This is deep, thank you both for sharing. What I love is how the BASIS of this marriage is each of your relationships with God. Marriage should not be the only time someone "get's dreams from God". Marriage should not be the only area we have to trust God in. For Del, it was surrendering her career, pride, her ambition; for Sam, it was trusting God in his life during a rough season where his identity and safety were under attack. Both learned to hear God in multiple areas of life. So it is with us. God is watching to see how we respond to the things we go through. Where do we run to? Do we ask His opinion on choosing friends? a job? a city to live in? a car? Our walk with God will be reflected in every area of our lives. Yes, in our marriages too, but that is only one part of the picture.
On waiting on God for him to speak if the person he told you about is not coming, it is important to note that God will give you instructions on what to do, either to keep waiting, forget about it or even tell you what to focus on. Truth is God knows exactly how long we can last in the waiting room, he knows our frame and frailty.. most of all God knows what he wants to achieve in you and with the situation TRUST GOD! God knows best and gives the best gift.
Yeah this is More than truth,,,while in the waiting period, there is always an instruction, or a condition to be fulfilled by you"like you should introspect yourself n decide if you are ready?,if not work out on areas that Holy spirit will show you

O Del and Sam, Thanks for sharing your story; I hope to share mine soon. Very similar story but still unfolding. I begged for the virtue of patience last year and God has been walking me in that path- not easy at all but because he is in it, it is definitely possible.
You two do complement each other so well, Delphinator is like me, lol, straight bam! bam! bam! Sam has gentler approach to how he answers the questions. We are more answer oriented, and we in our minds forget to see that the other people need to be carried through the process gently till they get to the answer. I am learning though it’s good to be gentle just because I know the answer shouldn’t make me rob the others of the process of getting to the answer. Being Christ-like is a process Lord help us. And until am like Him I am still not finished even with my quickness to answer, it’s such painful lessons but, hey, it’s part of being a child of the Great Kingdom of our Father.
I can see the benefit in asking God to show you your mate, and not doing the dating scene, because in marriage you'll have the rest of your lives getting to know one another, and will not have practiced breaking up, ie heartbreak, and divorce.

You just need to sincerely ask God and be vulnerable about where you are. Take your feelings to God.
Abraham waited for longer. Isacc was 40 as long as you heard from THE LORD go and sleep He will sort you out.

Yes one can decide to say no to God's choice. God won't force you. However, you will live with the consequences of your actions.
