Ralez I think it's got a lot to do with graham norton's openness and warmth but also the effects of british television. I don't know if it's true or not but as far as I've noticed british tv is far more laid back and british comedy is also far better than what americans are used to.

+mayagold10 Well, to be fair, it's not really their fault. Every little thing tends to offend Americans so the hosts have to keep all those in mind and try to be as polite as possible. It also doesn't help that Americans love to sue people. A woman won a court case against McDonalds because she wasn't warned that the hot coffee she ordered was hot.

Nobody doesn't like Meryl Streep. Her secret I think is that she's a genuinely happy person, she knows who she is, and can laugh at herself. That makes her a rare bird in the world of actors.

This is such a brilliantly designed chat show. Everyone shows up without ego and simply has a good time sharing and connecting! I think in North America celebrity 'handlers' are all standing in the wings with list in hand of what can and cannot be discussed etc...At the end of the day, we are all just people, perfectly imperfect!!!

Drew even had him on her show and both talked about it and the time they met some years after shooting Music and Lyrics and started making out in the middle of the restaurant. Lol

She was joking that Hugh gave her notes. So she took it well unlike him who was offended by it. :)
@@lstt7845 Hugh said that Drew Barrimore gave him notes, which is feedback/direction about how to act, the implication being that Hugh was offended by it and thus he and Drew didn't much like each other afterward. It's not something an actor, especially with such experience, should give another. When Hugh asks Meryl Streep (!) how she would react in such a situation, she jokes by saying that Hugh gave her some and she took them well. She's kidding, but definitely a demonstration of her sharp wit.

Norton is a master of his craft. He allows people time to think and respond instead of dominating proceedings, which must come as quite a novelty to his American guests.

It's okay to be nervous, I think you have to just allow yourself to be nervous and accept it instead of desperately trying to stop your anxiety. It sort of amplifies it when you try to stop it. If anything being nervous is good because being calm means you're not doing something you're excited about.
