    I'm 5'7" and I think the Monza 26" is just about the perfect size for just riding around having fun. I am tempted to get the 24" to have something closer to a BMX style bike, but not sure if that might be to small.

    Great video! Fun to see you guys riding on the island. Loved the approach up to the cruise ship, that was pretty cool! Hope they are taking good care of Bernie while they have him working so hard! I liked the comments about "comfy cockpit" and liking them "equally for different reasons". I'm to the point, where I just want one of each size, but if I could only do one and I was mainly just going on long casual rides, I think this 27.5" is the one. Monza knocked it out of the park on this one. Oh, and cool to see you leveling up in your editing. I loved the call outs that were pinned to the parts of the bike. How cool! 🙌

    • @cruisinginthe808

      The more I ride the 27.5, the more I'm liking it. I think if I could put some taller bars on this thing that it would be a great bike to cruise around town with. WOW, side by side you can really tell the geometry differences between the two. Too bad Bernie couldn't come out and play so Riley could compare all three size Monza's. An anodized aluminum seat post would be a nice addition, but it's a fun, easy, cheap swap. Isn't that half the fun, making it your own signature ride? I completely agree on the grips. The Princess Cruise Line footage was a nice treat on your ride.🌴🤙

      Like turn this into a 9 speed like the Fast Ripper? That is a good question that unfortunately I cannot answer. Do geared big BMX bikes have a larger space for the rear wheel?

    • @TuesdaysTurn
      @TuesdaysTurn Місяць тому

      I'm almost certain the rear dropout spacing on this bike is 110mm. Most internally geared hubs are like 135+. There are many big BMX bikes with wider spacing though.

    • @TuesdaysTurn
      @TuesdaysTurn Місяць тому

      @@cruisinginthe808 Yep! Some are 135mm, some are 142mm, probably others as well. I'm guessing this Monza, like many standard BMX bikes, has 110 rear spacing. With a steel bike, you can bend the frame around 5mm if you are very careful, but I wouldn't try that with an aluminum frame, but I have seen it done. Definitely don't try to fit a 135 hub into a 110 frame though!

    great video,,Riley did a fantastic fill in job and he's an experienced rider too,that was an excellent comparison between a 26" and 27.5" and both bikes would be fantastic to own but i have one question since your close with the owner of Monza,,do you know if he's going to offer that white 26" for sale again? i noticed on their website that buying any 26" is not an option at the moment which is a shame,both bikes have slightly different riding styles the 26" allows you to ride more nimble and BMX style VS the 27.5 which seems strictly cruiser oriented,,both are great bikes but if had the option i think the 26" would suit my riding style better so could you let me know if the 26"s will be available in the near future for purchase or have they been discontinued and substituted for these new 27.5's thanks..

    I'm 55 and want to start getting more exercise. My dream bike as a kid was the pk ripper. I'm 5'7 and was thinking of the big ripper. My riding would be mostly just plain riding and maybe some light trail riding. Any suggestions would be great!

    • @cruisinginthe808
      @cruisinginthe808  29 днів тому

      SE makes a bigger PK Ripper and they have a bunch of other Big Rippers, Flyers, and Quads! The first thing to decide is the size. Do you want a 24, 26, 27.5, or 29? The bigger you go, the more stable the ride but you lose some handling. My friend Matt from the @nostalgicneighborhood said it best. The 24 is like a sports car, the 29 is like a mini van, and the rest are sorta in between. All depends on the kind of ride you want to have. My best advice is to see if you can get to a local bike shop and test out some of them first. Find the size you like and then start looking around for bikes in that size. There are a ton to choose from! Good luck to you and let us know how we can further help! We have a bunch of other videos on the channel about some of them so feel free to check those out too! Talk to us about value. I know you guys are pushing the monza, but at the price point, its been increased across the board with their bikes. Wheres the real value? The parts arent premium, who makes the rims and hubs? Looks like a wheelmasters set.. that old school front caliper aint stopping a 27.5” wheel at high speed. Similar porkchop sprocket. My point is. They used be at great price point… for what you get.. they are starting to creep out of that “good value” price point

    • @cruisinginthe808
      @cruisinginthe808  Місяць тому +3

      You make a great point here about the value and so thank you for bringing this up. To make a bike like this while also trying to keep the price point down is tough. You see it with other companies like SE and Throne. You can easily rock the bikes from any of these companies as is and you'd be fine. But each one, including Monza, has to use cheaper parts for the mass production of several hundred bikes. This model we have right now is a pre-production one and so not all of the parts, like the pedals, are what will come on the bike. I can't speak for them on what other parts might look like but in talking to them, the pedals might be really the only part, aside from the bottom bracket moving to a mid, that will change. What's important to consider is the bigger size of the frame and fork, the rims, and tires. All of those bigger pieces will cost more so it's expected that the price has to go up. Now back when the Monza 24 first came out, I want to say it was like $899? Then as the bike high everyone was one after the pandemic was over, you saw a lot of prices come down because everyone had so much stock left over. Same held true with Monza as they dropped their prices on the 24 and the 26. In talking with them, they are a small company run by a handful of guys like you and me who have a passion for BMX. They said that the cost of everything has gone up since their last run of bikes. Just about every facet of the bike industry has seen price increases. Take shipping for example. It used to cost us maybe $100-$150 to ship a bike to Hawaii. Now it costs 2-3 times that. If Monza includes "free" shipping, they are still having to pay for that and so margins are going to be affected. Getting back to the 26 model for $900, this new 27.5 has all sealed bearings now, has better chromoly cranks, and is bigger for a price point of $1095. That's just $200 over the original cost of the 24. They even provided our viewers with a code, 808FRIENDS, for $100 off which brings it down to $995. For what you are getting for a grand in the improvements and bigger size, with the rising costs all around, to me, you are at a common price point for a bike like this with these kinds of parts. Using our code actually makes this a very good price point, at least in my opinion.
      One more thing, if you look at their new pre-orders for the next batch of their 24s, you can see just how much more it's costing them to produce this bike. The 24 now only comes with Skyways and it's up to $1,195 for chrome and white and $1,395 for their gold version. I can assure you, in my talks with Thomas over at Monza, they are not making a ton of money off of these new prices. The higher costs are going into the higher costs of running a business in 2025.
      I hope this helps to shed more light on the higher costs. I feel you man, prices are higher everywhere and I really appreciate you bringing up this point about the overall value. I hope that I helped to bring more of an understanding to these new prices but in the end, it's totally your decision as the consumer on whether or not you feel the bike has a value for that price. My apologies for the lengthy response but I didn't want you to think they were just trying to rip people off. I've been working with them for a few years now and they have been just solid people and want to do right by the BMX community. Thanks again for your comment and for watching the video! Much appreciated! 🤙🏻
