You can see Brian laugh about it once the interviewer moves on from the song, and then hop right on from there. Almost like he wanted to say something more about it but held back. Very interesting stuff.
There's a very distinct possibility that Brian either didnt know or forgot that "Never Learn Not to Love" is actually the song "Cease to Exist" by Charlie Manson....Bri may have actually not known that...he had very little involvement in the making of 20/20....he had Carl take the reigns as producer around that time.
Brian knew (knows) a lot more than he usually lets on. There’s a video of his ex wife Marilyn talking about Manson holding baby Carnie at their house … the studio was built in the living room. Manson was there a number of times…I’m pretty sure Manson recorded demos there while Brian was present. No way he was out of the loop for the “Never Learn…” scenario. Plus, Bri and Dennis were very close - brothers. He had to have known.
Manson was angry that they changed the words of his song. I know that Dennis was the one who was hanging out with Manson and girls. They loved at Dennis’s house for awhile. And this might’ve been the period when Brian was in bad or in his sand box for a few years. Maybe he didn’t know. 🤷♀️
Nah, his famous stay in bed lasted around 1971 or 72 to around 1974, this interview is from 1976, Brian had already undergone his first treatment with Landy and was doing better by this time, though Landy was probably already fired by the time of this interview. Brian would begin to regress the following year.

It seemed like after he laughed to himself he thought about it and he briefly had a pained look on his face
Brian has always been a kind person!

Brian was all over 20/20. He definitely would have known, and would have known Manson.

Never Learn Not To Love is a great song, especially after the spruce up Dennis gave it.
Looks like a prison interview LMAO
Did they have to beg him to get out of bed for this lol
