The silver 92 V-8 Detroit Diesel holds a special place in my heart because my first job as a mechanic (18 years old) was for a steel cutting company that had a fleet of 8 tractor trailers 5 of them had the 92 V-8's. I learned how to drive a big rig in a truck with the 92 V-8 and I can tell you that these trucks had their oil changed with the correct oil sooner than recommended and every one of them had to be rebuilt/overhauled in less than 60,000 miles.
Great test drive, can tell he's very pleased with the performance now. Good testament to doing the job right and the attention to detail. They will be beating a path to your door.
Hello Scott, Newbe here........well been watchin the heck out of your videos for about three months. ..love your videos. I might have to buy one of these busses just to be able to come down and meet you when you get the RV pads set up, by the looks of it you are getting famous so you better put in at least 50 campin spots.......This is the first time I watched on the computer because we cant leave comments on my Roku TV so wanted to say love your work ...keep it up.
Scot, as usual, you finessed another one!! The Wander lodge is an amazing beast.. My son has a much earlier (1980's) one, unfortunately with a CAT v-8..We're in North Carolina, & He wishes he had a DETROIT so he could visit you and at least have you look at his air suspension , Jacobs retarder and HWH units.. I turned him onto you & your brake info has helped him amazingly! He watches you religiously! You are the Bomb!!
can you split the temp senders to two separate gauges [left bank . right bank] ?? so you keep a better eye on what is going on on each side of the engine !! looking good 👍👍👍👍
@Southern Hellstorm You could have separate sending units/sensors for each head serving a separate display heads in the instrument panel if you really wanted to break the information into zones. The owner would just have to decide if it would be beneficial enough to rework or modify the existing gauge arrangement. It is entirely possible that a single dash gauge with 2 separate displays ("needle pointers") handling input from 2 different sensors is available that could fit into the same space occupied by the existing coolant temperature gauge,
Nice work on the rebuild guys well done tons of work but we'll worth the effort it. Road test was cool Scott you sounded like you were having a couple white knuckle moments through it. Lol
Scott another great video!! The turbo - charging really does quiet the Detroit's down quite a lot w/ a good power boost Out of all engines powering buses, the old 2 stroke is the only one that has been mounted in so many different ways Inline, transverse,& pancake style ala the old Crown coach. The old Mack transit bus had a transverse mounted thermo- dyne w/ a torque converter. Scott, just kidding around you need an old self loading elevating paddle scraper Wabco 353ft model w/ front and rear 12 V-71T's for a big whopping 1050 h.p. A nice Tonka Toy to tinker with.Say that last line quickly 5 times.Ha Ha!! Best wishes for you and your family.
I operated an old Wabco 262 FT,elevatingscraper in the late 80,s.Had 8vs. Was a monster.I think it moved 30 yards.Seems like it was a mid 60,s machine.
No one minds paying the Piper when the tune he has worked on is a sweet as this! If I’m ever in the position to purchase a MH with this engine, you will be the first stop in my journey.
I can't to wait to get out in mine. We sort of took last year off. Plans for this summer. They are such sweet coaches. Steel end to end (but for the 'caps')
You made comments for a good 10 minutes or more of this drive that clearly told this owner that you were uncomfortable with the speed he was driving. You're a better man than I because after the second or third time saying something I'd have been done. Either he'd have let me drive or I'd have called for a ride. Does this guy have Rotoguard or anything like that on those steers in case of flat because if not there's no way in hell he could save this on those roads with no shoulders. Retired OTR Driver with 1mil+ safe miles here, so no I don't play when it comes to safety. I've seen far to many fatal accidents over the years to mess around...
That thing sure is quiet,,,looks like it rides great also,,the gauge readings seem to be jam up and jelly tight,,,as my uncle used to say,,😍 stay safe Scott and keep those videos coming,,,☕️🍩🇺🇸🇺🇸
That test drive was very impressive! When you said your bus wouldn't accelerate up that hill like that, I just knew he was going to respond, "Well I know a good mechanic" lol oh well maybe he thought it! Lol
Great job on the rebuild. Your roads I'd rather be riding my Harly through your area on a sunny day 🤗🤗🤗 We are just North East of Nashville this week. Brrrrrr this Wednesday am.
They are... The three-year only versions that are kinda hard to find on the used market. At least they aren't the 1990 760 versions or the 780 versions.
Nice video! That guy sure knows how to drive his bus! Some drivers you´ve recorded I woudn´t take a ride with :) Realy nice place you live in. Looks a lot like the area I live in Sweden. Except for the yellow line thoose country roads could be around here.
Great ride & test drive but I'm pretty sure he was making the mechanic just a lil nervous 😓 with that lead foot! Lol never thought they needed a real view mirror..
Wow does that DD look and sound sooo much better👍 For coolant fills consider using a vacuum tool like the Airlift. Just used for the 1st time on our coach with Cummins L9. Coolant drain, flush and fill. Aways used on other vehicles the funnel w/plug thru fill neck followed by burping, adding and then capping, driving under load, and re-checking when cold, method. However, with turbo intercooler etc, didn’t want to risk pockets of trapped air causing hot spots during the 30 minutes of run time in order to open thermostat, adequately distribute the Cummins Restore Plus cleaning solution (heater core in nose quite a distance from rear) & let it work the amount of time per instructions. Also, had to run a rinse cycle in the same fashion following the cleaner drain. Tool inserts into the fill neck…snug it down…hook up the air line fitting via supplied quick connect fitting and your air compressor creates a Venturi effect that draws a vacuum. -25 is the target on the gauge. Disconnect air line fitting and quick connect the screened draw tube w/ ball valve fitting. Insert fill tube into your bucket of solution and open the ball valve and watch it fill the system. (my L9 configuration required 12 gallons as determined from initial drain and measuring as the capacity for this particular layout is stated nowhere) Sucked up the 12 gallons of coolant /distilled water mix beautifully and after I capped and ran the system, to circulate the new coolant & open thermostat and then cool down & shut down, the resting level in the morning was dead on…perfect! (and you know how rare that is lol). Airlift will also check for leaks since once you create the vacuum, you can just observe the gauge for several minutes and discern any decline. Lastly, a question. Do you or would you work on a manufactured bus like a 2015 Tiffin AllegroBus for installation of Konis all around, chassis lube, brake check type work? Take care, D
Good morning. I really appreciate your videos. I have a 1994 Beaver Patriot Stratton 37’ diesel pusher. When I connect the positive cable to the 4d chassis battery the air buzzer goes off even before starting the bus. When the air pressure builds to 60 psi it goes off. When I turn the vehicle off it keeps running and I disconnect the fuel pump which shuts it down. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated . Thank you. David from Maine.
I find it interesting how rv manufacturers use off the shelf automotive headlights and taillights and I can immediately tell what vehicle the taillights are from. This bus has early 90's volvo 760 taillights in a double stacked configuration
Hey Scott a suggestion if you can run a sprinkler over the ground and let the water soak it in I don't know if you had that much rain but water helps that compact better as just a suggestion James T North Carolina when you're super fans
I've never heard of a _'poisonous'_ moth yet, I guess it's possible - lol Doesn't seem like anything pink and yellow would be scary - maybe it's the late, Easter, moth - that bus sounds good! Cheers-

This is the first video that really made me feel the steepness of the hill.
Great test drive, can tell he's very pleased with the performance now. Good testament to doing the job right and the attention to detail. They will be beating a path to your door.
That wanderlodge is going to be fun to drive again now.
That was like 30 minutes of the most nervous laughter I've heard broken up with super awkward silence. I loved it! Nice rebuild.
I was thinking the exact same thing & not gonna lie! Lol..the thought that just maybe Jerry had been a serial killer at some point in his life..😂
@@frederickjohnpicarello1909 😂👍

I like your client,a fearless man of few words.
Good listener!

In my personal opinion, 1980s Blue Birds in general have nicer styling than later generations. The one on the video is still pretty cool though
You are truly a gift to all of us that haven't a clue to your knowledge, thank you I am learning so much
I like that the owner/driver is actually the co-pilot, Great team work!
That road towards the end really makes me wanna get my bike out! Lovley!
You’ve made a sports car out of her!
Great job!
Great Bus!
Sounds fantastic folks .........WOW, what a difference.......
Incredible Moth
Just a thing of beauty
How lovely spring is making your part of the world - that was a really enjoyable drive😀
You are an amazing man. You keep so many buses on the road.
Drifting in a Wanderlodge. Cool!
"Cheater marks" are range marks on aircraft. Helps make the gauge scan go faster. Great idea!
Great repair by the master bus mechanic 🧰
I love the Wanderlodge’s! If we decide on a class A I will be looking at them as one of the few serious options.
amazing how that motor sounds good !! great job 😃
Another happy customer! Gosh I remember my old 83 Wanderlodge topped out at 65!! Of course she had an old 3208 in the front!
Crazy test drive!
Beautiful country side!
Enjoyed ever minute
Awesome video bro, the view out the front window shows how lovely spring is. Safe travels up your way
That was a Rosy Maple moth, thanks, it was kewl looking!
I love that cockpit! It's a masterpiece!
Wow what a nice scenic drive. All those hills and the hammer down would have done wonders for bedding in those new pistons and rings.

Yes like an
Nice work on the rebuild guys well done tons of work but we'll worth the effort it.
Road test was cool Scott you sounded like you were having a couple white knuckle moments through it. Lol
It sounds great! The TN countryside is beautiful in spring.
It's nice to watch a smart driver who pays attention to his equipment and surroundings.
Great looking, now sweet running lodge.
Another old boy smart enough to use distilled water in his coolant mix. Restores my faith in humanity that does.
A great drive through the local countryside! Enjoyed the ride along perspective as the Wanderlodge got a workout.
When driving in the south its always a good idea to check up a rxr crossings.
Nice job Scott very beautiful country

that engine just sounds soooo much better than it didn when it first arrived. Nice Work!!!

Always nice to see a progression forward of a business.
Yep! Rosy Maple Moth. Beautiful.
That test drive was very impressive!
When you said your bus wouldn't accelerate up that hill like that, I just knew he was going to respond, "Well I know a good mechanic" lol oh well maybe he thought it! Lol
Wish our Silversides could pull hills like that! Nice.
The propane boost kit he put on my 6-71 (and has on his) is a game-changer on the hills.
42:10 "the last 2 wanderlodges have really helped out with the budget for the shop". Yea. That they do.
I love that dash cluster setup.
Those Volvo 740 taillights look much better than most appropriated car units.
that winding road goes through Beautiful Country .
Great job. If I ever retire and buy a nice MC 7 or 8, I'll be seeing you.
Gauges, switches, lights all over the place! That looks more like the space shuttle than RV :)
Nice to see hard work and skill pay off. That motor will run for many years.
Great sceneries, great roads!
I believe that's a rosy maple moth? according to Wikipedia
Nice couch
Yep I googled it and your correct.
Should be called a Trump moth for obvious reasons.
Nice to see progress on all project's in hand
Great job on the rebuild.
Your roads
I'd rather be riding my Harly through your area on a sunny day 🤗🤗🤗
We are just North East of Nashville this week.
Brrrrrr this Wednesday am.
Scott, if it flys it will scare the snot out of me” you are such a Girly Man...😂 i love it brother 😂😂😂
Next on the list - a set of Jakes to help on the downhills!
When I first seen it I thought someone had dropped their multicolored icecream cone. Cheers !
Might be me new favorite video on that winding road.
Sweatin’ bullets on this ride...
I have seen so much of your local roads now that I feel that I almost live there....
a great work out of the bus.
That bus is mint!!
We used Bates engines that used to be in Centerville it was a long ride but worth it. Good folks out that way..
Seems it holds the road pretty well, especially for a taller vehicle, like a bus...
I thought I was hearing tyre squeal for a while, but it was probably the power steering.
Awesome job, guys ;) really great work.
Might oughtta trim that tree at 5:38 before your juice goes out. Great job on the engine repair.
nice work on the Wanderlodge rv, keep the videos coming
Nerdy observation: Those rear light clusters sure look like those of a 1990-ish Volvo 740.
Sweet end result. Bus ran great.
They are... The three-year only versions that are kinda hard to find on the used market. At least they aren't the 1990 760 versions or the 780 versions.
Going to have to patreon it one of these days, love the footage on these builds but funds are little tight right now.
I love the nice smooth roads...Another job well done.
Wow the dogwood looks gorgeous
Thatis one smooth handling bus.
Nice video! That guy sure knows how to drive his bus! Some drivers you´ve recorded I woudn´t take a ride with :)
Realy nice place you live in. Looks a lot like the area I live in Sweden. Except for the yellow line thoose country roads could be around here.
Great ride & test drive but I'm pretty sure he was making the mechanic just a lil nervous 😓 with that lead foot! Lol never thought they needed a real view mirror..
We have lots of silver leaf and red maple trees and these moths love them.
So you’re finally starting to work on DDEC buses ? Cool
Man I thought I had a lot of play in my bus’s steering until I saw this guy drive
That last road home got the engine to use a lot more rev’s and deceleration.
Good for it.,
Rosy Maple Moth. Very pretty!
Another fantastic job scott...
Can you Say Professional...
He did everything to make it a comfortable ride....😰🥸
Buzzing around in a bus like that would be a lot of fun....
Wow does that DD look and sound sooo much better👍

Moth is a small angel from God to see what your reaction is
It seems like a lot of the tour buses, especially are either using the Detroit 60s series or the 3406 cat engine.
Cool Video Engine rebuild a success !!!!
I find it interesting how rv manufacturers use off the shelf automotive headlights and taillights and I can immediately tell what vehicle the taillights are from. This bus has early 90's volvo 760 taillights in a double stacked configuration
And Vogue used Cadillac Fleetwood headlights and turn signal from about 1988-96 on the Prima Vista motor home
Damn for a 2 stroke Detroit that thing is quite as hell
Wow that sounds so good!!!!(Start up)
Hi Scott its called the rosy maple moth or aka milkshake moth usually found in north America or Canada
For the size of that Wanderlodge, she was certainly accelerating pretty darn well..
great watching you work, when are you going to build yourself an enclosure
Hey Scott a suggestion if you can run a sprinkler over the ground and let the water soak it in I don't know if you had that much rain but water helps that compact better as just a suggestion James T North Carolina when you're super fans

You do good work Scott,,,,,,,(Indy also,,),,😍
