- Concerns are growing of a further escalation of the war in Gaza after the deputy political leader of Hamas was assassinated in Lebanon in an apparent Israeli drone strike.
Saleh al-Arouri, one of the Palestinian militant group’s senior figures, died in an explosion on Tuesday in the Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, which serves as a bastion for the powerful Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and exiled leaders of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Lebanese state media claimed that an Israeli drone attacked a meeting of militants at a Hamas office in the area and said the blast killed at least six people.
The Israeli army said it was “prepared for any scenario” after the assassination further raised the spectre of regional war breaking out.

This is one of the most excruciating interviews I have ever heard. Julia Hartley Brewer has embarrassed Britain's media with her rudeness, hostility, disrespect, aggression and SHOUTY behaviour. Overseas viewers now think this attitude is representative of British journalism as this clip has wound its way around social media. Doubtless the programme's editors and sponsors are chuckling over her "feisty" behaviour and the ensuing clicks, but she has done her media colleagues and the industry itself a disservice. Britain cannot count itself to be an intelligent commentator on global affairs with this sort of rhetoric and there is still a journalistic code of behaviour to uphold, after all.
I live overseas and I don't think Julia Hartley has embarrassed you in the slightest. The biggest embarassment is Mustafa Barghouti who can't answer a single question, and instead interrogates the interviewer 🤣
This is very common with palestinian supporters, they can't answer a damn question and keep asking questions to the interviewer. It's absolutely comical and it makes no sense, who cares about the opinion of the interviewer? They should learn the format and learn to answer questions.

By asking questions, such as "do you condemn Hamas", is simply put whataboutism and insensitive towards people, who have been a target of an €thnic cleans1ng and aparth€id politics for over 50 years. The two aforementioned acts of the government of Israel have been stated by various human rights and international criminal law experts. It is just very bad journalism to ask this question. I'm surprised there's still a "journalist" found who thinks this is in any way an accurate or valid question in an interview. It just eradicates centuries of colonisation and breaking international law. Dr Mustafa Barkhouti's reaction is very reasonable.

Feel so sorry for Dr Mustafa Barghouti but he kept calm. Right from beginning of interview, Julia shows herself up with opiniated comments, her knowledge of what has and is happening nil. At one point she explodes "What is the point of having a conversation?" Indeed, Julia, when you do not let the other person speak without interrupting, and your only intent is making them appear small. Thankfully, Dr Mustafa Barghouti stands for non violence, end to occupation and peace and freedom from fear for all and his caring for humanity shone through despite Julia's mad outbursts. Never have I listened to such a horrible interviewer.
