I got my arse handed to me in a TvT last night and I checked his build on the replay. It looked pretty damn good. So I google it to see if there's any more information, and whadda you know - it's this build! I should've known you were behind this, uThermal!

tvt is kinda of a mixed composition right? but looking at all of this it seems to be very mech heavy
@@NeostormXLMAX A build with more than 1 barrack and ebays working infantry upgrades is always considered bio, even when 2+ factories are pumping supporting tanks or mines. At 9.45 he points out when you make the choice with this opening, as it transitions smoothly into both styles.

hey man been loving using this build every once in a while and ive had great success with it. A big problem ive been having with this build is that i seem to just die to proxy 1-1-1 marine tank viking pushes cause they start hitting right when i move out. Do you have any suggestions as to what a good response would be to it or is this build just hard countered by tank viking?

Hi UThermal! I cannot express how grateful I am for these videos. I've played the game for 10 years at masters level, and never truly thought about timings, and other intricacies you've been teaching. I have one question for this build: I was having trouble building my 2nd CC at 3:20 like you do -- 3:30 was the earliest I could afford -- until I noticed in the replay that you cut scvs once your main is saturated. Is this because getting the 2nd orbital/mules ASAP is better than the extra minerals from some long distance mining scvs + a later 2nd? I am a bit blind to some of the basic starcraft math such as this. On another note, I was thinking that one video I'd love to see from you is a lesson on improvising/reacting to situations where your build is disrupted and you need to make decisions like: Do I hunker down and defend? Do I expand, do I counter attack? Where do upgrades fit into this? I appreciated your tvp cheese lesson, and how you mention in every video the different possible offshoots or reactions to abnormal circumstances, but I would love an indepth video on the thinking and reasoning behind the different responses. Thanks!
Yep! You basically answered your own question there :P. Terran cuts scvs a lot of times, in this case where you're on 1base you cut scvs at 23 or 24 to make your second cc, another example is in TvP when you stop making scvs at 47 so you can afford your 3rd cc, 2 extra barracks etc. before continuing more scv production.

Tank viking is the hardest counter to this, on some maps you can run the reapers in the main instead and the hellions into the natural when hes distracted, but if the opponent doesnt mess up itll be hard for you

Hey -- I've never done the "standard gas cut" very much. Do most builds do it, and when do you consider going back to full gas saturation, just after 16 and then rally the next 2 before rallying to natural?
Never mind I see you actually answer it further in the video. I still am curious about timing and knowing how many refineries to get. I usuallly feel liek I'm floating a little too much gas.

The marine tank pushes vs protoss with bunkers are usually rather early, which means no stim. Without the bunkers, your army can be killed quite easily. The bunkers help you solidify those sort of pushes. Also they are specifically great vs zealots, since not only they protect the marines, they create a safe buffer for the tanks and minimize the surface the zealots have to attack.
@@alonshani6252 Thank you! Typically i notice protoss players f2 a move into my marine tank push before the bunkers are up. Do you try to hide the push until the bunkers are up (typically around the protosses 3rd)? I tend to get eco damage but have my push cleaned up and struggle onwards.
@@senside So what's nice with this build is that you have more harass going while this push happens. If they commit all units you do damage with harass. If they send too little, they could lose the fight. If you get amoved, and they aren't playing a 2 base build, maybe your bunkers aren't being set up in the correct spot. Even when building, they should help you cover the tanks (together with your marines). And if your opponent is playing blink, you do want to take a path that is less direct to try and hide your push, but don't delay it all too much.
Hey Uthermal..thanks for this video. Around the 19 minute mark, you mention always clicking your opponents marines after you scan. When I do this in my games, I can't tell what their upgrade status is. Do I have to change a setting? am i stupid? any and all feedback helps.

Do I see this correctly, you cut SCV's to afford a faster 2. CC? Thanks very much for your build, its a lot of fun to play! So far i havent been doing the cut and my 2. cc is soo late it seems. Do you recommend to cut scvs there?
In TvT when you do a 1base build you pretty much always cut at 23 scvs before the expand yep

You run by the bunker, the only time you have to go back is when they have a tank with their units next to it

Looks like a cool build but how would I proceed when choosing mech? Go to 3 fact, 2 armories, 4th base and up to 5 factories after that?
Yes, you add 2 more factories. Later 2 armories and after that 2 factories. You begin with making tank hellbat viking, and later on add thors. Balance the thor count according to how fast your opponent switches to air.
Looks like you answered yourself :P keep up the viking production too when playing mech!

just wanna put in my two cents on static D, i agree its preference in TvT, but it would also reflect the current state of the game, you were ahead in that point and can afford to play safely, whilst clem might feel he needed those resources to hang on in the game, and take a bigger risk. Agree/disagree?
Not necessarily, a lot of times the player that is ahead will be the one that starts dropping and attacking. Usually its the player thats behind that needs to find a way to survive

is it possible to play MMM with minimal tanks for defence? if so what rank could it get to? in WoL I was able to get masters with it. is it still semi-viable?
You can get to GM playing pretty much anything if youre good enough, I would definitely recommend to use tanks in TvT though. You would have to outposition your opponent a lot and do good damage with drops.

Ne way. I like the build. And i will be labbing it here shortly. I have just recently ran into the paradox that is TvT trying to climb the ladder.
Go rax, reaper, xpac. And arrive at the opponents base. And hes literally jumping down with 2 reapers. This dood went 3 rax. Double gas no add ons. Just full aggro boi.
- hop right into another one. TvT again. And as im making my reaper and my scv sees he has no natural. I make another rax. And keep my reaper at home. Like a newb. He built his cc high ground with basically no units, and expanded very quickly. And i realized it waaay too late.. ya.. games hard. This mu in particular.. i have, imo. A very solid bo against zerg, always mech.. with early bcs. And literally add more cyclones ass they add corruptors.. and against toss. I like having 2 factories. Something like 6-10 tanks always. And 2-4 ravens. I personally ctrl group all the siege units together. Its whatever. Just saying i feel like i have good control of the army and leap frogging tanks and libs for the kill.
But ya. TvT is a monster on its own. Literally if i would have atk'd the 2nd game i was refferring to. And just made a pack of reapers. Theres no way i dont win by just killing all his scvs. Its kind of triggering if im honest. Im specifically thinking about the first reaper. If they gi 2 rax instantly. And im waiting to scout cuz they walled.. i just suk..

I know this is old, but what if you used a medivac instead of the liberator and then dropped the hellions into the main and just jumped the reapers up? would that be better or worse at a low level do you guys think?
Its also a common version, I think the liberator makes it easier to execute though :)

Why 2 ravens at the start and then no more? They die in the first fight and then they're consigned to history?
the ravens are only there to defend until you have enough units/static defense to crush any shenanigans. a cyclone and a couple ravens can shut down any early drop builds, liberator harass, BC rush etc.

I've been away for a while and I have to say that ravens seem like trash compared to before. They appear to be more of an "oh crap I need ravens for their super situational abilities" rather than an awesome unit. Kinda limiting it's usefulness to master+ players. Not a fun unit anymore :(
Sad that such a good player explains so bad. Im sorry man, im sure ur skill is INSANE but its so hard to listen to you. Maybe only I feel this way. Still good video!
