@@Templarofsteel88 - If your explanation as to why many american reactors don't get the meaning of the song is just because they don't hear the "this is not a love song" part, then it's even worse than simply "going over their heads" because the whole song is full of clues from start to end. Heck, it didn't even have to have lyrics for any person with some level of intelligence to know what it's about! 😆

Hopefully you don't let those people influence your opinions on America because they are simply not smart or not knowledgable. As rammstein points out Dont believe everything you see from america, we are idiots. Not hating on my country im from US but our schools barely touch on important world history because they want us to be idiotic. Even i don't know much about history but half of the people under the age of 30 dont even know what the Cold War was.

As an American with German ancestry I look at this song the same as Deutschland the love hate relationship with history. No body is getting out of life completely clean. All you can hope for is the good out weighs the bad.

As an American, I absolutely jam this song. My interpretation is they are of course commenting on the global influence and how the American culture has permeated to most if not all countries. But I think the additional subtext is to poke fun at the blind patriotism that is very pervasive here. I've always felt you can have pride in your country without ignoring its shortcomings, and the US has many.
I think that you're right, but there is another aspect to it:
"Music comes from the White House"
and
"And who doesn't want to dance at the end
Doesn't know yet that he has to dance"
It's also in my opinion about how the US tries to force their ideology and interests on the rest of the world.
It's not a positive song. You have Coca Cola, wonderbra, Mickey Mouse AND sometimes war. That's the American thing all around the world.
The text does not speak of American culture. Translate the text more precisely and have it explained to you exactly what is meant.
Every country on earth has been a European colony at some point obviously all before WW2

This was a clear message of critcsm and sarcastic at that.Rammstein usually doesnt open/interretantious ways first of all. Also consider theirbackground! They are from Eastern Germany!!! Meaning way more opressing than the West.

We are living in Amerija (They spread the worst things Fast food, coca cola, war) in the countries. America is a continent, they are united stated, the message shows there are in the moon (Really?) we don´t know but they show the great country like octopus showing the most key points they want to show us. Behing this there are many thinks we don´t know like Foreign trade, FMI. The most impact lyrics for me "I don´t sing in my mothers tongue", Native people killed and American invation, new native people talking in english.

If you want to know how to play U.S. politicians take a look at Zelenskyy. He's done a great job of holding American and European leadership accountable to the rhetoric they use to communicate with their electorate. The Music might come from the White House but ultimately the power does come from the people that give them their position.. votes are in fact counted.
I want to draw your attention to the German band Feuerschwanz. Usually they make kinda Happy Metal. It's described as "medieval folk comedy". I especially want to recommend their interpretation of the song "Dragostea din tei" to you.

Most Americans think it’s about the exports to the whole world that influence the people, but if u take away only oil (just a fraction of that oil) Germany exports even more, so I think that was not the intention.
It's interesting but I don't blame them that they can't see it. Their culture permeates every other country in an unprecedented way. We watch their movies and TV shows, listen to their music, want to eat their fast food, etc. pp.

They wrote this song during the USA invasion on Iraq, and it is - just like you noticed - a critic over how USA is present everywhere, dictaring rules.
I think that basing this video on Moon landing had in purpose showing the doubt about reality (was the landing faked etc.) but also because winning the space race was one of the most significant signs of USA's superiority to the rest of the World.
Oh, one thing: "Deutschland" wasn't banned in Germany, it was "Ich Tu Dir Weh". As for Deutschland, there was a controversy when a trailer (showing only Rammstein members in death camp) was published - but it cleared out quickly when full video was released. Nevertheless, Rammstein is often misunderstood but they don't care, because they concentrate on performing art - wven if this is a literal porn video for "Pussy" 😃
As we are around the Iraq war: did you know, that Richard Kruspe also has his own band/project called "Emigrate"? In that time he created a very interesting song, "War". I strongly recommend it to you, since it has strong Rammstein vibes (I'm curious if you would guess from which Rammstein song!) and you can hear how talented Richard is 😁

That was the last time Rammstein was in America before they played the concert in Madison Square Garden.
Because after 2001/ 911 the mood in the USA developed so xenophobic that Flaake e.g. Just flew back to Germany alone and the band followed at some point because they didn't feel like the mood that had built up in the USA anymore.

I’d love to know if the “This is not a love song” lyric’s were a nod to the John Lydon (Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols) song he did with P.I.L (public image limited) called “This is not a love song” which was basically saying the same thing, how the world is supposed to dance to the USA’s tune.
