Im invested in PYPL, MELI and HSY.
PYPL will have a margin expansion alongside double-digit revenue growth, empowered by the authorization to repurchase 17% of its outstanding shares. Neither AMZN nor APPL pose significant competition; in fact, Apple collaborates with PYPL to enhance paypal payment systems for Apple users.
PYPL diverged from AMZN due to margin erosion.
MELI offers potential for a currency and growth play, presenting an opportunity for future compounding outside the USA.
All three exhibit promising long-term potential, boasting over 30% undervaluation and anticipated double-digit value creation for the next 5+ years.

I'm sure the idea of an investment-Adviser might sound controversial to a few, but a new study by Motley-fool found out that demand for Financial-Advisers sky-rocketed by over 42% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounter I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch. Purchasing a stock may seem straightforward, but selecting the correct stock without a proven strategy can be exceedingly challenging. I've been working on expanding my $210K portfolio for a while, and my primary obstacle is the lack of clear entry and exit strategies. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Very true, you can be passively involved in the markts and still amass wealth-gains using an investment advisor. I first dabbled in stocks late 2019, just before the pandemic, and that same year gained over 150% with no prior investing experience, basically all I was doing was following directions of my advisor. I do feel MercadoLibre executes better than Amazon on some aspects, for example they deeply incentivize sellers to interact with buyers or would-be-buyers by answering questions or provide follow up on deliveries if the seller chooses to send the product themselves.
That being said MercadolIbre remains an smaller version of Amazon with a fintech business layered on top. They even pay Amazon because they are AWS's users.

MELI doesn’t have AMZN’s size or reach, but its core business is ecommerce, it’s also multifaceted, look up Mercado Pago, its payment business, it’s getting into advertising. Yes, nowhere near the size of AMZN, but the similarities warrant the comparison. I think you should dive deeper into the stock and you’ll find it fits your criteria more than you think.

Yeah MELI is still deep into it's growth phase as the LATAM market is still nascent in the fintech space. They're pulling people out of cash and into digital. They're also the biggest shop for online retail in the entire region. They will be extremely hard to displace over the long term as we can see their revenue rapidly expanding with their founder still around. MELI to me looks like a much better buy than Amazon at this point.

Another great video! I cover Hershey on my food and restaurants stocks UA-cam channel and agree that it is unlikely that cocoa prices stay at all-time-highs forever! However, if we think that Hershey's margins are getting crushed by higher input costs, newer entrants like Feastables with less infrastructure likely have worse supplier deals + less cocoa already stockpiled and are feeling the pain more. Also Feastables is nearly twice the price per ounce for consumers! If anything the rising cocoa prices are helping Hershey gain market share! Just my $0.02!

One more argument for MELI would be that it is an emerging markets pick. So you are investing outside of the US and will be less dependent US economy, which for nearly everyone makes up the main part of the portfolio. Being smaller can also be an argument in favor, because it has more growth potential. I personally have bought the dip at $1480 and got my first shares at around $1200. It makes up 4% of my portfolio while I have the real Amazon at 9%.

In order to invest in commodities, you need to understand the cycles: the usual goofy hoping for perpetual growth and perpetual multiple expansion is dangerous there.
A copper miner with low production costs and a clean balance sheet, bought when copper prices are low (not near the peak of their distribution like today) is an easy 5-10 bagger.

    • @mathewwilson9776
      @mathewwilson9776 2 місяці тому +2

You need mines in quality jurisdictions, long life of mines and a clean balance sheet to avoid bankruptcy in case copper prices stay subdued for a long time (so no cashflows).
Copper prices cannot fall in perpetuity, since high cost producers will halt production and reduce supply.
Demand will be there as long as humans continue to electrify everything.
If the production cost of a miner is $3 per pound and copper prices drop from $4 to $3.1, analysts will project 0 profits using their their infinite myopia and the stock price will collapse. But when copper prices rebound back to $4 (which they must, since demand is there and high cost producers will remain offline otherwise), then that's a 10x in profits, so the stock price will follow suit. Same drill in every recession: copper prices tend to bottom around the 75th percentile of the AISC distribution.
That is investing. Buying a copper miner today is gambling.

Another part of the crumbling globalization is going to be the fact that more and more protectionist policies are going to enter the playground over the years, so any MCD restaurants in markets that are leaning towards hostility against the US may begin to outright nationalize MCD property.

"I don't see many companies with growing fundamentals whose stock price drops too much".
Maybe that's because you only look at periods of market exuberance.
In the 2000s, many companies did well fundamentally and saw their stock prces go nowhere. Microsoft for instance. Same in the 1970s. Very likely, same over the next decade, with the sp500 trading at 27x CY2023 earnings ($194 according to the latest S&P Global estimates).
When multiples are idiotik, there isn't much the fundamentals can do.
PayPal is fairly priced at best today (assuming persistent 7-10% growth), sustained 14% margins and sustained outsized buybacks: how high it traded in 2021 is irrelevant.
Disney is only fairly priced today if margins can get back to pre-2019 levels (big IF): the fact that it traded at $200 is irrelevant.

@@SavannahL5214 Meli can be great no doubt. But it's not Amazon or comparable to Amazon. Growing their low margin retail business quickly does not make them comparable to Amazon. MELI does not have 90%+ of fortune 500 companies using it's cloud hosting, no matter how big it grows it will never be able to accomplish that, that market is already gone and taken. That's why saying it's the Amazon of this or that is not accurate and is actually misleading to investors.

@@JosephCarlsonAfterHours Thanks for response. As others have said I think you may have taken Barron’s headline way too seriously because I agree, MELI is not the same as AMZN, different business models. They both have marketplaces and do some of their own delivery but MELI doesn’t have web services as part of their business (yet, who knows if they will later) and AMZN isn’t into fintech and credit like MELI is. MELI went public 10 years after AMZN and AMZN stock started really taking off about 18 years from IPO (around 2015), MELI started taking off about 9-10 years after it’s IPO (around 2016-2017). MELI is not AMZN is my and others in the comments point, they have some overlap but have generally different business models. AMZN has a 10 year jump on MELI so it”s impossible to say how they will perform in the future, but MELI is not some poor imitation of AMZN.
