I love her speaking voice. Just so comforting and regal.
Yes! Like a academic philosopher, I could listen to her talk all day.
I Love To Hear Martha Reeves Speak, She Has A Regal Presence about Her.
Yes definitely ❤️💯
Motown Royalty. I'm British, and detest the unelected Windsor woman, but Ms. Reeves is in a different class, and earns the title.
you gotta thank Maxine Powell for that. She trained all the women and men at Motown to act like ladies and gentlemen, the highest class. A true regal and royal presence.
@@brandonmills9577 She did a fine job.
I know me too, but please don't ask her to sing, it sound like a cat screaming
She is well spoken and gracious
I Love Aretha Franklin
I love it when one black queen speaks so highly of another.
Yes, and not afraid to do so in fear it may take something away from them.
So True 🌟 🌟.
I have met and gotten to know Ms. Martha Reeves. She is a beautiful person inside and out. God Bless her!
Yes she is! No "star" behavior at all!
Dancing in the streets! I listen to that song daily, and I was born in '80.
God bless you MY Sister Reeves, you are a BEAUTIFUL LADY 🦋

Martha Reeves: so classy and gave us so many incredible hits throughout the decades. What great positive energy and humility she has. Please make more music for us, Martha.
You are one of the giants of music and we love your sound.
Martha Reeves seems very humble. Beautiful smile. Just listening to her talk just has me sitting here smiling. You have ro have much respect for the generations that came before us. They dealt with a lot so the world could be a little bit better for the rest of us.
I love love love Martha Reeves!!

I have always been a fan of Martha Reeves since I was a little kid! She is truly a great legend, along with Aretha!:)
Aretha is the greatest Soul Singer ever and by a good Margin the Greatest Female Soul Singer ever.
pure legend, pure talent
Much Love to our Multitalented Ms Martha Reeves. And she's correct about Aretha Franklin Still being the Queen of Soul 💞
Wow, I'm learning so much. I stand on the strong shoulders of those who came before me!
AMEN 🙏 🙏.. From All That Racist That Our Black Celebrities Went Through In The 1950's And 1960's .. Motown The Black Movement ⚖ 🎶 ⚖ 🎶 That Charged The Whole World 🌎.. Martha Reeves ❤ 🙏 I Stand With You.. Blessings Always.
What a voice
There’s only one Martha Rose Reeves!!!!!!!!! Love this legend
Martha was regal. She had class omg god alwsys bless her. I love her
Beyond the blazing talent, what a lovely woman.
Martha looking good for her age.
Yes Ms Reeves was always a pretty lady.
I love love love Martha. She knows we Brits love her, and I think she has a special affection for the UK.
This is wonderful.
She's aged gracefully with Class & is still a Beautiful lady
TOTALLY AGREE!!!
Thank you, Martha Reeves for sharing your kind, loving and insightful words about Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul. What a legacy. But, I would be remiss to not mention yours and the Vandellas musical legacy. I remember yoh were the first woman and girl group to close a Shia at Philadelphia’s Uptown Theater and you and you’d group closed the show with Heat Wave. (Your music was great!)
Over the years, I have heard you speak snd you have never disappointed. I thank you for sharing and for mentioning even the story about Smokey Robinson “stepping up”. Stay safe, strong and blessed. You talk about “stealing the show”. You ain’t never lied.
What a classy and strong Lady. God bless her.
Thank you Ms Reeves you are loved.
Ms Powell was a beautiful person. I loved that old lady 💙. And Marth Reeves took VERY good care of Ms Powell in her last years. Almost every time I saw Martha Reeves, she had Ms Powell with her. Ms Powell would even hang out at Baker's and Bert's. She was still Detroit Royalty generations after Motown left Detroit.
Amazing interview.
You’re Beautiful Miss Martha Reeves and you speak just as lovely!!! Thanks to my Beautiful Mother’s love for music I grew up on Motown music, James Brown , Aretha Franklin and others. I still love and listen to your music on my IPods all the time especially “Dancing In The Streets” Yes we were Dancing in Chicago!!! #ChiTowngirl. #WithTheseHands
Martha was and is a class act! Legend!
I love 💘 Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. I love Aretha Franklin ♥.
People of color that were TALENTED and SOPHISTICATED went through a lot back in the 50's & 60's. I love the Motown sound and Aretha Franklin ♥ ❤ !!!
I read how difficult it was to perform as TALENTED Artists of color. My late parents & relatives told me how difficult it was for people of color to perform in certain parts of the United States & cities.
LOVE THIS! The story she tells, the details of Aretha and Motown...segregation, their journey.
Martha Reeves She Are So Pretty ❤ ❤.. She Speaks So Highly Of Aretha Franklin 👍 👍. Two Great Female Icons.
I think the reason Martha Reeves, Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin and most of the people of that time represent the golden era of music is because being a performer required so much training. You couldn’t go out on a stage until you were physically, mentally and emotionally equipped to do so.
Nowadays, the moment you can sing a note, they put you before an audience of thousands.
Such class & dignity. I love listening to Ms Reeves
Martha Reeves gives the best interviews.
Everybody needs to see this. Your Looking good Martha Reeves......
Martha speaking sounds like Mary Wilson
Big respect to Martha and all she dealt with back then x
Martha Reeves is such a Beautiful down to earth warm person and one of my Favorite Singers Thanks for this Video
Martha, a kind spirit, she is a wonderful woman, and I'm proud to call her friend.
She speaks so eloquently
Great video and insight.👍
Now that Mary Wilson has died, I'd say that Martha is the best resource for keeping the Motown legacy alive. Mary and Martha for many years were the most articulate and most vocal about the history of the music. Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson speak fondly of Motown, but they have had such huge solo careers, their recollections of the early years are more general. Mary was, and now only Martha is, the go-to person for the detailed stories. She is a very lovely woman and she messages as very intelligent.
Add Claudette Robinson!
@@LBuford216 I'll have to look up clips with her. I haven't seen any. Maybe Wanda Rogers, too? I really like the Marvelettes in general. I'd like to know more about their story. I did a comparison and I was surprised to find that they had more hits than the Vandellas.
@@nycp1969 now Wanda is gone. And Wanda didn't give much interviews and was out of the spotlight due to drug/alcohol addictions, health decline and death of her daughter.
@@bronzebeautybrown3949 I didn't know she died. It looks like it might have happened only a few weeks after my post about her. She was very talented. Terrible news.
Martha is objection in her personal recollections of Motown than some.. In a separate interview she praised Diana Ross as the hardest working person in show buisness. Martha is a very gracious lady and she speaks without rancour. Johnx
Martha has a wonderful body of work she recorded.
I love her voice
So articulate, So classy.
Her training liberally never left her. She has maintained the professionalism and regal nature. But then again most artist from that era have.
Martha Reeves is a sweet soul. Her music still sounds brand new and just as exciting as it was when I heard her as a kid.
Martha❤️❤️❤️! We love you so🌺
Thank you Martha Reeves for SPEAKING THE TRUTH. YOU ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, CLASSY AND ELEGANT.
I have so much respect for artists of the 1960s. Martha was in the right place at the right time and did very well for herself.
I just love all these women from
Motown.
What a wonderful testimonial and archivist of events that affected black people and performers in the 50s and 60s.
I like the way she talks and says the stories❤❤❤❤❤
You are so sosososo brilliant
You are beautiful Martha , love you and the vandellas, forever

Keeping all of us Young she's a nice lady nice-looking 2
April 12, Happy Birthday Lois Reeves of Martha Reeves @ivery5000 👠👠 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Back in the day I would’ve NEVER performed for a segregated crowd. They wanted our talent and entertainment but we couldn’t even sleep in their same hotels, eat in the same restaurants, hell even use the same rest room where we performed.
The Native Americans say walk a mile in my moccasins before you criticize me. Some of those very talented entertainers had not had an opportunity to even finish elementary school. So being given the opportunity to earn more money than one could imagine, with no other marketable skills, is a pretty tempting offer. Blessings to you young lady.
@@sandraatkins2539 wtf are you even talking about? This has NOTHING to do with what BLACK people had to go through. Criticize? Who am I criticizing?
You wouldn’t have gotten far. You’re speaking from a place of privilege.
@@tavii80sbaby82 though you may not have intended it, your perspective criticizes black artists who performed to segregated crowds in that era. Just recognise that people had to make difficult choices in tougher times is all.
when you think of Mrs Reeves, you go to all the songs that got her and the Vandellas, inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame...a huge accomplishment for a group of black women, with there NOT being many black women AT ALL in the HOF. But her singing ability also gets dismissed, on occasion. So, Id encourage anyone who admires her, to search her version of "So Many Rivers To Cross"... an old Jimmy Cliff song. Her version will bring tears to your eyes. Its THAT good.
She just got her Hollywood Star... God Bless Diva! There is a movie here. Tyler Perry.
You are so sosososo deep
Love marth and the vandellas great sound and when they came out with dancin in the streets she was hot and a good looker also im 66 year young white dude still a drummer and vocalist makin music go motown the best music ever and always
Martha❤
You are a genius
It would be nice if we can hear that interviewers questions
I wonder why interviewers are always asking her about other people. They need to focus on HER and HER career, stop using her as a way to gain insight knowledge.
I Believe you too Martha.
I like the way she talk. She said Maxine Powers “ Was very good at what she does”
My mother was regal as all Black mothers back in the day wether we had money or not .But our our mothers never stepped out of the house ,whether it be going to the market or church .They always looked classy .I loved that about my mother ,she was smart and sophisticated .That is what I loved about my mother .
Nothin but da truth no 1 can sang like Aretha
You ain’t neva lied!!!! 💯
Another Detroit legend who was born in the south.
You go
Bravo👏
She’s wonderful. Interviewer is clueless.
When was this interview actually recorded? It was uploaded in 2019, but judging from what Martha says during the interview, it was recorded while Aretha was still living (and she died in August 2018).
It shows at the beginning 2013....
Martha is great! Interviewer needs a new mic or something!
U know Aretha didn't like u didn't she confront u at one of your concerts back in the day
Wow these people are such pioneers and they experience racism first hand.
The Freedom Riders were the first to be physically and verbally abused. Motown experienced it later.
So sorry Miss Reeves had to undergo such a terrifying experience and hateful prejudice in those early days, and actually saw someone pull a double-barreled shotgun on them all. They had some really tough times in those early 60’s days, just trying to get their music to people that wanted to see them and hear that popular Motown sound. (I would have given almost anything to have seen those big names at that time!) Imagine having to ride a broken-down old Trailways bus with no toilets, for hundreds of miles.
I gave this a positive “like” because Martha Reeves is a tremendous talent, a beautiful person and Motown royalty, but this interviewer was really terrible and unprepared. He was disorganized and didn’t know what he was going to say. He used the fillers “you know?”, “right”, “ummm” “aaah” and “Wow!” repeatedly. Obviously, he did not know what he was going to say, which is unfortunate for her as such a big star.
Fortunately Miss Reeves is a class act and a professional, and can run with a semi-interesting or even boring lead, and she was able to salvage his poorly prepared questions and make it interesting. I truly felt bad and uncomfortable for her, as she had to do some quick thinking for his awkward line of questioning, but she is a seasoned professional, and she was able to make it through unscathed and looked good. She always has been one of the Motown greats. Barry Gordy picked a true winner with her.
She has more authority to speak of god than the pope himself.
ASk her some Diane Ross & Mary Wilson questions.....if you want to get a GOOD interview.lol
The Vandellal rocked much more than the Supremes Martha could really belt out s song
Is she pulling a Tina Turner on us with thew accent? lol
