplay...I keep coming back for these
Down in history as one of the greatest if not the greatest story ever told. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
HELL YEAH
Zeke: “Your father told you nothing and made you inherit a Titan, yet you’re fighting just like he wanted?”
Him: eren!? Is this you want?!
I can't be the only one who keeps being bugged by quality of Zeke's hair the entire episode...
Huh
facts i think they downgraded a lot of scenes, not hating on mappa its just what i noticed still a 10/10 episode
Wit>>>>
Sad zeke, deep down inside he still a child who just really need love and affection.
Zeke is one of the best characters and one of the most tragic
No he is just clown get fooled by eren, just puppet
His voice acting was incredible! It gave me chills when he started screaming
I was in absolute shock this entire episode, this entire scene was portrayed so beautifully. Big big kuddos to mappa
Grisha: Zeke, please stop Eren.
Also Grisha: Eren, please eat me and continue with your plan.
After learning that his wife get eaten, he probably goes insane and he blame eren because future eren didn't.show him when the wall gonna broke and what happen to Carla. If Eren show him those moments, grisha wont go meet.the royal and probably stay and help protect.the wall. And from what we learn from this episode, future Eren could have fuel grisha rage when he give eren attack titan.
when grisha was moving that was smooth animation asf
Reminds me of death note (kira scene)
This is one of the best voice impressions I´ve ever heard!! It feels so real that you can feel empathy for Grisha, his voice actor was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in this episode
1:03 I fucking cry every time I watch this scene
That eren stare gave me chills, amazing
This was so tragic!!! Grisha’s mental breakdown and learning that he truly loved Zeke and regrets what he did to him…
I was tearing up hard!!!
Anime watchers: why would you spoil the story for me
Manga readers: because I was born into this world
The animation was wild!! They did such an incredible job! Grisha's breakdown and him being regretful towards Zeke and saying how much he loves him really got me emotional and made me tear up. Grisha's voice acting was top tier too!
i still cant believe what i just witnessed today.
0:45 same face when watching this episode.
I have washed this like 10 times in a row. The anguish…the pain!!! So tragic and beautiful at the same time 😭🥺😭
The way they animated Grisha flailing and having a mental breakdown is fucking marvelous.
death note (;
Grisha’s VA absolutely killed it
Grisha : Why won't you show me everything Eren??
Eren : Cuz I don't want you get spoiled Dad. 😎😎
Kruger literally confirmed that it's not that Grisha went beyond the walls because he was chosen by Eren but he was chosen because he went beyond the walls and lived up to that day by himself.
this shit made me cry the voice acting was incredible on grisha's part
I really hope Grisha's VA get's more roles from this fucken performance. It's so fucken well voiced.
I am a manga reader and even I cried at this whole scene. Amazing VA. Incredibly done.
Good job mappa!!!
And good job all the voice actors!!!
I don't think they'll ever capture this moment perfectly in dub
My man in one episode, had the best performance of the season. Felt the emotion pouring out of the screen
Whenever Grisha appeared, his va always killing it
The entire last 10 minutes of this episode my jaw was on the floor.
yo this scene hit me so hard i had to look it up. Cinematography was on point. Just the shot of Zekes eyes welling up and the pacing. Truly moving beyond words.
The moment Zeke went from antagonist to protagonist
I love how Eren is standing like a boss in the end
The emotions! Japanese VAs are so expressive!
The way they animated Grisha's meltdown was so intense. Really hammered home that he was bound to Eren's will, and that he did not want to commit such atrocities. Intense stuff.
bruh, this was the best anime ep i've ver seen
Even though I already read the manga, I was all over the place being blown away! MAPPA nailed it again!
Damn the music, Grisha's voice acting, them making Eren appear truly terrifying, This was so well done omg
"Man is the maker of his destiny."
Here, we find Eren creating his super-hero and super-villain origin story!!
Oh poor Zeke all he wanted was some love. I genuinely got sad when zeke cried and said Dad. 😿😿
This has to be the most terrifying scene in AOT history
Especially when Grisha told zeke eren couldn’t be trusted It sent a shivered down my spine.
"I love you."
The words Zeke wanted to hear from Grisha all along.
Grisha's VA is impeccable as is the animation by Mappa which perfectly portrayed his spiraling decent into complete hysteria.
13/10
Ok ignore the heartbreak and godly voice acting for a second
Eren is straight up asserting pure dominance on zeke at the end
Grisha: Dang Zeke why are you so old? Zeke: Internally crying....
0:56
"You thought I was Zeke, but it was me Dio!"
To people wondering how Eren made contact with Grisha:
- Grisha basically saw FUTURE Eren's memories (which is the Eren we will see later on in the series) through CURRENT Eren's eyes (which is the Eren in this episode watching Grisha's memories)
- Basically Grisha saw himself through CURRENT Eren's POV/Eyes that's why he could tell Zeke was there because Eren could see Zeke. And that's why he knows Eren is there because he is watching himself through Eren's eyes.
- To make it simpler: Grisha - Future Eren's Memories (through Current Eren's eyes) - and then back to Grisha
- Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's memories which is the CURRENT Eren watching his fathers memories.
Eren kissing historia's hand:
- Eren basically saw FUTURE Eren's plan through Grisha's Memories.
It's a litte bit confusing but all in all they basically just see each others memories seeing each others memories

How did Grisha physically hugged Zeke?
