Honestly, I can't see how it's going to work. Either the guys are going to have to hold back on physicality, or the girls are just not going to have fun. It's nice in theory but I can't see how it'll work in practice

@@FW10826 You're right that some are, but it's really uncommon (especially if you're comparing 2 regular people). That's where the issue lies.
If you put an average guy and an average girl together, the girl could easily have better skills/accuracy/technique. But, that becomes useless if the other player will always outpace you and can send your flying with a shoulder barge.
It's like an in shape 21 year old playing with a skilful 12 year old. The kid might be better football wise, but you'd just physically dominate them to the point where skill is irrelevant

Well the it's not inequality really.. Women are more likely to get injured playing against men who are much stronger. So insurance is gonna be higher. If it was only women playing, insurance wouldn't be that high.. Still would be nice to see a mix, but can't blame it on inequality

Tbh, never heard of her before the event because I'm apart of the core die hard football fans mentioned in the video that does follow, Thogden, ChrisMD, StuntPegg and Goldbridge etc. Nevertheless it was a charity event so it thought a bubbly down to earth kind of presenter would be perfect for that and she did well. Everyone at the event made it entertaining and raised considerable amount of money.

I suppose also with a mix of gender could be dangerous in that, men are generally stronger and big and can be aggressive so if there was a female player who harms themselves then that’s on the creators of the event and that’s probably why the insurance is so expensive

I really don’t understand why they aren’t acknowledging the obvious factor involved, the physical differences between men and women, and to a lesser extent footballing ability (which isn’t as important here). For it to work, you’re either gonna have to tell the men to go easy on the females and not tackle as hard, not run as fast, etc. Which isn’t only patronising to women, but annoying as fuck for the men. And if you just let them play, the women will likely have a terrible time, and probably end up standing around because they can’t keep up. That’s just the facts of the matter and I’m surprised jack of all people didn’t acknowledge the elephant in the room when it comes to mixed gender sports.
I agree this point is obviously relevant when it comes to pretty much any form of competitive organised sport, but for this, the quality and athleticism isn't high enough to worry about this. There are loads of female creators who are fitter than all of the guys involved in this and therefore could easily keep up with the game, truth of the matter is the FA can't base their insurance costs based off games like this. So don't think they needed to bring this topic up

Even if it’s not about competition, the people playing are still trying to win and putting in a certain amount of effort, that’s a fact that you could see for yourself. Would Ollie ball do a tackle like the one he did on a girl? No, probably not. And there lies the problem. Like I said, either you’d have boys deliberately going easy on the girls, which is shit and a bit patronising. Or the girls would have a terrible time. It doesn’t have the be the World Cup genius, there’s a reason amateur teams separate boys and girls.

If the number aren't there look to ex players to bolster the numbers and draw attention. Karen Carney does a lot of charity and FA work and I'm sure would be interested. Women coaches and staff. There's also trans and non binary footballers and content creators who could also be considered.
No such equality when it comes to insurance. The insurance companies saying it cost way way more to insure female football players against injury then it is to insure male football players for injuries. Next time, just be upfront about why you can't do something. If your not allowed to say something for legal reasons then just say the event cannot go ahead due to legal issues. Never leave it open ended because that way it allows people to make accusations.

Was your tournament broadcast all over one of the biggest platforms in the world with thousands watching? I think not. So they need to make sure all the insurances are in place and if they weren’t, they’d be sued to fuck as it’s a very public event. With your tournament, I doubt it was broadcast to thousands, so the people making it probably didn’t give a fuck about the insurance policies.

You also neglect to mention the fact that it is a mental health charity, and women are more likely to suffer from mental health problems.
