Rob, the “delay” in the R32 ATTESA versus the R33/R34 isn’t caused by the pump or power unit. The R33/R34 added an additional solenoid to the system as a failsafe that allows about 5% system pressure to flow to the transfer clutches at all times. This means the base pressure is 5% instead of 0%. It’s so that if the system fails it won’t suddenly snap to RWD. This has the side effect of greatly reducing actuation time since it also “preloads” the clutch springs. It takes about as long to go from 0% to 5% as it does to go from 5% to 100%. Your pressure loss and constantly having to run the pump appears to be miswiring, incorrect hydraulic routing, or both. There is supposed to be a pressure switch on the power unit that measures pressure from the accumulator (that nitrogen canister), and shuts it off once it has pressure. This accumulated pressure is what runs ATTESA. The pump isn’t supposed to run again until pressure drops under 270 or so, which shouldn’t happen very much while the car is running since the nitrogen canister is maintaining that initial pressurization. The solenoid on the power unit is what’s diverting the accumulated pressure between the accumulator and the transfer clutches. Best of luck with this, it’s been an exciting project to watch!

I think that you should double-check your the fluid. The fluid that was in it when you took it apart with distinctly red. The red fluid is indicative of automatic transmission fluid that is used in some cars as power steering fluid. The fluid that you put in is brown which is standardized power steering fluid there is the difference between viscosity and weight but should still have relatively the same pressure rating but can very much affected the longevity and the life of the pump. This might be some of the additional noise that you're hearing from the pump.
with all the electronics your putting in to the system I would recommend having a second battery even if it's a half size one to back up all the draw the car is going to see when it's idle or a automatic charging system to keep it topped up .
I am so bloody excited to see this car tearing it up on the track and/or street. I am also very curious and excited to see how you are gonna do the flooring with how that car is setup
I don't know if someone asked you this before so here I go. Has the front diff the same ratio as the rear one? If not then the front wheels will spin faster or slower then your rear wheels when the 4 wheel drive system is in full lock. Because the front and rear drive shaft spin with the same RPM. In case they the diff's don't have the same ratio it will cost you lots of tyres in the best case scenario. Don't want to think about the worst case. On a personal note. I'm loving these video's you post. You and your friends are doing a great job and I cannot wait till the car is finished
When you are explaining stuff, I have no clue what you talking about at all, almost like I'm numb, I feel dumb lol but I love what's happening, been waiting for the AWD RX7 for a long time.
Yeah I feel like the videos quality is degrading a little bit. I don't really care because what he is doing with the car is fucking awesome. Like the part where he's talking about the solenoid being well lubricated you can tell he didn't cut the clip correctly.
Im SO excited to hear this car sing at 10k rpm doing AWD burnouts. Can we fast forward to that day please? I do appriciate all of the unique stuff going into this monster, I just want to see the final piece.
Are the distances the front and rear tires travel per revolution identical. With tire diameter and gear ratios in the diffs to consider, this is critical.

This build is just as cool as the dude with 2 VR6 motors. He has FWD ,RWD and AWD .
Now we can see in real time the power loss from rwd to awd on a dyno! This will be epic.
Would be interesting to see how much power is lost when using the awd vs rwd
Probably quite a bit of parasitic loss, but when you're talking about 1500-2000 hp you probably won't even notice.
A lot, for 50-50 AWD. It won’t be like that outside of launches, most likely. Considering your 1-1 gear in 4th, he may be 100% RWD on a dyno
@@josephjennings5945 I mean loosing power on launches isn't that bad because you're gonna be grip limited not power limited
NoNoNoNii No I’m not. Sequential gearboxes are weird. Drifting setups sometimes don’t have an overdrive at all. Just going off the majority.
Anon For sure. I was speaking purely from a power and dyno perspective. Frankly, I’m not certain how usable 2000hp is regardless of drivetrain config.
