    Nice bike. I own a Yamaha XT600E 2001 and in my part of the UK i have only ever seen one other XT600 in 13 years of ownership. I recently took mine apart to paint the frame and install another used swingarm which i painted as old swingarm was badly rusted. In the process of trying to remove the engine i managed to break an exhaust stud, which i tried to take out with easy-outs and they broke too and drilling the stud made a mess. So i found a good used cylinder head on ebay in Italy which i ordered and fitted to replace the one with the broken exhaust stud mess which i had created. Engine seems to run fine and have only took it out once for a ride so far as weather has been rubbish and don't really want to get it mucky after spending time renovating it, haha. I love old thumpers, although i do also own a Suzuki SV650 2001 which i converted to naked version recently, gotta love the sound of a v-twin too.

    Man that's a beautiful bike. I'm hopeing to get my 89 running as we speak. I'll toss a video up if I'm successful but I have a feeling the carbs need to be ran through by a professional, not me. I like those tires too, did u purchase locally or online?

    Awesome build. I have an 1987 2kf that I would love to put some supermoto tires on. What tires are they, and are those the stock wheels?

    • @NewRetroMotorcycles
      @NewRetroMotorcycles  6 років тому

      Panos Smyrnios thanks for watching mate, the tyres are AVON RoadRiders and there on the stock rims. I wanted the bike to be original but I don't really go off road on it anymore so just wanted a comfy/quieter ride.

      Hi you want to look at eBay but not your countries eBay. So like for Germany goto eBay.de and search there. I found my tank in South Africa Vis gumtree. I also have a spare tank but it is in bad shape.

      Eventually I have to prep my engine for a 3500klm Charity ride.
      Tappets are on the list, keep n eye out for if it helps.
      Hopefully it's not the cam or drive chain slapping about...?

    • @NewRetroMotorcycles
      @NewRetroMotorcycles  7 років тому +1

      MrFalloffalot CrashTestDummy TV the reason the engine sounds tappy a side from my phones mic, is mainly due to the tolerance preset into the valves, once warmed up its pretty smooth for a thumper. another sound they are well known for is piston slap, glad to say I dont have that. Thanks for watching.

    • @MrFalloffalot

      Got mine rebuild a few years ago (haven't raced/ridden since then(flat-track)), so I'm hoping it'll hold up.
      Hopefully its just tappets.
