    Van Gogh's story always breaks my heart. To quote the song by Don McLean,
    "Now I understand
    What you tried to say to me
    How you suffered for your sanity
    How you tried to set them free
    They would not listen, they did not know how
    Perhaps they'll listen now"
    His soul was not meant for this world or how it treated him. Dirt poor and broken in life, only to be venerated after death. Reminds us to see the beauty in others now, before they're gone.

      It’s so devastating. He was such a tortured soul.

    I was here precovid of 2020, just to see the starry night over the rhone. I made sure it was here and was soooo excited. It was not there. It was packed up in the basement on its way on loan to boston. I cried much more than a grown woman should have.
    I have still never viewed it in person.

    How come most of these paintings were really big or small... I didn't realize that the Mona Lisa was a small/medium painting and it got stolen... twice...I happen to like Starry Night and the Mona Lisa (I know she's in the Louvre) You know that they made a movie with Kirk Douglas... I don't understand why he would cut off his ear 👂 I know it's madness but that's crazy...Jean Marie Calmont who lived to 122 yrs old knew Van Gogh and she is to have said that he smelled like paint and she didn't care for him

    Ma’am thank you so much. I saw all 3 parts - this is amazingly you have captured with details.
    We will be there on 13th may would like to know a few things
    1. First part you shoot in ground floor?
    2nd part in 5th floor?
    How do we know which floor has which artist collection

    • @TheMuseumGuide
      @TheMuseumGuide  Рік тому

      The first floor is pre-impressionist and the 5th floor is Impressionism and post Impressionism. It’s very easy to understand when you get there!
      Thank you for watching. :)

    I am realy curious about the painter, Why some of their work is took years even decades to finish, while other just need minutes, like picaso or dali, yah their painting is suck, but why they decide to call it finished at the frist place 🤔.

    Thanks. I love art history. Just a note trying to help: Your reference pictures are often incorrect. I'll give one example. 11:25 VG didn't paint 2 of those "self-portraits". This is a good channel and because of that, you're going to get nitpickers like me. Aren't museums great?

    • @TheMuseumGuide
      @TheMuseumGuide  2 роки тому

      This has made me giggle - I like your style. Good eye! This one was a premade collage- I must admit, I didn’t even notice.
      However, I knowingly used a different one he didn’t paint because it was too perfect. ;) I knew someone would spot it.
      You say often- did I mess up any other times?

    • @fishpants3877
      @fishpants3877 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheMuseumGuide You never " mess up". You're lovely. Making these videos is the hard part. You're really nailing that. The easy part is fact-checking reference photos and stuff. I'll leave that to you. And enough with me picking nits xxx.
