Thank you! I just recently focused on viewing where on the fretboard I will place my finger in order to help me be accurate. Your explanation and demonstration are quite helpful. Also, I appreciate you advice on dynamics and interpretation of this piece. Very well done. You are an excellent teacher!
You are very welcome. I'm glad that my teaching methods are helpful, and all the best with this gem from Tarrega.
that advice with how to switch to the B7 really helped me alot, i was always struggling with it :D
Glad it helped!
Thank you Joshua .This is very useful for me and i enjoy this lesson.
Glad to hear that! I filmed it in a beautiful location not far from my home too
Thank you so much for these AWESOME tutorials!!!! Beautiful!
Russell Manguerra You're welcome Russell!
Thank you Joshua, some really great advice and technique tips, as a late beginner , it’s really helping with this beautiful study
My pleasure. All the best with the Etude!
This helped me out greatly. Transitioning from note to note was difficult for me in this song, and your video showed a better way for me to practice, thank you!
That's great Bre. Transitions are one of the most difficult things on guitar. I still work on transitions all the time.
It`s just nice to see & hear you back to doing what your best at Josh with all
due respect.
Thanks Locksley.
Fun, useful, beautiful and can't thank you enough. Great lesson. Thanks so much Josh
Awesome Ahmed. Happy to be of service buddy.
What a fun lesson Joshua. I love the idea of working with varying tones with the right hand on this study. It is also a beautiful melody (not just a study). Definitely worth learning. I am going to work on this. I'll look for this on the site. Thanks, John
Hi John. You're right. This is a fun lesson. Not too difficult but so beautiful. There's so much to be done with the right hand in this piece. Good to hear from you again too btw :)
Wonderful way to teach guitar. I like it so much. Very easy. THANKS!
Thank you, I'm happy that you like my teaching style. All the best with this endearing little piece.
Nice background this time around Josh. Love your videos, they re a great help.
Thank you, I love this location too. The tree I'm sitting on is an ancient Pohutukawa located about 50m from the sea on our tribal lands.
Tabs will be available soon! Don't forget to smash the like button and subscribe :)
a trick : watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Nikolai Gerardo definitely, been watching on flixzone} for months myself =)
Great explanation thank you for taking time, really helpful, I will keep watching and learning. 👍👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
It must be nice to be able to learn and play this peace after practice.
Yes, it's a beautiful piece - typical Tarrega!
Thank you Joshua for your clear explanation, i learn a lot today.
Thank you.
That's awesome to hear Bert. I'm glad you learned a lot yesterday!
A pretty piece and a very useful tutorial Josh.Your superior fingering over what I had previously seen gets me to bar 3 in time.
Great stuff!
+geoff fantastic. That change isn't easy. You can hear me delaying at that point too even with a guide finger.
Your fingering on the 11th fret is very helpful. I had a printout with different positions and I was always stumbling over myself. Thank you 🙏
All good J. D I'm happy to have helped you get over a stumbling block
Great way of showing how to play a song. Love th video
Thank you. I love filming there too. All the best!
I like very much. I'm a teacher myself and this helped a lot. Very good explanations of form 10/10
Nice to hear from a fellow teacher. I think explaining form can help many students especially if they realise that in some instances something is repeating. It can help them to visualise the piece in it's entirety rather than in fragments.
Hey mate. Glad I've found your channel. I think you have inspired me to pick up my guitar again. Cheers 👍
+Clint Halliday awesome to hear that mate. Rock on.
Thank you so much for sharing this, I'm indebted to you and I'm going to be heading over to your website to check it out. I can't believe I've only just stumbled across your channel. Thank you, thank you for your time, your teaching style is just what I need, fantastic teacher.
Whoah super nice comment you've written here Predo. All the best with your playing.
Ditto.... couldn't have put it better myself.... so, I didn't 👌
Excellent lesson, Joshua!👏
Thanks John - I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You are a master!
I am still a student Eldar. There are so many amazing players that are true masters like Andrea De Vitis, Xuefei Yang, Moran Wasser, oh the list just goes on and on. I merely share my basic skills with those that struggle with music and/or tab reading.
Thanks for your lesson Joshua !
My pleasure Phong :)
So good. Thank you.
Thanks Bryan. I hope it helps
The scenery behind is awesome. It seems like you are playing guitar in heaven
Thank you. I'm sitting on one of our ancient Pohutukawa trees on our tribal land. About 50 metres away is the sea :)
Wow...you’ve improved my playing so rapidly, I can’t even describe it. All I was doing were boring pentatonic blues lead...saw you, bought a classical, started finger picking, and,.....Thank you
That's awesome Matthew! Welcome to the ranks buddy :)
Probably the best single lesson for guitar I have ever had, and I have a great instructor. Excellent. Who are you and I'm sorry you aren't better known.
Hi Scott! Wow this is quite the comment. I am Josh and I thank you for your very flattering words.

Ivá that's really great feedback. This piece has so much beauty and it is a great little study. I'm happy to hear that my video helped you out.
Your videos are helping a lot. Specially beginners in sightreading like me.
Awesome. I know how difficult it can be at the start. When I was learning I always wished I could hear some of the pieces I was learning or perhaps watch someone play it through. Welcome to the brilliance that is UA-cam!
Very nice, good studied
Thank you Navid :)

Hello I love your videos man I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to play Chopin Nocturne No. 20 its on of my favorite classical pieces and I'm dying to learn how to play it I'm not the best chart/note reader and your videos really do help out a bunch!!!
mojo Thanks a lot man. I think I can do that but I'm super busy. I've got a bunch of other pieces that I have to attend to first. Great suggestion.
Thank you for responding! No problem man take your time I'll see it appear on your channel one day. And in the mean time you've made more than enough content for me to learn haha. Keep it up man :)
Nice place to play!!
For sure Elisabeth. I'll be back there in a few months and I can't wait!
The sound is so good!
Please let me know which is Brand and the model!
Thank you for your help!
This is a Takamine TH5C
Beautiful piece! Love his guitar, what make/model is that?
Thanks Jody. It's a Takamine TH5C Hirade.
Tuyệt vời quá, thầy cho em hỏi cây đàn của thầy takamine model mã gì vậy, thanks
This is Fernando Sor's Op. 6, No. 11. Good video, regardless. Cheers!
Thanks for the info Josh!
Very nice video! thanks a lot!
where are you come from?
Thank you. I'm from New Zealand.
Top Thank you!!!!! you can Make Prelúdio in Em Chopin, is very Beautiful!!!!!!! Please my friend! Big Hugs
Quite possibly although I'm quite snowed under with other stuff at the moment.
Ok my friend, thank you so much for everything !! Big Husg From Brazil
Thanks, good for beginners. Are you based in NZ?
My pleasure. I'm based in NZ when I'm not touring. I'm in Africa on tour at the moment. Interestingly I flew out to Africa not long after I filmed this video.
Nice lessons but can i ask you what brand string do you used
Thanks Suwandi. In this video I was using Augustine High Tension strings. The link to the strings is in the description :)
Plz teach us how to play chopin prelude in e minor on guitar!!'
I may be able to. I'm super busy right now but I'll look into it.
joshua rogers thx man!!
The barre chord right near the beginning is killing me for some reason. Any tips for the barre chords or will it come with more practice?
Hi Kyle. I have a video with several tips for doing barre chords - check it out.
@@nbnguitar Awesome, I will check it out, thank you sir!
کاش به زبان فارسی هم ترجمه داشت 😊
Tnx love you ❤️
Love you too
I like this study, but where is the focus on "E minor"? Hope this is not a dumb question.
Thanks. There's no focus on E minor. That just happens to be the key that it was written in.
Ahh, thanks!. I see the different progressions in the E minor scale now.
I've played this wrong for almost 3 decades!
DreamWizard9 That happens to me too!
I cannot, for the life of me, make the B7 work. I just cant seem to do bar chords :(
Try watching my video on playing bar chords like a boss Jaket.
why are the strings so floppy and loose??
I think that's just how they appear depending on the frame rate setting of my camera (or any camera for that matter). They're tuned to standard A@440
Bet you catch a lot of girls being so handsome, charming and talented.👍
You're too kind Dan. Fortunately I caught my lovely wife with my humour and ability to dive for seafood!
Cool lesson, gotta like bros who wear beanies
+Chad Marks haha indeed. I'm bald and it was mid-winter in New Zealand when I filmed this. Beanies save!
Big strong mma looking dude teaches us sweet classical guitar
Haha cheers Vaibhav. Pumping Iron and Pumping Nylon :)
@@nbnguitar pumping iron and trying to learn gran vals at 12 am xD
@@nbnguitar i need that strength for the bar chords lmao
9:49 Not so hard for me, i can't play it with my short fingers...;-)
Have you tried using a short-scale guitar?
@@nbnguitar Hello Joshua.
Yes, but i dont like the short scale, 3/4 size. Need more string spacing...
I have made a mistacke in this piece. Used the second fret insted the third. ;-)
Now, it works, but thos stretch is the maximum with my small hands. I play the Cavaqo a few years, and i am fine with finger stretches. But sometimes really special on guitar. But i play it since 3 month or so, it needs time and training.
Thanks for your response, Joshua.
why such a hat?
Because I'm bald. It was winter so the hat keeps my head nice & warm, and I didn't want to wear a bulky jacket while teaching.
