if you take that route east from Sandpoint into Montana, right after clark fork you'll find a random junkyard on the side of the highway with nothing but 1930s and 1940s vehicles it's so awesome
I love Sandpoint, but everything north of Sandpoint is beautiful, okay everything south in Idaho isn’t bad either. We started thinking we wanted to live in Hayden but went to Bonners Ferry for a day trip fell in love and bought a house in Naples Idaho and absolutely love it.
I have family in Sandpoint and lived there many years ago. It truly is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Not the best place to earn a living but a wonderful place to live if you can afford it.
We live in Hope, we LOVE IT! Sandpoint with its larger population it is nicer than down south. The biggest plus is that WE can eat the fish out of the lake. There was not the mining here so the Mercury is not here in the lake or fish. The work is not as abundant here, but I have found a job that pays about half or what of what I made down south. I have a mountain going up my back yard. I have bear poop in my front yard in the spring and summer. Trusstle creek runs through my neighbors back yards. Deer, elk and mountain lions run around here. I don’t go out in my yard without a side arm. I retired here ( my work is VERY part time). We will live out our days at this house. But, a word of warning……….. we’re full here!😅😅😅😅
There ain't shit in hope, id. Zero jobs people. Winters are a bitch. Yall don't tell the truth. Idaho pays lowest min wage around. Navy does sub testing in that lake. Fricken cold af. 95 from SP to CDA is a shit show
I grew up in Spokane, and left in 1974. I moved my family back to Spokane to take care of mom in 1992. One of the fist things we did as a young family was take a trip up to Sandpoint. All three kids loved it! We swam at the beach all afternoon and then explored restaurants for dinner. We moved away shortly after that trip because of work, and I miss it dearly! It’s such a gorgeous place through all 4 seasons… I just love it there. So many trees! So many places to fish! So many scenic spots! Retiring soon and hope to be back up there very soon!
I can tell what time of year you filmed this by how scruffy the deer are! I love the fact that I can walk off my property and over look the long bridge. Still want to watch the fireworks on the 4th from the top of the hill, that would be cool but sitting on the old bridge is awesome for the 4th. Oh BTW, Sandpoint and Sagle are full.
I came to Sandpoint in the mid 60's, it was a very nice place to live then and up through the mid 90's. But since roughly 2010 it has been getting not so nice, and especially since 2020 it has gotten ugly with all the people and the not so friendly attitudes that have come with all the people. The city planners, influenced by Boise, created an absolute mess for driving around Sandpoint. The roads and traffic lights are not capable of handling the amount of traffic that has descend upon the small town. For the most part the long time residents are starting to leave, or are not happy anymore if they can't leave, because things have changed so much. Yes it's beautiful here, but not at all what it used to be, because the small quiet town has been inundated by way too many residents that came from ugly cities. And probably the most undesirable part of Sandpoint now is that there are almost no places to earn a living that can facilitate living here.
I agree, Sandpoint is gorgeous! The first time we did a day trip from Post Falls (lived in North Idaho my whole life, Post Falls nearly 25 years), my first thought was, "Why haven't we done this before?!" And, "We need to do this often!" I think we'd just never had a need to venture farther north than Cocolalla.
I kind of thought Sandpoint would be your choice here. I grew up there and will be returning there. I agree with everything you said and would add a few more amenities to your list: 1) Restaurants. There are lots of quality restaurants in town plus a short drive to Hope gives you a few more high-end choices. 2) In the summer, weekly farmers market and (right across the street) a small pod of food carts. 3) Hiking trails. Notable is the Mickinnick Trail right on the edge of Sandpoint (trail is 3.5 miles one-way, medium difficulty, and ends at a vast overlook of Sandpoint and the lake).
Please let us know before you come to town. I would love to meet you and hear about what the other side of the world is like post-pandemic. Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care! Trent@livinglifenorthidaho.com
@LivingLifeNorthIdaho I will contact you for sure ! I was inspired by your videos and I've started creating mine 😊Really hope to meet you ! All the best my friend
Absolutely, Stanley has a very special place in my heart, hence why I haven’t blasted it to the world on my channel. But with the ski resort, lake, and downtown, Sandpoint is number 1 for me.
You have farming communities or track homes! I don’t want to be around track homes! I wasn’t farms on both sides of me and or state and federal land in my back land! Does it have Sturgeon?
Thank you Trent for the great video and information. I do have a question that the video did not cover, we love Sandpoint, but we’re informed that local politics is beginning to lean towards a liberal mindset. Trent, please let me know if this is a bad rumor or is there some truth to it? Thank you.
I'm from Sandpoint. Yes, Sandpoint has taken a "blue turn" in politics. However, a local resident told me that recently when the city council wanted to make Sandpoint a sanctuary city and had a town meeting to discuss it, the local residents made it manifestly clear that they did not want this and the resolution didn't pass.
We have our fingers crossed that never happens in Idaho, we’ve all seen very clearly what that political mindset damages, and I pray 🙏🏼 that Idahoans hold steadfast to their values and views that make Idaho one of the greatest states in the Nation. ❤️
Perhaps someone else has asked already, but where is Lake Pend Oreille 1700 feet deep? Max depth should be 1150 however, it’s still the fifth deepest in the US.
I have lived here my whole life. It’s God‘s country truly beautiful lots of wilderness surrounded by water one of the most beautiful valleys I’ve ever seen and not crowded by a lot of people remote can do all the things that you said about Sandpoint as far as skiing boating hunting, swimming just home
Little known fact: most people who move to Sandpoint will flee after 2 or 3 winters. Oh certainly, it's pretty, but if you don't really enjoy getting buried in snow for 8 months and living with life threatening cold then you best look elsewhere.
Did exactly that😊, and we were no strangers to snow. Yes, pretty area but so glad to be out of there. Winters are dark and long, and if you don't love winter sports, you'll hate it
WELL it use to be BUT then people like you started coming and then started making videos like this.. THEN the hoards came and the GREEDY locals saw how to make a LOT of money by inflating the price of property. Beauty MOSTLY survived !!! I owned property in Bonner county for more than 40 years. Age and health moved me to warmer climates. In 1972 I bought 40 acres with 3 year around creeks for $5,000.00. I MISS IT THERE BUT NO WAY can I afford to move back !!!
Holy Cow! Average home price is 600k?! Your channel obviously caters to a different segment of society. Is there anything for normal Americans who average 100k annual income?
The actual city of Sandpoint cannot geographically grow anymore. This realtor isn't telling you the boundaries and planning issues, the water issues, the limited public access to the lake and Priest river, or the number of perpetual trains. South of the Long Bridge is the community of Sagle, west is the city of Dover and north is the city of Ponderay - each touching the boundaries of Sandpoint. Litehouse dressing is the only large corporation within the city limits of Sandpoint. There's a SuperOne Foods and Safeway in Sandpoint, a Home Depot and large Walmart in Ponderay. Costco is a 40 minute to 1.5 hour drive to Coeur d'Alene. The most beautiful city in Idaho? That's a personal opinion and many Idaho residents would disagree. FYI - a paid tram ride will take you to the top of Schweitzer Mountain to get the view in the beginning of this video. And the deer pictured . . . not very healthy looking from my decades of watching wildlife. This message is from a former northern Idaho and Wyoming resident.
You have farming communities or track homes! I don’t want to be around track homes! I wasn’t farms on both sides of me and or state and federal land in my back land!
We moved here almost 10 years ago from Bellingham, Wa., (another beautiful city *but sadly has become overcrowded, woke nightmare*) We live in Clark Fork, 7 miles out of town in the wilderness. The drive to and from Sandpoint around Lake Pend Oreille is just gorgeous❣️🏞️Family and friends come to visit and we love to take them up to Schweitzer during the season, and into the town of Sandpoint in the summer to hang out at City Beach, shop the Cedar St. Bridge Mall, and all the other various quaint shops. It is growing though. There are a lot of new construction apartments/condos in the last few years.
The town is beautiful. The once wonderful people of Sandpoint have all been driven out by rich, entitled, snotty and arrogant out of staters from California and New England. Too expensive to live there now.
Sandpoint is pretty racist. I went to 219 lounge and people were acting like I was from Mexico. I am a darker skinned white guy. Some patrons were asking me how to say things in Spanish. It was not cool. Screw that trashy town.
I loved Sandpoint! So beautiful.

Thanks for the great tour !
Nothing against Sandpoint, but I love Stanley ID myself, but not much of a town. Sawtooths are amazing.
You should do a video on midtown in coeur d'alene, trader joes is opening there.
I have seen deer and moose inside the Coeur d'Alene city limits.

@SAHAMH123 sounds like my family with Huntington Beach. It is good to know family history isn’t it?
@@LivingLifeNorthIdaho thanks for the video’s!!!

Thank you @elainekenny9341. Appreciate getting some love from my audience.

Thorne moved to SC almost 10 years ago. And two major ones you missed are Kodiak aircraft and Diedrich coffee roasters. Sandcreek resident ✌️
Would love to have seen the actual town more. 99% of the video was the camera pointing at you 🤦🏻♀️
I didn’t know Thorne was based in Idaho! That is so cool!
It was. I’m friends with the couple that started it, but they divorced and sold about 8-10 years ago and the company moved to the plant to SC. 😊✌️
Agree 100%
I was born there in 1952, lived in Naples till I went into the Army in 69.

shhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone!!!
agree, thank you!
Greetings from Greece, Idaho is in my plans for the future ! I love the real America

I think McCall is the prettiest town in Idaho. I love Sandpoint though I had a great time there.
I love my place up near Sandpoint!
One other industry in Sandpoint: Kodiak aircraft (located at the airport) builds airplanes.
That’s right! I forgot about them. They build amazing aircraft.
Sandpoint is, indeed, gorgeous. However, my vote for prettiest town in Idaho is Stanley. That view of the Sawtooths cannot be beat.
Absolutely, Stanley has a very special place in my heart, hence why I haven’t blasted it to the world on my channel. But with the ski resort, lake, and downtown, Sandpoint is number 1 for me.
Thorne relocated to the east coast. The price of my house tripled in the last 6 years. Very expensive to live here.
Is there tractor supplies stores?
Absolutely!
There's a huge store there called North 40 which is even better, IMO
Why doesn’t anyone mention Diedrich Roasters? Company was founded here in the 1980s and manufactures coffee roasters that are sold worldwide.
You have farming communities or track homes! I don’t want to be around track homes! I wasn’t farms on both sides of me and or state and federal land in my back land! Does it have Sturgeon?
That’s definitely doable. And yes, three places that offer sturgeon fishing here in Idaho.
it that Base🌲Camp the development by Williams Homes?
I LOVE Thorne supplements! 😁 Sandpoint is a beautiful area.
A chair lift that carries 6 skiers/riders is called a "Six Pack". Nice video
LOL, I should have guessed that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you Trent for the great video and information. I do have a question that the video did not cover, we love Sandpoint, but we’re informed that local politics is beginning to lean towards a liberal mindset. Trent, please let me know if this is a bad rumor or is there some truth to it?

You call it a six pack. I believe Alterra bought Schweitzer not Vail Resorts. Nice video.
I would live there, but I work at costco.
Saint Maries is the best town in Idaho
Oooh, I’m interested in why you think that? @cyndisgreenoasis6571
Not even close. If you like stinky water

Beauty great but corruption is huge problem

Stop these videos, it just promotes more people to move here! Bummer
Pretty town but I hate all the people who visit it.
I live in Sandpoint. The politics are bad. We try to ignore it and the people who marinate in it. Other wise It is heaven here.
You have farming communities or track homes! I don’t want to be around track homes! I wasn’t farms on both sides of me and or state and federal land in my back land!
Sandpoint. It's The New Lake Tahoe, Idaho. Just kidding. Priest Lake is nicer.
Where the Polish delis at?
Alterra purchased Schweitzer June 2023
I disagree. This place is terrible. Don't move here.
We moved here almost 10 years ago from Bellingham, Wa., (another beautiful city *but sadly has become overcrowded, woke nightmare*)

Hmm. I was born in Sandpoint.
He's lying!! Idaho is full! He's a sellout...
Is this where Instagram was founded? That's the rumor I heard.
The town is beautiful. The once wonderful people of Sandpoint have all been driven out by rich, entitled, snotty and arrogant out of staters from California and New England. Too expensive to live there now.
My vote Grace, ID...

Apparently the most beautiful town is the inside of your car.
Sandpoint is a bunch of weirdos.
Apparently, Sandpoint has vast amounts of black leather in it, and not much else....
Meh!
