Your last couple of videos seem to be a little jerky on Roku but fine on my laptop ... just thought you should know ... enjoy your videos and advice, we're in Brevard, south of Asheville ... Keep up the good work and putting out the videos ... thank you for your channel ...
That's strange, haven't heard too many other complaints so it might be Roku. Semper Fi to you by the way, I served in the USMC from 2008 - 2015 as an Artillery Cannoneer. Glad you're enjoying the videos, I've been through Asheville a few times. You can't beat the mountains of North Carolina!
@@SecureAcresNaturalBees Semper Fi, Brother ... I started out infantry and end up in the Airwing, spent 27 months in Nam and came home, I did 5 years 8 months and got an early out ... and now I'm in the beautiful mountains of NC ... Plan on building at least 4 20 frame Layens and 4 7 frame swarm traps ... hopefully I'll be able to get a couple swarms and go from there ... have both books from dr Leo and follow you and Enjoy Beekeeping out of Ga and am going treatment free ... Wish you luck this year and going forward ... keep putting out the videos and I'll keep watching ... maybe one day we can get together and talk ... take care and God bless you and yours ...
That's motivating! Let us know how you do during the swarm season, when we started in 2019 we only caught a handful but since then it's been the only way we get Bees. You might have to put an EGA on one of those hives!
Excellent video! One question... at 4:39 you said, "... if I'm being perfectly honest..." I don't understand this comment, why wouldn't you be "perfectly honest" throughout the entire video? Respectfully and Sincerely.
Thanks for watching, I'm expressing my honesty because deep down I want to tell people to just catch swarms at ground level because it's much easier that way. But the honest take is to put them 10 - 15 feet up in a tree because that gives you the highest chance of success. So if you want the absolute best way to catch Bees put them up high, but if you want my personal opinion I say catch them low for convenience.
You can always tilt the tree to make sure the trap is level. Just use a shovel, loosen the roots of the tree and...
True, we can also level our hives by scooping the dirt underneath until we're happy with it. 😉

SWARM TRAP!!!
is it important to find level trees for the swarm traps?
That tree can be growing upside down you just need a level swarm trap!
Do you ever have to rebait your swarm trap? if so how are you rebating? Love your videos!!
We generally rebait swarm traps once a year if a colony hasn't moved in. It's good to check your frames and make sure they're still in good shape.

Wonder if it would be easier to find the perfect spot first and carry the trap there second?
Probably, but when I'm not filming it's even easier to carry the swarm trap in a vehicle!
Do u have any videos of a swarm trap with bee's?... if so what is the link? Thx
Sure!
