Grant, if there was an award for the best tennis video of the year, this one would definitely be on the shortlist. I'm writing this while still on the tennis court. Just completely changed my forehand within half an hour of training with the ball machine. Revolutionary compared to before.
Awesome video Grant! The way I see Alcaraz's forehand is it is a modification/evolution of Federers forehand where he use a higher elbow and slightly more distance to create more racket head speed and spin. Feds forehand effectively created the lagged or whip like forehand and Alcaraz has taken that technique and modified it to create the heaviest and most fearsome forehand on tour. But Fed will always have the best forehand for me as it is so versatile and he can do absolutely anything with it. Keep up the great content Grant👍
This is the best forehand video I have ever seen. Your channel is incredible, I recently discover you with the Djokovic backhand video and it was amazing too. Best vibes for you man, new suscriber here
These videos are great. I have a heavy spin semi western forehand (use an aero too) so you are obviously going to be talking my language. This one was very helpful both why and how I should be making changes.
Grant, this is your best FH video. TBH the others were not that helpful bc they were too complicated. Essentially, Alvarez used gravity better than Rafa & Djoke. He begins the motion letting my the racquet fall of its own weight and then directs nudges the falling pendulum forward and out. He's using his racket like a weight.
Alcaraz is just using Fed's flat forehand for everything. That high elbow horizontal swing path is Fed's flat shot. The takeback and unit turn are also the same. The difference is that Fed uses an Eastern grip and has his weight leaning forward while Alcaraz has a semi-western and his weight is neutral or slightly back. Fed is his idol and Carlos has learn a lot from studying Fed. As has most ATP players. I use this with a full-western grip and my flat forehand resembles Alcaraz but I didn't do this intentionally. I copied Fed and got more close to Alcaraz from my grip.
I think Grant is awesome...esp with his forehand lessons...too bad he does not seem to have 1HBH material.. Would be perfect if he did haha... So basically Carlos's forehand = Fed's flat forehand??? I am trying to learn flat, but always seem to do windshield wiper naturally now with muscle memory... though I see carlos still doing windshield wiper motion, just with a tonne of pace on his topspin forehand vs others.
Except he is using the next gen forehand and has alot of top spin on his shots. So no it's not a fed forehand lol. Can fanboy Federer all you want but lots of vid analysis show the similarities between modern forehands and how this is not a modern forehand.
Old school method. Makes more power. They had to do it back in the day with the heavier racquets . Gonzales probably had the most momentum in his racquet drop and arguably the biggest FH of all time.
Good job on analysis, you've come a good ways from the days of you teaching the pivot stance... Just saying you should go back and update that as a flawed technique as you learned better ones such as in this video.
You make amazing videos, thank you. There's a new style two handed backhand that Coric, Rune and Alcaraz all hit; can you do an analysis or how to hit that style. Looks to be a huge shoulder turn, point the blade to the incoming ball and they are very powerful. It's like a Next Gen Two Handed Backhand:)

This is just speculation. How do you know Alcaraz uses his lat dorsi muscles more than other top guys do? How did you verify that? By the way you keep using the word anatomy but that movement of the arm down and forward is not extension but rather flexion of the arm at shoulder joint.
Could not get sound. However I did understand what you were saying. I will implement when I get back on the court. Also his legs exploded into the shot which was amazing. Thanks
@@vincentflores9929 he just inverted the video of nadal to compare, u can tell with the reverse text on nadal videos whereas alcaraz is like ANZ at the back of the court
I agree that tennis is a very “geometrical” game. But, please come down to your senses. Winning in tennis has nothing to do with whether your elbow is a bit higher or a bit lower. This is bullshit.
Love it Grant just bought the Forehand course. Thank u !!!
jajaja me too. I love it that it teach you a world class forehand from now a days
How is the content?
I didn't know Barney Stinson was tennis teacher. Love it.

amazing lesson! love it and will have my son learn from this. thank you soooo much...
GVH, well done and it's blonde on blonde for the FTS, accelerated learning with recording and review, thanks.
The best video ever! Thank you!

ลูกชาย 7 ขวบ ชอบดูรายการของคุณมากเลยครับ เขาเอาไปใช้ในการฝึกซ้อมได้ดี ขอบคุณมากครับ Grant
What I see. Simple explanation of that even clear for me.
Thanks for the video! Do you have any suggestions on how to consistently get the proper distance from the body to the ball?
Thanks Grant you explain it very clearly to me.

LOVE hearing this !!! I appreciate it and wishing you MASSIVE growth on and off the court🏆🏆🏆
Great piece of information together with such an enthusiastic and positive mindset, thanks Grant!

Thank you!❤
Excellent video! Do you have videos of avg rec players hitting this forehand? If so, please post or direct me... THX!
When you bring the racquet down and away from the body, do you mean the racquet moves away from the body as it moves down? Very helpful video!

Exactly! Well said.
Nice step by step detailed analysis of the attacking or neutralizing forehand

@@tomk5238 Fed also hits with a lot of topspin, but this guy seems to have forgotten.
rafa is alcaraz’s idol

What stance is suitable for this forehand? semi-open or neutral stance
Having that’s elbow and arm behind you as a checkpoint forces the unit turn. Elbowing someone behind you almost. It appears to line you up more too.
Thanks
This video is freaking awesome! You explained it so well, can't wait to go out on the court tomorrow and try this out! Super underrated

Del Po may be the best ever at using this type of technique.
will I get Alcaraz FH after 2 days doing this? If not I am not going to try it. I have a job
He also has more muscles and his father is tennis coach...hard to replicate

Anyone can explain why he arches his wrist after hitting like after almost finishing the forehand is wrist Is like arched in a weird way

You are perfect as always.
Grant- How’s life?~perfect -farewell.
你发觉了他的秘密🎉🎉🎉
Kafelnikov was using the same technique decades ago on his forehand, nothing new.
❤❤
What I wanna know is how you made Nadale right handed 🤣
Stop trying to mimic one's forehand to not loose your time. Focus on the fundamentals and let your body find its own style.
No there’s a reason pros do things the way they do.
Barney stinson rocks
Yes, and GVDH has the same positive energy as Barney!
Nadal is left-handed. That snippet wasn't him.

Fernando Gonzalez did this since 1995
