Friend, do whatever you have to do to spend as much time with your son as possible while he is young. The memories you both make and keep will be priceless. You will both grow up far too soon. Hope you have many more camping adventures together.
Wow! This video was beautiful. Father and son time is precious and gold. I appreciate the area you chose since I am from that area. I have been watching other videos you have made and they are getting better. I am keeping note of what you used so that I can soon take my camping. Is this before the land cruiser. Your gear looks expensive but I am sure God has provided to see the wonders of the world and to share them. You have inspired me to do some camping with my son. It looks difficult since you can't just leave him out of sight. He should be 4 by now like my son. I would take you on a camping trip so the kids can be entertained.
What a great video. Treasure the time with your son. Mine is all grown up and I miss when he was little. This channel and 3.slow gang gave me new love for my 4 runner (91). Thank you for sharing this with us.
I used to camp on South Padre Island in my 3rd Gen limited back in high-school in the early 2000s all the time. I'm from McAllen and this was my getaway!
Beautiful adventure !! Never not enough time to spend with our kids ... Congrats, is a cute ! I'll say it in Portuguese, cause it sounds the same just different writing - OLÁ, Ezra, a água está fria mas sabe sempre bem !! LOL ... Olá mamã ... man, your just like those hot dogs .... killer, lllooooooollll ... Loved it all !! He's still to young to remember, but this time well spent. will build him as a good man, for sure !! ... so sad all that trash ... those drone footage were awesome. Keep up. Cheers

I love your 4runner. I also have a 2000 4runner. I've had her a year and a half. I have camped once in my 4runner and was uncomfortable...my mattress went flat. Don't think I was prepared enough. I am still trying to figure out what works for me. I love the platform but, don't want it to be permanent. I Also love the canopy and the lanterns. I know I will get this figured out. I have seen so many mods and I'm so excited to get started. Thank you for all your ideas. I enjoy watching you with your son. Keep up the good work :)
Dont worry about the videos for kids. I feel I am a pretty good papa and videos are a way of life. Its just great that you are out with your child. My kids all loved camping and now my 4 and 2 year old granddaughters love camping. Just waiting for the snow to leave so we can start going again LOL

you got a kid? Man I'm so jelous, family is great! If I was an inch shorter I could sleep in the back of my puddle jumper, I have tried many times haha. If I ever drive down south I'd have to look you and the gang up and maybe catch you somewhere on a weekend. It's good to see you guys work hard and play hard.

Very nice video, you're a good daddy. I stumbled here while looking up camping places for next month. I normally camp at Padre Island by Corpus. I wouldn't be able to drive van that far without getting stuck, I'm sure.
Greetings there.. Check out Matagorda Beach when u have a chance.. Couple places there tgat I know that ur van will make it for some overnight beach camping.
I live about 20 minutes from this beach I take my boat up the channel we beach it on the sand and picnic close to where he was. It is a nice area water isn't as salty as being on the actual beach. He is right thoughugh many people make a big mess and don't clean up after themselves.

Inspiring! I'm an Austin dude, but our fam in the Valley held reunions on the island when I was a kid. I've been back since adulthood, but since I recently picked up an '02 4runner, I'm ready to take it THERE. How's it looking over there these days?
The question that nobody wants to ask, but many wonder, what/where do you use for a bathroom for your "morning constitution" when car/truck camping? Especially with a little guy in tow. I have a 12 year old son with Autism and going to the bathroom at home is a challenge. I love to car camp solo, but am challenged by the thought of being in a beautiful location when I hear "Dad, I gotta go!". Digging a hole will probably scare him half to death and cause him to never want to go camping again. We used to have a camper, no problem. It had a bathroom. We're farmers so we're not afraid of being dirty. But some things are just necessary to start the day. Obviously, number one is no problem, but as I said, morning constitution? Thanks. Sorry for the oddness of my comment.
Get a regular 5 gal bucket..cut the bottom off with a big saw..buy a toilet seat that Wal-Mart carries in the camping dept..$11.97.. Dig a hole in the sand ahead of time.. I even rigged it up by attaching toilet tissue roll thru the handle. No problem ! Happy Trails !!
Hermosas camionetas las 4runner yo tengo una igual a la tuya mismo color yo soy de mexico, un pueblito en la frontera y m gusta ir a campar a un lugar q se llama presa de la amistad.
I'm planning on doing the same thing with my boys, we are planning on going to Padre Island for the first time, we cant to camp by the beach and do some finishing. Any advice as to what are and what fishing setup to use? Any advice will be much appreciated.
SPI is so beautiful and has the potential to even better - if people would just take the time to pick up their trash!! I'm not saying you're one of these people. I'm just tired of seeing others in the Valley treat this place like it's their personal trash can. It's easy to spot around 3:09 - 3:12. If only people realized how valuable and unique the Rio Grande Valley is and took the time to take care and respect it. It's sad to see how little people care for it. Can't even walk on the beach without having to look out for shards of broken beer bottles.
I'm planning a road trip to death valley but will stop here for a few days. Never been there looks good. I was wondering about the sand and driving on it but it looks hard packed. Were there any issues? Thanks for the video, Great drone shots. I'm leaving in febuary.
Just by stranding the positive wire to one end (where the bulb goes) and stranding the negative on the other end. Super easy. Just gotta figure which one is the negative. Ill show it on the rig walkaroung soon
Those are Luci solar lights. They're awesome for travel, or power outages. I got mine on Amazon, but I think Bed Bath Beyond carries them too. In the video, he was charging his on the dashboard while driving.
Awesome! I get it with the movies. We're the same. Keeping them entertained is an adventure in itself. Quick question, what are you using to record your voice over your footage? Id like to start narrating more. Thanks!
I use a Rode Mic Pro. Just plug it in to the camera and record like that. Honestly I might just start using the built in camera mic, sounds very clear right off the bat
I find it awesome that your teaching your kid Spanish, its a great skill for him to have in the future and keeps your latin roots alive. You start cooking hotdogs for you and your boy and your friend runs over and throws two giant ass steaks on for him and his dad.. They seem like the one friend everyone has that you just gotta accept for who they are and take em as is but all your other friends hate.... Nice vid.
Good call on the trash, that's a big part on the city. Especially the spring breakers, they trash everything during the spring. The city needs to be more involved in using resources to clean up the beach. I have been to many third world country's that have cleaner beaches then this. Its sad to see a US beach that looks like this. This is completely unacceptable for US standards.
