- The United Nations has warned the situation in Gaza is on the brink of becoming "even more hellish" as conditions deteriorated amid continued heavy bombardment in the south from Israel.
Israel has issued evacuation orders from towns and villages near Khan Younis, where people have been taking refuge in recent weeks.
As the Israeli military begins its ground offensive and continues it airstrike raid over the south of the territory, civilians are left with nowhere to go.
Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with former Palestinian ambassador to the UK Manuel Hassassian as he accuses Israel of ‘deliberately targeting civilians’.
Julia: “Civilians are dying because Hamas has been using them as human shields.”

In 2001 the PLO was ruling the Gaza Strip. It had rejected the peace process because Israel insisted on an "end of conflict" clause. And the PLO conducted its own rocket fire into Israeli communities from Gaza. It was not just Hamas. This man is disingenuous.

I remember another discussion , when a guest who had experience of hostage negotiations and resolution of military truces said that any discussions must start from a clean slate of " what do we need to achieve NOW that will be acceptable to both parties ? If you allow the negotiations to degenerate into the historic perceived grievances by each side then they will emotionally concentrate on their view of the past. That cannot be changed . The future can if both sides are genuinely willing to negotiate . Sadly , I see no resolution to this version of hell . The Israeli state and its army ( IDF ) has a duty to defend its citizens and it's existence , therefore cannot allow hostilities to continue indefinitely . Surrounding Arab states want to avoid involvement . The " Palestinians " have embraced Hamas and seemingly support their ideology . There is factional infighting in any " Palestinian Authority ". It is seldom the case that prayers stop bullets but I pray there is a first-time.
Well, then if among these two sides in the conflict there isn't people cappable to find a common ground and make a satisfactory lasting peace. Israel will lose over time by a simple historical fact. The grievances will be displaced to the nearest settlement of these peoples and none Empire lives forever. The U.S has been the country garant of the military power of Israel in the region and has been a main provider economically and socially, the U.S. will eventually fade off like all Empires in history, and then the "third temple" will be destroyed and the land will change hands all over again.

Occupation doesnt need to be physical like you would see a solider at every corner... It is about control. According to the UN whic is the ENTIRE WORLD Gaza has been under occupation for about 20 years where ISRL controls what and who gets in and out. It has no airport and no port. The magnitude of that suffocation has been so bad that it effectively turned Gaza into one big concentration *** or put mildy a large open prison. The reason that Hamas exists in the first place is to counter that occupation. It means nothing to me that they call themselves islamic fighters or whatever. How did the Israeli hostages mange to survive the air strikes? If Hamas were hiding with Palestinian civilians (or using then as human shields) then so were the hostages.
1- Not all of them have survived
2- The assessment from the beginning was that most of them were held in the south of the Gaza Strip, and not in the areas of the bombings.
3- There are a lot more tunnels than you think, some of them are "immuned" to air strikes
