I would've recommended going for faster memory, I installed the XMP overclocked fury 32 GB 6000MHZ 38 CL RAM and for 110 USD it is ridiculously faster in... everything. Having above 16 GB of ram is good but lower latency and higher transfer speeds is far more of a noticible difference. I have the 67HX with 12800HX and 3070ti
Love the closeup and great camera. Thanks for the comprehensive guide. Very helpful. The RAM clips, they didn't pop off, they broke (uncommon to break like that). But it's ok. Next time just use fingers to spread the clips apart like you did when removing the RAM.
I ordered the same model a few hours ago. Mine will come with 32GB and I'll be upgrading to 64GB. This was very useful. I'll be super careful around those two clips. I'd be tempted to reattach them with superglue.
Very cool! Will you be using it mostly for gaming? A lot of articles I read say 64gb is not really necessary, let me know what you think and what you'll be using it for? Thanks!
@@livingthedigitallife I'll be using it mostly for music production. 64GB is probably overkill but it'll be useful for massive projects with huge orchestral libraries. Future-proofing the machine is part of the reason too because I intend to be using this for many years.
@@BitcoinLiveScalper Lol, I never claimed to be a professional... this is something I only do every few years and I wanted to show this video to help others out that are trying to do the same thing. If you have any tips/tricks/advice to help others please share, thx!
... i like the informative video but i am curious as to why you didn't add a thermal pad to the nvme m.2 drive you added as well as a supporting pad underneath? don't you need 1 for heat dissipation?
@DEVILDOGx67 that is a really good question. When I was researching the install I didn't see anything from Crucial that this was needed since Crucial has "adaptive thermal protection" although I believe it is recommended for Playstations. Thanks for the question, I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this!
The only reason i found this video is because my clips just popped off and i wanted to see if i was too heavy handed, but thank you, it's obviously an MSI design fault.
The top clip actually came off when you put the bottom RAM stick in, we can see it break off at the same time as the bottom one on the video. It looks like the vibration of putting the bottom ram stick in broke both of them off, or (here is my theory) shook them loose when they were already broken... Looks like the ram itself didn't even touch the clips. They don't seem to hold the ram sticks in place at all. SO I'm wondering if those clips are there to hold that black rectangular cover that was over the ram cards in place? There seem to be several other identical clips in a square shape around the ram slots. Was it loose when you put in back on? So if you did anything wrong, you removed the cover over the RAM incorrectly, I wonder what the proper way to pop that cover off is? Seems like there are plenty of other clips to hold the cover in place, so likely nothing to worry about. That would drive me crazy too though, definitely don't want loose metal rattling around the MOBO lol. ...AND YES I typed all this before I finished the video. I think you are correct obviously lol. Maybe should have pried it off from all 4 corners near the clips themselves? Who knows.
Thanks Lowmein, I believe you are exactly right... those clips hold the cover and there were a few other clips still in place to hold the cover so it wasn't loose after the others broke off. I removed the broken ones and all seems good now that it has been several months. I believe the way I showed in the video is the proper way to pull the cover off but I remember fiddling around with it beforehand when I probably did something wrong but ended up cutting that part of the video out during editing. Thanks for the comment and have a good week! :)
Good question, I don't know off the top of my head, you may be able to find the answer here? storage-asset.msi.com/global/picture/faq/10012015@2018-0208-1152-303101@faq_01117_en.pdf
Looks like MSI did not solder those clips (they're for holding the metal cover above RAM) well, you didn't do anything wrong and snapping RAM sticks into their slots the way you did is perfectly fine (I always done that, I never broke anything on dozens of laptops I've worked on). Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it much, that cover above RAM is not even necessary (your laptop will work perfectly stable even without that cover).
After watching your videos I purchased a GE77HX last october, it just suddenly died on me a few days ago and I have to send it for RMA.... Hope you avoid that and would love and update. and while it was running it was an AMAZING laptop, just have no idea why it just died, started a windows update and came back after about 15 minutes to dead laptop😭
oh no, that's horrible! Mine has been working great other than I had to do a cross ship RMA for my power supply. I haven't done the latest windows update yet and am hoping that doesn't cause any issues. Thanks for keeping us up to date and I hope you get your laptop back soon!
Ah, sorry, I misread your question. I believe you can put any capacity SSD in there if it is the correct m.2 form factor, and pcie connection. I talk about it here in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ek9sLvGUWjQ/v-deo.html But just CONFIRM with a compatibility check on your system before you pull the trigger on your purchase!
I'm surprised cause I think all games laptops with high price like this one come with 2 slots memory for dual channel like (8+8) or (16+16) and Have another expansion slots for random memory and this come only 1 slots 16 without dual channel ? Good upgrade for more performance👍

How is the built of this Laptop? How are the hinges?

Аккумулятор можно не отключать , на выключенном ноутбуке нет питания на ram и ssd
Я полагаю, они заставили нас отключить аккумулятор на случай, если в системе все еще есть питание. Так что никаких повреждений не происходит.
