    As a PGA Member and a competitive tournament player over the years have worked with some of the higher-ranked teachers in the USA. Have learned rankings mean nothing without results. Not one of them addressed in my swing what you guys have taught me. It is as if you can see my action and are addressing it personally. So in not being able to find a teacher who knows his stuff, I have had to fix my own swing. What I have learned from you guys has helped immensely and has kept my desire to learn and play well alive. Thank you.

    Love the drills .I am somewhere in between the flipper and the shaft leaner (technically still a flipper i guess)...my hands are constantly even with the ball at impact ...not ahead or behind. I could not figure out how to get my hands infront with out manipulating my hands which slowed my swing speed or made contact worse. The best drills make everything happen without having to focus on that end result you are looking for. Thank you !

    Hey boys How about the flip because of being way dumped under the plane. Is that a pressure shift problem as well??

  • @rockenfuss1
    @rockenfuss1 Рік тому

    I have looked over most of your combined instructional videos. Assuming everything has been correctly accomplished leading into impact, what causes the right hand to cross over the left post-impact (obvious in the motion of tour players) so that the right wrist has moved from extension at the top of the backswing to flexion at the finish of the downswing? Does this "cross over" release of the hands and wrists just happen as a product of having done everything correctly with the hands and arms dropping and moving across the chest with a closed upper body combined with upper body rotation? I am a basketball shooting coach. I see the same extension to flexion happening with the shooting hand in the release motion. In shooting the basketball, the upward, lifting motion of the shooting hand and arm toward the basket causes the arm to straighten and the hand then moves to a "hand in the cookie jar" flexion position. There really seems to be a similarity of such motion across several sports!

    Curious how you tackle the guy who throws the club from the top? IMO proper pivot doesn't always produce better impact positions. I've tried. I can get him to great better impact alignments going 9-3 swings but from the top it seems to be an impossible change, which I don't like saying. I've been working with this guy long enough to make this change, but can't get the feel across to him. BTW my teaching has certainly improved because of your content. Thank you.

    Great drills. I played 18 holes, using the third tip here. I discovered this drill by accident last year, trying to get away from my open face. Closed my face at address with irons. Made me come through much better. My subconscious knew what to do. Never hit my irons better. Every one of my approach shots were at the pins. Much more solid than usual. Wondered how this could work, but it did. I have a long-standing tendency to hit my irons weak, open clubface, and would need to flip through impact, usually hit weak and short. This drill made me hit solid! Showed me what was possible. Now to do this every week!

    Hey guys, the part where you talk about the amateurs having their left arm tight across the chest, and not letting go of that angle, do you think that is directly tied to lack of body rotation in the backswing > bending the right arm and also the left arm in order to get more (fake) depth/length in the swing > arms almost wrap around your torso hence left arm tight across the chest > not enough time to lose that angle in the downswing > flippy wrists?

    For the dropping the hands drill, does that mean my downswing should start with my arms though? How can I initiate the downswing with my body (hips?) and drop arms, while saving my shoulder rotation for impact? I've almost eliminated my flip but my left elbow really struggles to not bend behind me.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому +1

      The goal is to get the hands/arms back in front before impact. For so many guys who struggle to do that, yes they'll often feel that their arms go first in the sequence. But here's the thing... that sequence happens in a about 1/2 the time it takes you to blink, and you won't be dropping the arms without the other parts supporting that... meaning the hips will move. This idea of a deliberate sequence of hips, then torso, then arms has caused a ton of problems for golfers. Practically speaking, they move at very much the same time. Minutely speaking, there is a slight difference.

    I love the content and your teaching style, but I am slightly confused. I watched your recent shaft lean video where you talk about contact happening on the trail side of the body. You say the golfer should not wipe the arms across the body. In this video, you talk about the Justin Rose drill and bringing the club more in front of the body. Wouldn’t this contradict the thought about not wiping the arms across the body or am I totally inferring wrong? Anyways, as someone who is struggling to get shaft lean and my arms in the correct delivery position, I want to make sure I am understanding this right.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  10 місяців тому

      Good question! I think the easiest way to think about or picture where things need to be is by using YOUR body as the reference rather than the camera. As far as shaft lean goes, have your hands in front of your right side (if your right-handed). That’s where impact should occur. Now add in some turn, shift, and tilt but all while keeping your hands on the right side of your center line. Do that in fro t of a mirror or camera and you’ll see shaft lean 👊😉

      @@rblessons Most of the time they will. Keep in mind, the ball is gone so what you're doing post impact is safely slowing the club. How would you explain the vast majority of modern coaches disagree that toe up at left arm parallel is neutral. Neutrality to swing plane is what most coaches agree to which would mean face would be roughly on your spine angle at left arm parallel. Otherwise everything in the video was dead on and very helpful but I was super surprised of your opinion on club face neutrality please let me know your thought process

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  4 роки тому

      To get the face parallel to the ground, it's a little less than toe up. That comes from having gotten to work with and measure the club movements of some of the most accurate ball-strikers in the past 25 years. Prior to that, we had the same opinion as everyone as most others as you mentioned.
      A few points that went into the process... the spine angle is arbitrary and has zero effect on the face angle. The spine angle and plane are not perpendicular to each other. The clubface rotates open for everyone about 150-180 degrees. We see way more golfers keep the face overly shut for too long only to have an issue with the face being overly open coming down. A lot of that caused by the issues that created with the right side of the body from being too closed for too long.

      I guess it would depend on the window of shaft lean being considered. Do you have a range in mind?

      Athletic Motion Golf well my swing speed is around low 90”s with driver. I would say I have about 3 degrees of shaft lean.

      @@BamaPaul 3 isn't much, but how that 3 is created is important along with where the hands are at impact. Adding loft to the hit can be just as negative for distance.

      Athletic Motion Golf I don’t add loft my hands are over my left thigh about 2 inches at impact. If you know what I mean. I do release out a little early my hands are just outside my right thigh at p6 position. But I don’t hit a high ball .

    I like what you guys are saying, but it’s difficult to follow when you deviate by interjecting stories. It would be easier to follow if you stopped saying what golfers do wrong. Just keep on point and say/show the correct way. Thank you.
