    It was largely your operation that encourage me to buy a hydroponic system. Moreover you’ve encouraged me to work on growing in soil outdoors as well. It would be so cool if I could come and spend a couple days with you and pick your brains. Please keep up the good work, the great videos… Truly appreciate what you’re doing.

      Wouldn’t that be an incredible experience!!! To see their operation in person and to be able to pick their brains!! I guess we will have to settle for UA-cam videos to learn as much as we can. I’d love to be able to do what they do!🥰❤️🇨🇦

    I absolutely love seeing all your veggies and strawberries growing and doing soooo amazing! I have a little hydroponic DIY system that I set up in our apartment, it’s small but you’d be amazed at the amount of veggies that can be grown in a small space. I have cherry tomatoes that are the size of roma almost and they are super sweet and it’s an indeterminate and just keeps on growing and growing despite all the cutting back that I’ve done. I grow cucumbers inside and butternut squash and I’m trying black Diamond watermelons for the first time. I also have a roma tomato plant which has given me pounds and pounds of tomatoes. I have an NFT system that sits on a shelving rack with 52 heads of lettuce and has two pvc pipes together on three shelves that I have all connected and pumps from a reservoir that holds 70 litres of nutrient rich water and it drains back into the same storage totes and just keeps recirculating and I just add to it when needed. I have Moneris T5 LED warm white grow lights above each pvc pipe and the lettuce is jamming! I also grow herbs and white stem tatsoi and basil and all sorts of leafy greens I have so many different kinds of lettuce. I never knew there were so many!! My latest addition is strawberries which I’ve put into three different methods of growing. I’d love to have green houses and high tunnels like you have and all the fun experiments that you get to do with everything, pretty amazing! You sure inspire me to keep on growing and having food to eat that I’ve grown myself is pretty amazing too! 🥰❤️🇨🇦

    You should build some guest cottages and run classes. This way you could get people to pay to do your work for you. That's called a win/win. I'm guessing that many people would like to spend some time with you hands on before taking the plunge into their own endeavour.

    I feel bad as I don't use any fancy formula for my hydroponics. I just use the maxigrow as its economical for me and my cucumbers/tomatoes/ lettuce/ greens and eggplants and peppers all seem to do well on it lol with my water I found I bought the ph up/down kit and tester and when I put the nutrients in the ph settles right where it needs to be. But it was a learning experience I'm 👍 lol.
    I'm sure if I got the blooming nutrients to tweak it I might get more but for right now we are pretty happy.
    Once again great video. Have a great week you guys! 🥰

    Any chance you can have Doug feed us engineering types with more stats on EC, PH, parts and pieces(for irrigation) being used? I see some drippers on the floor and wondering if that is all rainbird stuff.

    Have you tried doing cuttings for basil? I keep one bushy plant. Take a cutting and drop it in oasis or rockwool. Maybe too much work but it’s super fast.

    • @Emeraldwitch30

      I usually make cuttings from my best basil. Its usually just a little faster but im not growing hundreds lol.

    Just because they are “vine” crops does not mean they are treated the same. Tomatoes and peppers belong to family solonacea, along with chilli, beans are leguminacea and cucumbers are cucurbitacea. Plants in the same family can be treated the same. I keep the pH of the tomatoes well above 7.0 to discourage blossom end rot that happens when calcium is less available at low pH. EC at 2.3 is great for tomatoes but strawberry should be much lower at about 1.2.

    I don't understand, last time the EC for tomatoes was 3.4 (which already seems very high to me), and today you say that the EC was too low!
    I use the Masterblend formula for tomatoes but also for strawberry plants. I am very satisfied with it.

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  2 роки тому

      Where did you see 3.4? we found out that after correcting the ph the ec for the system was 1.0 the PH adjustment brough the EC back into line I will film the update this weekend for you
