    One of the reasons i love your vids, is that you show things how they really are! It feels like, for a lot of youtubers, everything just sort of works or goes well for them. However whenever i try and do a job on my car it's full of rusted bolts, stuck fittings, snapped pieces etc.... etc... and yours are some of the only vids when it feels like you're actually working on a real car and not some show room fresh car that's been made to look a little old.

    Hi Steve, great to see you back at it again. Listen, I'm sure I'm not going to be able to tell you that much, but I'm on my 3rd old BMW restoration and have definitely learnt the hard way. That car is way off being ready for paint yet. The bits of rust you refer to as surface where the panels overlap at the bottom of the B pillar and sills aren't, the rust is coming from underneath the overlap. Unless you un-stitch everything, which is obviously major work, rust will be back again quite quickly. The valance is repairable but not easy because of the curves involved, I assume a replacement would be aftermarket to be affordable. If so, there will undoubtedly be fitment issues to get over. Watching Yorkshire Car Restoration YT channel would be a good bet for you, you will see exactly what you are up against for the sill, floor and jacking point repairs. Other than that, we are all busting to see your journey on this project, who doesn't like an E30?!

    • @RestoreIt
      @RestoreIt  2 місяці тому

      Hey Bob, thanks for the feedback. Don't worry, I have no intentions of painting the car now, or any time soon. There is a huge list of things to do before I get to that, I just wanted to take a break from the mass of welding that is required, and after speaking with the painter, it was another job to do. My plan is to "finish" the topside of the car and everything inside before I start work on the bottom of the car, which includes the sills. There is a possibility that the front valance will come from a company similar to E30 Garage Norway, and therefore fitment shouldn't be so much of an issue. Thanks again for a great comment!

    The black rubbery strip along yhe sills used to be double sided tape that is originally used to hold the skirts (besides the clips) close to the body.
    The caulk at the left rear vent behind the bumper was added by someone at some stage to stop water from leaking in. I suggest you place the vents back with proper nautical caulk as these vents often leak and cause rust in the side pockets.

    Use Super Lock (SL) socket head - it's better and safer for hexagonal bolts.
    And please DO NOT use a ratchet wrench to remove rusty fasteners, they are not designed for such loads and can easily break. Instead use Drive Breaker\ Power Bar and then ratchet wrench.
    I wouldn't want your tools to break.

However, I get that promoting online casinos, even free to play ones like Jackpot World can be a sensitive topic. In this case I didn't have any other option but to accept the offer from the brand. The eye injury and the tooth surgery resulted in me falling behind, when I was already nowhere near where I wanted to be in terms of putting out content.
      As the bills never stop, as well as the needing to cover the costs of making the episodes and running the channel. I had to take the sponsor. It's not ideal, but my short term plan is move away from brand deals and fund the channel through other means, like Raffall and Patreon. I hope you can understand, Cheers.

    Here I am again, begging you to use leather or something that looks like leather for the seats and the inside of the car.

    I always enjoy and appreciate your work and I know you need sponsors but do you really need to promote gambling? These companies operate in the same way as drug dealers by gradually luring people in to the point of addiction.

      Thank you Malcolm, but sadly the short answer is yes, i really had to do it this time. The bills never stop (they actually just go up in price) and the channel costs a fair bit to run on its own. Its not ideal, but I plan to soon more away from brand deals and try other means of income, like Raffall and Pateron. Sorry to let you down!

      @@RestoreIt Not at all, we had a polite exchange and I think we understand and accept each other's view point; my real gripe is how football and the like has taken the money and the normalisation of gambling is impacting children and you will note from your own sponsor the games are brightly coloured and child-like, almost the fruit flavours of the vaping world you might say. End of rant, I love your channel btw and I hope you can make the numbers work to keep on sharing your work with us.
