I really enjoyed this video. Wow, that really was a fabric haul. I especially like the gauze animal with the solid black. Classy! I wish I had a sewing buddy to shop with. So many times I go to JoAnns and nothing appeals to me. I'm in a rut lately and have been stuck on simple knit tops since my retired lifestyle doesn't require anything fancy. Many blessing to you. I am just about to make that New Look shirt (the male version) for my hubby and I have made it a couple of times before with success. I also have that bomber jacket pattern I just can't seem to find the right fabric for it, a lightweight one just isn't right for our climate. You certainly have lots of patterns and fabric to get the year going. Love your styles and choices. Thanks for sharing 😊

Hey Grace, you sure have some beautiful fabrics the vogue red and black piece is my favorite it will be a date night dress with the husband for sure! Grace, did you make the ties on simplicity 8601 longer Jen made it and said the ties were too short but, it looked fine on you. One suggestion I would have is to wear a belt with some of those animal print fabrics. I am so excited to see all your makes.
Hi Mary, I did not lengthen the ties in S8601. It worked out perfect. It was a fairly easy make except it just took extra effort to make the stripes all line up. I like the pattern and I recommend it. I'm looking forward to a busy sewing year! Thanks for the belt suggestion.

Could you show how you fit your patterns or you calculate which pattern you cut and make? I like seeing your steps, thought process and steps to get from A to Z
I usually measure my bust, waist and hips and try to match with the finished garment measurements on the pattern. If the fabric is a knit, I go a down a pattern size. If the fabric is a woven, I keep the suggested size. Since patterns vary, I usually make a quick mock of the garment using a muslin or scrap fabric before I cut into the real fabric.
