Nailed it on the upper talk. The midsole I have to disagree with. As a bigger runner this shoe is fantastic. It's hard to find a shoe that doesn't bottom out or die on me. This felt fantastic start to finish on my 11 mile run. I don't often get to sub 8 mile pace, but the rare occasions that this has happened I would have also like it to be lighter. For me I always saw it as a daily trainer or long run shoe and it's excellent at that. Leaves my legs feeling great even after a double digit effort
For my birthday this Saturday, my wife has bought me a pair of the non dyed white strung v1. Saving them for the Weymouth 10k and Weymouth half marathon in March 😊
Too bad about this version but I’m glad they are trying new designs. I spun the StockX chance wheel and I’m waiting for a version 1 model to be delivered at $176 US. I’d love to see an Adizero Pro 4 using a strung upper. The upper on the pro 3 seems to be its weak point. Always glad to watch your reviews Ed.
As a fan of the V1, I was a bit skeptical when buying a pair of these and trying them for the first time. But after 100K in them now I can say that I am so pleasantly surprised by them. I really enjoy them so much (surprisingly). They're also much faster that I would have expected.
Version 1 is the most fun shoe I have ever run in and worth every penny. I think it will last till version 3, so I shall wait. Thanks, Edd, solid review as always.
I like the new version just as much as the original. I did have some wear on the back of my ankle in my first run. I managed to do a PB in a 1/2 marathon distance in my first run and another in my second run breaking 90 minutes. The 2nd PB I thought I was feeling unwell and was very surprised I went faster than ever. So maybe I love them because I just happened to run fast in them.
Great vid Edd. 👍Just bagged myself a pair of the OG Strung for £127.50 on SportsShoes (had a discount code). Planning on using them for my long runs in the build up to Manchester next April. 🤪
I absolutely love the responsiveness of the shoe but agree with you 100% about the toe box and lockdown. I wanted to wear them for Valencia but two long runs down and there were massive blood blisters on both my big toes…such a shame! Saucony Endorphin Elites are getting the nod instead.
Done 125 miles in my Prime X 2 Strung now. The stability is vastly improved, this makes the ride feel a bit boring compared to the original. I get rubbing in the region of the top lace holes which I solve with felt pads. Every run I do is faster than in other shoes for the same effort. 20.10 5k, year pb by 30 seconds. Half marathon training run in 1.38.16. 7.27 pace. Fastest in 10 years. Don't seem to tire, usually running faster at end. Definitely faster than original Prime X. The only shoe of mine that comes close is my Adios Pro 3. Seems testers have looked at the weight and decided they are only long run shoes. I've found out that the weight is not important. Like see testers actually try racing or doing faster runs, and give a full review.
I haven't had any problems with fitment on the PXS2. The upper feels great, the midsole is very cushy, and it is very stable. The only thing that bothers me about the shoe is that it is SO GODDAMNED HEAVY, but it is otherwise fantastic. I figure it's good for a leg muscle workout, especially the hamstrings as you really feel the weight on toe-off. I did a few runs in my PXS1 recently and I have to say that it remains superior to every other shoe I have. I used to have some issues with stability with it, but they key with the PXS1 is to get the upper really locked down so that your feet absolutely do not move inside the upper. Once that is sorted, it feels great.
I love both my OG PX and the PX2S. I do wish the v2 was lighter (and cheaper but a 40% off code helped) but the energy return is deceptively good and I haven’t noticed the weight on my long runs.
Edd. The picture you highlighted is the 2017 remastered release of the song. The picture of Greg Lake strumming his guitar on this special release was from the original video appropriately shot in Qumran, Israel near the caves where the dead sea scrolls were excavated. If you need to get in the mood to run, perhaps after staying up half the night to perform a gig, I can't think of no better song than Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's version of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare For the Common Man." That song gets me pumped up every time!
Going on the hunt for original Strung as I’m finishing up with original PrimeX now, it’s just a trainer now. It owns both my worst and best marathon times…
Hey Edd, nice work on the videos. I got my hands on a pair of the V1 Strung. They are on their way. Looking forward to checking them out. Got them discounted by 40%. $250 Downunder credits (132 GBP). I could not go past them for that price. You're "On the Rise Edd."
I ran the Loch Ness Marathon in the V2 and despite having a pretty bad calf, I was somehow able to cruise in these shoes, without making my calf unbearable. It was like I was coasting at a reasonable pace without really noticing it. Definitely not as much fun as the V1 but they seem a very efficient shoe, didn’t really notice the weight until near the end of the Marathon.
I wanted to like the Strung version because the original was just so darn good. I ordered both the V1 and V2 and returned both. Just doesn't have the lockdown that the original Celermesh did. I really want that upper back along with a better lacing system.
I found the V1 on offer at a local Designer outlet for £80…yes £80! Hell of a deal and man what a shoe. Worn it for marathon, half marathon and 5km pbs…it’s nuts 😂👍🏃🏻♂️
I really consider getting them. but my mom definatly would say "no" but I dont blame her! I agree, now as a kid or a "teen" i suppose Im not on the "elite" level of getting a shoe for fun or something. but i absolutly love to hear, look at, touch and smell the shoe at stores. its really enjoyable😅😅😉😉
I just got them at half price, $200 CAD, even cheaper than superblast, which is the shoes I set out to buy. I have the original prime x without the strung upper, run over 500 miles in them, now they ain’t as bouncy as before. I was looking for last generation, strung 1, much lighter, but my size is sold out. O well, I will try them for some long runs this weekend.
I have v2 strung and 3 pairs of v1 (strung an no strung) and agree that v1 is fantastic for running in marathon pace and faster. The v2 are much better for slower (than half marathon pace) long runs being much more stable than the v1. For me it is the perfect v1 partner. I use Hoka Bondi X for even slower long runs! So this fills a hole for me - I can run both at marathon pace and slower wheras the v1 is terrible at paces slower than marathon pace.
Finally sent my last Adidas adios shoe on it's way to greener pastures..can't see another coming my way until they fix the upper and midsole..they do have great quality and durability but don't work for me..the older I get the more fussy about my shoes I get..😊
This shoe ended up causing me a good deal of Achilles pain, and it was severe enough to hang around for several weeks. Never had that issue in any other shoe, including the V1 of this. And I've run in over 100 different pair of shoes
Hi Edd, the weight always put me off this shoe and diverted to the Superblast, i’m sure other runners are similar thus the short supply. i’m interested in the hat - origin please? Would match some kit perfectly 👌😎
I've been really keen to try this shoes but until now have been put off by their £250 price tag. I love my Superblasts and felt £190 was probably enough for a pair of everyday trainers. I also have a pair of Boston 12's which I like but would prefer a bit more 'bounce'. I'm a heavier runner (15 stone and 6'2) and definitely not fast... never faster than 5 minute km's. I've been thinking my weight might work well with the PXS2's. I've been waiting for some good discounts to appear on these shoes before I rolled the dice. This morning I woke up to a crazy deal on one of the big online retailers and managed to bad a pair for £130. So here's my question- at this price does it make it more of a contender vs the other high stack shoes between £130 and £200? I ask as many of the reviews Ive seen have been negative partly because of the hefty price tag... I'd love to have seen reviews of this show had it been for sale from the off at under £200. (I'm not so bothered about the heavier weight).
Ed - after wearing the one….i just don’t see a need for anything over a 40 stack….just becomes to unstable and bulky. Just me a good foam verses more of it!
Was tempted to buy these but all the Adidas racers seem to cause massive blisters so may have to opt for asics or puma even though they feel less snappy
I think you're off on this shoe. it's pretty awesome, I just wish it would be rockered like the cielo x1. The biggest problem is that it isnt neutral but it is off camber, pushing to pronate.
@@EDDBUD saying i can maintain that pace i don't know how long for and I'm still struggling to find a use for this shoe, meant to be for those long runs/marathon training but I'm not sure yet.
Had to return my prime x strung 2 because the toe box was too narrow and really rubbed me It might be better at a half size or full size up In my one outing in the prime x strung 2 I agree with you really The prime x strung 1 is way better and fun. Only positive of the 2 is it’s more stable so you can use it in places I’d be too scared to use the 1 I Think they should have just made a slightly more stable prime x strung 1 instead of a completely new shoe.
