    Could you duplicate Oscillator A settings into Oscillator B, change the unison in B and then cross-fade between osc A and B to increase/decrease the unison effect - using a macro or an LFO?

    Don't the Serum effects count as post-processing?

    • @petertaylor9371
      @petertaylor9371 4 роки тому +1

      Not in this case. Post = after. So because all the effects are inside Serum it wouldn't be post processing in this case because he's trying to make the entire sound "within" Serum. I mean, you *could* think of Serum's onboard effects as post-processing the original waveform. Post-processing is a relative term.

    • @nitroanilinmusic
      @nitroanilinmusic 4 роки тому

      @@petertaylor9371 Yeah I get the general idea.. it's just that the whole schtick of Serum effects is bundling post-processing in the synth, just with the added benefits of being able to modulate parameters with the same modulation as the source.

    Also, honest question: what makes this analog? Is it the detuning? I never quite understood what people mean by "analog" sounding patches.

    • @absxnt8795
      @absxnt8795 4 роки тому +3

      It's generally used to describe sounds that are made to be imperfect intentionally to give character. Yes I'd say a lot of that comes from the intentional detuning

    • @prodplanes
      @prodplanes 4 роки тому +1

      An analog synth in music production is a synth that isn’t digital, rather it’s a physical synth. This tutorial isn’t analog, its inherently digital because he’s using serum. its made to represent an analog synth

    • @nitroanilinmusic
      @nitroanilinmusic 4 роки тому

      @@prodplanes This doesn't say much about how an analog synth should sound. I like Oversampled's videos, but in this one it's difficult to know which tweaks are for "analogness" and which are just for generally sounding good.
      I'm aware that people love analog synths, given half of the available softsynths are emulations or approximations of analog counterparts, but throughout all these years I've never quite understood what do these analog synths have that your everyday digital one don't. I only know of the slight tuning imprecisions and apparently the basic waveforms themselves are approximations.

    • @michealva1539
      @michealva1539 4 роки тому +1

      NitroAnilin Music It’s basically the fat and warm sound an analog device can produce. When reaching higher and lower octaves as well, it doesn’t sound too muddy or harsh in those regions. The filters are also what makes a good analog synth, with each filter being incredibly different from another counterpart, like an Oberheim to Roland. It’s also about the effects, which add character and are not just a really clean reverb or chorus. They also add the fat and warm texture to the produced sound. Among other factors, there are a lot of things that get that “analog” sound that is much easier to produce with a hardware synth rather than a digital one.
