I’m a big Somebody Feed Phil fan on Netflix where he travels the world exploring different countries’ culture and food. Your video content, filming, and editing are on par with that Netflix production. I definitely do not feel like I am watching a UA-cam vlog when I watch your videos.
🥰 that’s such a great compliment thank you
@@OrdinaryAdventures yes i was gonna say the videography is so professional like a travel documentary, it is so enjoyable to watch this in 4K.
@@solsson-di2ly I especially love the first video with no commentary just music. It draws you in because you have so many questions.
Our friends always put out the best content even when they are somewhere new! It makes us so proud 🥹
❤️ thanks you guys
Between all their great eye for filming, Kitra’s editing is really awesome.
💯👍👍👍👍👍
The overhead shots of the sky and the scenery are so picturesque 😍 you guys truly make the highest tier travel videos. My favorite is the clip at 14:38 - just the coolest 🎏✨🤍
Ahhh thanks 🙏
Peter is so talented with the itineraries for your trips. Truly TOP TIER!😜🙌🏾💕
Awww thanks
13:41 That's OK none of us knew the proper way to develop a Polaroid. We all thought shaking it was the way to go (little did we know). But hey now your pictures look vintage which is even cooler!
Totally
The faded look to the photos gives them such a nice nostalgia charm! Its like you visited way back when the budda was just built!
Good point!
Love these HK videos, its one of my favourite place to visit in the world. I even did a 3 night stopover there a few weeks ago, because I love the place so much. So much to explore and find.
We loved it there and would love to go back and spend some more time there
Finally got around to watching your HK vlog! I spied my apartment which was cool. Thank you so much guys for showing what an awesome place HK is, we love it here! Just a point to note if anyone reads this, a lot of the time if the toilet doesn't have a toilet roll holder in the stall, you will find it on the wall as you come in, you just grab some to take in with you (make sure you grab enough!). The Peak is one of the most desirable (and crazy expensive) places to live here, kinda like the same level of luxury as Beverley Hills. Can't wait to watch your Disneyland vlog :)
Thanks so much for the info
Sometimes when I watch your travel videos and I think, “that might be a nice place to visit.” Then I see the food and I’m like, let me check these flights real quick.
Haha
We love these non theme park vlogs!!! We definitely feel like we are traveling with you guys!
Glad you like them! Next up will be a bunch of theme park and hotel vlogs but then at the end of the series will have some Shanghai videos
@@OrdinaryAdventuresWe are definitely looking forward to seeing the theme parks too! Like we said though, you guys do an amazing job of showing unique places to visit that we feel no one really shows! Again, thanks for making us feel like we are there with you!
I never felt the need to visit Hong Kong until watching your videos. 😍
Happy to hear that! It’s an amazing place
13:51 it just gives your photos that 80s retro look 👍
Haha true
For my last meal in Hong Kong this weekend I went to Tim Ho Wan based on the recommendation in this video, so thank you for that. I had the delicious Fried Pork Bun too. If a Krispy Kreme glazed donut and a McRib had a baby, that's what those buns tasted like.
Soooo good!!
You guys are almost replicating my exact trip I only just did in January this year, just even better.
☺️
I found you guys when Covid hit. I’ve watched you consistently since then. Love you both! Love your content. But this series I’m feeling just how excited you are to be there and I love seeing all the sites and food. Thanks for sharing!! ❤️
Awesome! Thank you!
I tried frozen Durian fruit, so it wouldn't be as fragrant. It wasn't too bad, but the taste lingers all day. Funny thing a few weeks ago I visited my favorite Asian grocery store and I thought they had a natural gas leak. It wasn't gag worthy but it was very strong. I didn't know why no one else was reacting, walking around I spotted the huge fruit and realized it was the source of the smell
Oh no the taste lingers all day!? Now I’m scared to try it 😂
@@OrdinaryAdventures the taste wasn't too bad, but the smell is even more persistent
My stomach was in my throat the whole gondola ride .. 😂😂 love how you’re automatically in the gift shop .. just like at Disney
Haha it’s so funny
Peter’s face when that van drove by! 😂😂😂 Awesome vid you two, can’t wait for the next one! 🙌🏼
Haha a little too close
The joy I felt when you actually went to Bubba Gump!! Seriously though, thank you for all of these, they are SO wonderful and it feels as if we are there with you!
Haha
Genuinely laughed out loud at Kitra's "playing it cool" face 😂 I forgot to mention that Peters Bruce Lee pose was genuinely hilarious in the last video too.
You have good taste, Peter. Burger King is my number 1. Gosh, I really wish I had a double whopper with cheese.
Absolutely amazing locations again. Beautiful beautiful place. It's like a Disney Park on steroids!
Thanks David!
Love the quality and content of the videos for your international trips!!
Honestly, I also thought the little album of "bad" polaroid photos looked suuuper cute. But I'm glad you taught us how to use those cameras, because I for sure would have done the same thing you guys did, since that's what I did with my old Polaroid i-zone one lol
Yeah we also like how the photos turned out, feel vintage
You two are adorable and I truly appreciate your honesty, you show the good and the bad, and that’s why I trust your tips, tricks and advice, more than anyone on UA-cam!
Thank you so much!
Loving your international travel videos so much! Proud of y’all getting out there and seeing the world 🌎
Thanks so much!!
You two are so fun and sweet. Your international travels are so exciting! Thanks for sharing this once in a lifetime trip.
Our pleasure!
My parents were raised in Hong Kong so the city is always meaningful. Thank you so so so much for sharing your Hong Kong adventures.
Thanks for watching
We loved your Tokyo videos and it gave us the confidence to plan a trip there for next year. Now watching these videos, we really want to go to Hong Kong too! The food looks delicious and the travel looks so fun. Thank you for sharing all the info and showing us how to do it. Love your videos!
It’s an amazing place. We would like to go back and explore it more someday
Hong Kong is such a wonderful place and it's great to see you guys highlight its many charms! Hopefully more tourists will follow!
I hope so too!
Haha as me and my girlfriend watched this video I told her how I haven’t seen you guys give out an ordinary adventure galaxy in a while and she didn’t believe you guys did that, and at the same time as I was telling her, you guys gave one!
Haha amazing
These Hong Kong videos were amazing! So fascinating. Thank you for bringing us along. Can't wait for the Disney and Universal vids!!
🙌
Im going back in October for the 7th time , took my kids when they were little but they don’t remeber a whole lot , HK has just keeps giving and giving so much to do glad you loved it there its my home from home
Have fun!
for the egg bubble waffles, we locals usually take each "bubble" one by one and it is so easy to be shared with friends. We love it a lot. Hope you enjoy the trip in hk. :D
Good pro tip
Loving the Hong Kong videos… a great snapshot of a wonderful city
Thank you 🙏 we loved the city
Finally got around watching these and made me miss hong kong! I also did the nyong ping glass floor gondola and had the egg waffles - such a fun experience !!
We wanna go back so bad
Oh my gosh guys what a video!! I’ve watched you from the beginning and this is one of the best videos I’ve seen on all of UA-cam!! Peter you are so talented and Kitra I love you! You are so….normal. I mean that in the best way possible!! Love you guys!!
Thank you so much
@@OrdinaryAdventures love you guys
This series is seriously inspiring me to put Hong Kong on my bucket list!
Definitely add it
I read that the reason people shake polaroid pictures is because when they first came out it was a multi step process. The picture would eject. You waited for the chemical process for a minute and then peeled off the protective paper. Then you would wipe the picture with a chemical. It was stinky. So people would shake the picture to get it to dry faster. My father had a polaroid in the 70's. I remember peeling the pictures, but not applying the chemical, and shaking the pictures. So, over the years, people still shake the picture but unnecessarily.
Oh okay!!
@@OrdinaryAdventures Probably a decade or more later, I bought a Polaroid for my engagement party. I went around taking pictures of my guests. I kept the film box and put the pictures in it so I wouldn't lose the pictures or accidentally bend them. They made nice keepsakes for my guests.
Again, this series is getting better video by video! Can't wait to plan my trip with the help of y'all. Keep up the great work you two!
😁
Thanks for the great Hong Kong videos! We are headed to Macao and Hong Kong next week and I took notes on every place you visited. Much appreciated!
Have so much fun! Wish we could have made it to Macao
You guys gotta try roast duck. And eat around the bone. If you like crispy roast chicken skin, that's kind of how a good roast duck should taste like. However us Asians love texture so I can understand why the soft, sticky, gelatinous feel of some roasted duck can be an acquired taste. Peking duck might be the best way to learn to enjoy it. The skin on peking duck is usually the highlight.
May someday but you’ll have to convince kitra
When you guys commented about the durian was SOOOOOOOO funny. I laughed and laughed because my wife and my parents in law LOVE durians.
😂 I’m sure lots of people love em
@@OrdinaryAdventures believe me, they DO. they went on a durian trip to Malaysia.
The train 🚊 system in Hong Kong is so easy to use a lot easier than using the subway in nyc but Peter is like me who does all the planning when I go on trips too!
Totally agree
The tram up to the peak and the gondola look so awesome! Love to ride stuff like this.
Us too!
Seeing you eat the bubble waffles by biting down on the whole thing gave me the shivers!!! I always eat it by pulling one bubble out and biting it.
Also, I love durian! I started eating it when I was a kid! You can boil soup with durian pits!
Didn’t know there was a specific way to eat it
@@OrdinaryAdventures That's how I grew up eating it in China and HK as a kid!
They last longer if you pick them to eat them one by one! If I didn't want to get my hands dirty, I can use a toothpick or chopsticks to pick them up too
These vlogs are so unbelievably amazing. I am living vicariously through them. So relaxing .❤
Glad you like them!
Really love how you’re visiting these different cities in Asia and not just the theme parks! It helps give me an idea of what to expect when I go there one day (and I love the food recs!) Once you showed the photos from the mountain top I realized that my in-laws have the same shot from their visit there! 😂
Ha it’s probably one of the most popular tourists destinations there
5:10
Kitra thinking the worse and Peter talking her down. Classic 😂
😂
Thank you for this video, it brought back memories of the time that I went to HK. When I went, the gondolas weren't even built yet, so we took a bus to the top to see the Giant Buddha
I can’t imagine taking a bus up those hills
Love the video, I’m like Kitra soon as I start my vacation I miss my dogs. Peter your side hustle is planning Vacation trip. I would love just to just show up and enjoy
Haha it’s really a lot of work especially with these international trips
I`ve been fascinated with Hong Kong for years; even though I`ve never been, just from reading novels and non fiction works about it and seeing travelogues. You guys have shown such a comprehensive guide in the time that you`ve had there; really amazing; I`ve been a sub for quite a while and I think this is some of your best work! So enjoyable!
Awwww thank you so much. You are very kind
Hey Peter and kitra! I’m literally obsessed with your channel! I found your guys just over 3 years ago now I think and your videos are brilliant with such amazing tips but you do it in a way that is so wholesome and authentic! My twins turn 7 next month and my daughter just loves to watch your videos with me! Especially all the Disney and universal ones! UA-cam, social media and the internet can sometimes be a negative place but Peter and kitra your just a ball of pure joy! Your videos spread kindness, positivity and most of all fun and we all need more of that these days! Sending you so much love from Lauren and my daughter Emily all the way from Stirling, Scotland! 🫶🏼❤️🏴
And thank you guys so much for sharing your travels and experiences with us all! I’m always so excited when I see a new video pop up! I can’t wait for the next one! 🥰
Thank you so much Lauren. Say hi to Emily for us!
@@OrdinaryAdventures thanks so much for sending a wee reply! Emilys wee bum flew off her seat when I told her you guys replied to my comment and mentioned her name! 🥹 That’s made her day! And mine! We love you ordinary adventures! ❤️
The scenery is just absolutely amazing!
🙌
Continued thanks to you, Kitra and Peter, for sharing your adventures on Lantau Island. I don’t think the cable cars were built yet when my wife and I toured the large Buddha statue. It was a rainy day and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. I do remember that the monastery had the best vegetarian food my wife and I ever had…. Anywhere. Many blessings to you both
How did you get up there without the gondolas?
@@OrdinaryAdventures There was a road a tour guide drove up. I wouldn’t be surprised if its main use is for supplies now. The cable cars look like a blast to ride. Great views too
That gondola ride was crazy, but amazing. Cramazing.
Haha
Seriously my wife and I LOVE your channel. We watch these episodes in bed after a long day. Thanks for the consistent content that has something for everyone! Can’t wait for the next!
Thank you 🙏
Aww, the spontaneous camera present during bathroom break was so thoughtful and sweet! You guys are so cute together! ❤️ Also, 22:01 made me laugh so hard!
❤️
Hong Kong is amazing, so glad you’re enjoying the trip! Loving these vlogs btw 🙌
Thanks so much
Thanks for the great video! The Hong Kong Peak tram was built in 1888, which makes it built in the 1900's. The century is always referenced by the entire span using the following year. So the 19th century was the first day of 1800 through the last day of 1899. The 20th century was 1900 through 1999 and we are currently in the 21st century. I know- it's counterintuitive!
Yeah I think we were just saying it was over a century old.
I LOVE durian! To me, it doesn't smell horrible and it tastes nice - like a sweet custard. I kind of feel like it's similar to a cilantro situation 😆
Haha to us it smells horrible
Agree with this. I don't think it smells bad and it tastes like a rich and creamy custard. Because it is so creamy and sweet, if you freeze it, it's almost like eating ice cream!!
Hong Kong is so amazing!! Like East meet West!!! I can’t wait to go again!!!
Totally. We want to go again too
this is so interesting to watch! I've learned a lot about japan and korea, but this is a whole new world for me and you guys are doing such a good job of showing us around!!
Thanks so much
Kitra, do you still have your phone? Putting it in the side pocket of your bagpack is a pick pockets dream. I love that you always show everything you do, all the transportion, and plenty of tips. You guys are great travel vloggers.
We found Hong Kong and China to be very safe. We didn’t lose anything
OK the gondola sooo cool and sooo terrifying at the same time! What a great video such great adventures! Peter we are from Mass I didn’t realize you were from Boston! Keep these videos coming we are loving them!!! ❤ cannot wait to see Disneyland
Yeah I grew up mostly in a town called Natick
OMG I’m super craving dim sum and pork buns with sweet crust now! 😋🤤❤ Great video and SUCH a great adventure, definitely not ordinary! You guys are so awesome, your videos make me smile! We didn’t get to explore beyond Hong Kong Disneyland and the hotel resort area when we were there in 2018. Your video encouraged me to explore beyond next time we visit! ❤Arlene
🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟
I'm really enjoying your Hong Kong adventures. It has been so fun to follow along. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Next up Hong Kong Disneyland
@@OrdinaryAdventures Can't wait! 🎉
Totally agree the baked bbq pork bun was AMAZING! Enjoy all the amazing food!!
Oh and yes you have to bring your own tissues. Even at some restaurants we went to had no napkins.
I noticed that too
Just got home from a couple days at Disney and sat here and just thoroughly enjoyed the next video. Thank you so much again cannot wait for the rest.❤
Thanks 🙏
About the budist symbol, that the Natzis stole,
It is almost the same, what they did was just they tilted it to the side a little, if im not mistaken.
Also, i believe, at least that, that sign in japanese stand for the sun/temple. As a spot to connect with the light, higher power or ansestors.
👍 thanks for the additional info
Yep you’re right! What is actually cool about that symbol before they stole it, just about all cultures and ancient civilizations had this symbol all over the world but in different designs! Kinda tells us that there was some sort of worldwide communication back then. ☺️ so cool!
New subscriber here. Absolutely loved your vlog. I'm visiting Hong Kong soon, and this has made me so excited. I'm looking forward to following your future adventures
Yay welcome to the channel!
Just got to say, what great vlogs you 2 have put together!
Just started having a look at doing HK and HK Disney from the UK. Given us the confidence to have a go!
Yay you’ll have an amazing time!
Ok just had to say about your sponsor… anyone else happy to see the Flying the Nest family 😁 Hope Klook is paying them. Anyway loving the video and now I’m going to finish watching 🧡🖤🧡
I messaged them when we got the sponsorship and was like you’re finally going to be in one of our videos 😂 they are nice people
This is highly nostalgic for me, we lived in HK for several years in the late 90s and I went to school on the Peak! The real estate prices for properties on the Peak are out of the world, my Mum worked at a hospital up there there for some time and it was like a luxury hotel with fees to match. I didn't realise the Big Buddha was only built in 1993, I remember seeing it and also thinking it was ancient.
I have to say that I enjoy durian - though I have occasionally caught a whiff of it unsuspecting and thought "Good lord, what is that stench?" If you really want to try it, maybe start with a VERY tiny taste of something more friendly like a durian ice cream? The texture of durian is incredibly creamy, like a very rich creme brulee. The flavour is complex, I think it's got nutty and floral notes. If you think it smells like rotten garbage though, I'd say that your opinion will be similar to Andrew Zimmern's, save the space for something you'll enjoy like more Tim Ho Wan or bubble waffles! 😄
We might have to try Durian because now I’m so curious
Thankyou so much! Your incredibly thoughtful, well-research HK videos are really making me want to go there! So much fun to explore the city with you both :)
You should! Hong Kong is amazing!
@@OrdinaryAdventures definitely thinking this is what I will use my Delta miles for when I finally cash them next year or two! Thankyou so much, awesome content always and very beautifully edited!
6:02 Having flashbacks with the incident on the skyliner when people were stuck there for hours and had to utilize the “bathroom bags” LOL!
Oh no
SO COOL!! I am loving your adventure so far!!
😁
Glad to see you two have a great time in my hometown ❤❤❤ (I was born there but moved to Australia when I was 11)
So cool! Loved it there
Amazing! Loving this adventure, Hong Kong looks great.
It was!
welcome to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 hope you enjoy your trip ☺️
Thank you! 😃
What a great holiday- so much to see and what amazing food to eat
Yes it was!
I'm visiting Hong Kong right now, but doing it sort of in reverse of you guys. I started at Disneyland (also booked through Klook!), then did the cable car and Buddha (just like you I was the only chump opting for the glass floor!), then Kowloon, Ins Point and the peak tram. Today went to Macau (a must for your next HK trip and for theme park fans!) then tomorrow my plan is to try Dim Sum Square and some of the other food you suggested (I'm terrible at finding places for local dishes, so your last video will be a great help for that!). Also I am dying to know how you got that shot from outside the cable car, very clever!
Wish we had the time to go to Macau. But I think we’ll go back
What an Amazing Adventure your both having. I’m loving every minute of your videos. Keep them coming ❤
Thank you! Will do!
Love you Peter and Kitra! So glad to see you on so many adventures ❤❤
Thanks 😊
Watching this, I was empathizing with Kitra on the gondola, while my husband was in hysterics over Peter teasing her. It's like every vacation we go on... 😒
😂
I also am afraid of heights, Ketra you are so brave!!!!
❤️
The best way to try durian is in ice cream. When it's frozen it doesn't smell as much.
I like Durian! The candy does not smell I think. It’s like creamy citrusy slight chalk. Try Duran candy.
🤔 guess that’s how we’ll have to try it
@@krisb3576 chalk doesn't sound appetizing, but we have Necco wafers, Smarties, and other chalky candy here😅
You’ve outdone yourselves lately, super fun watch
🥰
So awesome! Looks like you guys had so much fun.
Yes we did
Thank you for sharing, I love Hong Kong too!
I think Hong Kong is much easier to look around for English speakers than my country, Japan.
Next time you go to Hong Kong, I recommend you to try Hong Kong style shrimp wonton noodles!
I agree on Hong Kong being easier but on the other hand mainland China was harder
Love watching your adventures. I didn’t think I wanted to go to Hong Kong but you are changing my mind. Cannot wait to see you at Disney there.
We loved it there. We definitely want to go back. Just need a good reason 🤔
Def adding Hong Kong to the bucket list after watching this 🫶🏼
🙌 we loved it there
Thanks OA! I'll be going to Japan in June and Klook will def help me! 😊
🙌
Love those funiculars really takes me back to my time in Switzerland! Can’t wait for more travel vlogs
Thanks
we all shook our polaroids back in the day, apparently no one knew the right way to use those lol. Makes total sense to keep them in the dark though. that Budha was huge. kudos for you both going up all those stairs I don't think I could do it. those bubble waffles look soo good. love the video. look forward to the Disney one.
It was worth climbing up the stairs
Kitra on the lift is me every time I’m on the Skyliner 😂 But these videos are making me want to go to Hong Kong! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing 😊
Haha
Love this video! Living vicariously through you! Thanks for all you do to show us amazing sights!
Thanks for watching Dawn
I love Ordinary Adventures. Thank you for what you do.
Our pleasure!
I used to not like durian when I was little, but now it is easily my favourite fruit.
👍
You guys should really visit Singapore. You would love it. There is a universal 😊 park.
We want to someday
After wall these months of watching, I had no idea Peter was a fellow Boston boy. Even happier to be a subscriber 😌
From a town called Natick
Hong Kong was never on my list, totally is now. Thanks guys!
I hope you get there someday
