restored many Gen2 F-Bodies. 1- Left door needs a kit, probably right as well. LR ¼ panel has rust on bottom, was painted over. Both real spots in trunk well rusted, bondo and painted, Tail lenses are either a RS and a Sport Coup, not Z-28. Two fender braces missing on front.
You have a good eye my friend, for she was pan caked in a accident, that explains the lenses in the rear and the 2 braces up front.
Hi, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions since you're experienced. I'm making my first dive into classic car ownership. When you say the left door needs a 'kit', what are you referencing?
@@MyStory1989 - All second Gen F-Bodies (Camaro / Firebird) have heavy doors due to length, and beam in door. The door pins wear causing the doors to sag. Kits are available to correct from places like Classic and Summitt. Also, look for stress cracks on B-pillar, also common. If restoring, always add sub-frame connectors
@@GetsumJ Thanks man, I have noticed the door is heavy and is very difficult to open from the inside of the car. Do you have any recommended upgrades for a 78 Z-28 Camaro other than the doors? Engine wise for performance or efficiency,
Memories....when i was 17 my buddy had a 79 it was solid however it didn't have rear seats or a few other things lol but it did have the most powerful 350 i have ever seen to this day! That car spanked any mustang or other camaro no problem 😂 that car was scary AF to drive he would let me use it just to go have fun when he was with his girlfriend and i loved how that car felt it was glued to the street until you gave it half throttle 😅 would smoke 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gear all day long! He ended up putting it around a telephone pole so he put the motor and trans in a 84 monte carlo he was so stoked he forgot about the rear end so 5 mins after the install was done it lit up those tires like butter!!!! Then Boom!!!!! Blew the rearend right out the back lol.....eventually he got a built rearend for it and that was the beast of the east monte carlo!!!! Serious sleeper looked like a v6 but oh boy did it NOT 😂....PEOPLE FOUND OUT REAL QUICK AFTER THEY STARTED LOSING MONEY🤣 SORRY FOR THE BOOK but that car was our "red eye" or "demon" back then it held the title of the fastest 84 monte in illinois! Dont be mad at me nick i just had to tell it lol👍🏻🤙🏼✌🏼
I noticed the previous owner did something that most people neglect on these cars---he replaced the subframe bushings. And if he went that far, you know he spent time on the rest of the car as well
Except the interior. Only part they spent money on was the gauges. That’s about as cheap as you can get on interior. But hey that outside and paint job looked great. And that’s what anybody sees anyway.
If only I knew what they'd be worth today, I would have never gotten rid of my '69 Firebird or '70 LeMans.
And I should have bought my brother's '68 GTO convertible that he sold in the early 80's for $500. That car was a beauty!

Sharp car nice Cherry paint with no bubblage at all and minor nicks , engine looks and sounds great with nice exhaust note ,very clean interior that's in very good condition and updated ,this one won't last long !
I had a 78 and 79 Z-28. Both had same engine and transmission 454bbc and 4-speed. Love the F-body

I love this body style. Growing up in the 80’s I had this car in my Hotwheels collection. Really stood out to me. The outside of this car looks great. The engine and bay nice and clean. Good ole Chevy 350. Love the wheels on this car. Now the interior is not dingy but it looks very cheaply done. Only the gauges they spent money on. The rest cheap but just enough to pass as not dingy. Not sure about that price because of the interior. Also I think a new/different transmission is needed to really use what power that 350 has. But with the exhaust it’s sounds good. Not thinking very fast but sounds good. I’d need a better price as this is more a project car as it seems. Still a lot to do to it to make it proper. And even if not project too much for it to be a weekend car as it sits right now.

I do glass, thats a aftermarket glass, its from claws or clamps when the glass is made..

I am 100% a Pontiac Firebird girl but even I can say that's a beautiful Camaro. I don't mind colored dash panels and other accents but that weird design is woof!
It's not perfect but if I was a Camaro girl and not a Firebird girl, I'd love to own that car. Beautiful, too bad it didn't have T-tops though. A couple more $K and that car would be a stunner!

The only 78 worth having is a black 4 speed manual Z. That red weird gage cluster is a no . Rear spoiler doesn’t match. Slap some shiny paint on em get em out the door. Half the accessories don’t work , I’m gonna need the OEM hood as well, it’s cooler.
