After watching so many of these types of documentaries, I've noticed that the authorities will spend more time and resources to recover money than catch killers. Not sure if I'm surprised.

After watching so many UA-cam comments, I've noticed that many of them are populist bullshit with zero footing in reality.
I can't even explain how dumb your comment sounds. You drew conclusions based on a few documentaries? And those documentaries were all "of these types"? And you don't realize you might be getting a biased picture? Also, it seems there are always enough gullible fools with confirmation bias that will back up any old made up bullshit.

Greed does many things, but so does fear of prison. People will rat themselves out thinking they will be getting less time. In 90% of all cases the criminal convicts himself. Even where the FBI has solid DNA evidence or fingerprints it doesn't mean anything unless the criminal gives an explanation of why it was there that doesn't wash with the facts. When many criminals point the figure at one of their peers, they don't seem to be aware that, whatever happened, they are also equally guilty because they were involved too.

The follow up, hiding the ill-gotten goods and converting it to wealth you can invest with, is the hardest and most important part of the heist. Any idiot can drive off route with a truck full of money and park in a concealed location. But if you can't spend it without getting caught, you haven't really gotten away with anything.
Also, the best heist, Chambers would've gotten someplace for Gant to park the truck, like a warehouse or an old barn, not a field near his work. Should've emptied it and dumped it in a river as many miles away as they could've gotten.

@joan baczek it's not inflation, it's taxes...the more you make, the more they take. Mafias use extortion against business to allow the business to work in an area/field...The Feds extort it's citizens via taxes, and not only the citizens but the businesses they work for as well. It's a scheme, it's disgusting and it's one of the big problems in America...because it doesn't just stop with the Feds, some States, and even cities also tax the money you make, on top of what the Feds are taking.

Its a crime but there is a motivation let the theft occur. One needs to live happy life and the job he/she has isn't that satisfactory. Imagine someone living in a mobile house. Its not good to be immoral to steal other people's money so that you can enjoy the life you desire. Its better to eat what your hand earns for you. There is something wrong with the upbringing of these people who committed the theft and the job providers. They thought they would escape with millions of dollars. Banks are disguised thieves. Money has to be circulated in a just way and shouldn't be in the hands of those who are experts at manipulation. If this case could have happened in Africa, I would have justified the theft provided that I was independent investigator because the money of Africa is stolen by the governments and elites in Africa. They don't want to hear this because there are no powerful independent people of Africa who can hold them accountable.

Who holds powerful people of wealth in the west accountable? Rich people only go to jail when they steal from other wealthy individuals. This is common knowledge. You said Banks are disguised thieves. But what punishment do they face? Do read, "Treasure Islands: Tax Havens and the Men Who Stole the World". Money everywhere is in the hands of those who are experts at manipulation. Anyone that has studied history carefully should understand in previous decades any African leader wanting a fairer, independent self sufficient continent and better individual African nations was removed. Shall I name some? How would the west or China for that matter react today if they can not have some sense of manipulation and control over Africa? They can't have accountability.

@@thepitpatrol You are missing the point. The vault supervisor should not be earning barely over minimum wage. Of course, he should be held accountable. But also, he was tricked and used by the accomplices who were going to off him. The lady who was setting him up to be killed got more money but less time than him. That's murder right? I don't know. But, I think Kira is right. If he had been paid what he was worth, there's a good chance he wouldn't have been tempted to do the crime.

Actually, I’ve read about this case. Steve Chambers was the mastermind behind it. Kelly’s job was mainly to be a go between and to lure Ghantt into it with promises of a happy ever after millionaire life. No worse than what Ghantt did to his own wife.
Kelly’s sentence was just under 6 years while David Ghantt’s sentence was 7-1/2 years. Not much difference. And Kelly was the only one who cooperated with authorities enabling them to put approximately 20 people behind bars.
