Just finished making my first ojyma bag which I'm quite pleased about, not perfect but definitely acceptable (it's just me that knows the little mistakes). I bought the hardware kit and I have to say that the quality is brilliant and I'll definitely buy hardware from you again. Keep up the good work.
It’s going to be a butterfly one for these boxes but if you specifically want a “bee kind” hexagon zip then I can add a note to your order to have one of those instead. I should hopefully see the note when I pack the box ☺️
Hi Jo I just made my first and I absolutely love this pattern❤ I made it from duck canvas and the thick waterproof canvas you recommended. I managed. Just 😅 but it was a struggle. I have an old frister Rossman panda which is pretty good (I can make vinyl straps with it) but I really struggled with the thickness. Is it likely to be me or am I expecting too much from my machine? Top stitching was wonky and skipped stitches and final construction was a battle of wills 😂 (sorry I’m inundating you with questions atm I’m an over excited newbie😂 Btw interfaced with your woven, used foam and used denim needle
I think duck canvas with woven fix is probably the issue. Duck canvas is quite thick if I remember correctly. A lighter interfacing would be recommended or possibly no interfacing at all.
@@CountryCowDesigns thanks I think I’m going to try waterproof canvas on outside and cotton lining next time then try my duck canvas again without interfacing. I loved the structure of it really sturdy but I don’t think my machine is talking to me anymore 🤣
Oooh it depends what kind of labels and where you are, but there’s lots of shops on Etsy that do really good ones. In the USA there’s a place called Heartwood & Hide that I’ve heard recommended a lot 😁
It’s depends on how many layers your sewing. But I tend to start with 80 and then move upto a 100 for the final binding. A universal needle will work fine
Looks like a great bag, grabbed the pattern already! Fancied some of the oilskin being used, but that's a little pricy. Do you know of any equivalents anywhere?
Hello! There is a seller on Etsy that says they collaborated with you on the templates they made for this bag. Are the templates made exactly the way you cut your fabric? For example, in your video tutorial, you mentioned that one of the pieces were wider on the top and thinner on the bottom. Do the acrylic templates already have that shape or must they be trimmed? I'm considering buying the template because it's very difficult for me with a paper pattern. Thank you very much.
Dry oil wax is very similar to waxed canvas. It’s usually something you generally only find at Merchant and Mills whereas waxed canvas can be found in most places. Waxed canvas is usually a heavier materials and gives more patina. It’s very easy making the bag out of cotton as long as you interface it
There are two places you can buy templates for our patterns kallosphere.co.uk/search?type=product%2Carticle%2Cpage&q=Ojyma www.etsy.com/shop/ARCexpressions
For this one, it’s made by a fabric company called Ruby Star Society. It’s possible that there’s shops in India that stock their fabrics, but I’m not certain
I could watch your videos every single day I so much enjoy watching your tutorials

Thanks. You can select dollars to convert the prices on the website
Hi Jo/Adam, can you tell me what type/size needle/s you used for this. I’m finally getting round to making mine 😊
It’s depends on how many layers your sewing. But I tend to start with 80 and then move upto a 100 for the final binding. A universal needle will work fine

Where abouts are you? Which country? I’ve got a couple of recommendations but it depends where you are 😁
@@CountryCowDesigns Sorry, UK. 🙂 Also, just wanted to say that the insertion of the foam once the panels are made is genius! Not seen that before.

Hi there. The acrylic pieces are exactly the same as the paper pattern pieces
What is the difference between dry oil cloth and waxed canvas? Have you made this bag out of cotton only?
