- The Canon RF 85/2 was a pleasant surprise. It's an affordable lens that is lightweight and takes stellar images. So what if it doesn't have the red ring around the top of the lens. This lens is not one you're going to want to pass up on. It is within most people's budget and did I mention that it is also a macro lens? If you end up picking this lens up you are sure to be impressed.

Thanks for this review! I own this along with the Canon EOS R! I agree with everything you said. I drool over anticipating EITHER the Canon RF 85mm 1.2 OR the Canon RF 50mm 1.2...eventually....when I have more $$$. But for now, this lens (like my Canon EF 85mm 1.8) can take fantastic images! BTW - even though you don't consider yourself a macro shooter (I'm not either!), your macro shots on this were sublime :)!!

It will not unfortunately. For your camera you need either EF or EF-S lenses.

I will purchase this lens for an up and coming shoot. My only bitch is Canon acting like greedy arse-hats and not providing a lens hood for non 'L' lenses. The lens hoods and harder to come by the the lenses themselves.. haha
