    For the dentist question I get the Walter Brennan reference about the 79 cent teeth. Because Brennan was a doing a fight scene in a movie one time and somehow got kicked in the face by another actor and got his teeth knocked out and had to wear false teeth the rest of his life

    All of you people who were too young to drink during the '70s and '80s may enjoy learning about the many cocktails similar to the one the contestant mentioned. Just search for "Long, Slow, Comfortable Screw". There were many tasty variations with names to match. Back then, it was daring just to tell the bartender, "I want a ..."

      Yes, he's pretty good, but this was only his third match in the past 13 H/H questions, so it's a bit of stretch to say he was like no other.
      His cumulative track record (counting today) shows he's matched 41.8% of all his H/H questions. Brett has matched 42.0%, Fannie 48.3% and Charles 48.5%.
      I'm always amazed that Richard gets the most credit for matching despite being the least successful at it.

    H/H match update:
    ...
    ~~~Today's action:
    Fannie's "Gum" spelled victory number two for our champion.
    *Today's audience match question: "________Gin"*
    (My thoughts: Cotton, Sloe, ???)
    The celebs: Richard (Cotton), Brett (Sloe), Charles (Bootleg, but Bathtub got thrown out too)
    The choice: Sloe
    The answers: Dry, Cotton, Sloe
    Our champion gets a second chance at the big money. Last time she chose Richard, but they didn't match. In fact, Richard has matched 2 of his last 12 attempts (16.7%), so he's been on a rough streak lately. Still, the belief that he's the "best" at the head-to-head seems to prevail, so I imagine she'll choose him again, although there's an outside chance she might pick Brett this time...
    Yes, she chooses the regular with the poorest track record at matching in the H/H. On the bright side, he seems overdue for a match. Fingers crossed.
    This is now King Richard's 12th consecutive play, and he's been chosen 140 of the past 154 times. (Charles answered five of the remaining questions, Fannie took three, and Rosemary Forsyth, Nipsey Russell, Meg Bennett, Scoey Mitchell, Brett, and Trish Stewart got one each.)
    Stats: Richard has matched 82 of his 195 most recent attempts (42.1%), 65 of his last 152 attempts (42.8%), 45 of his last 102 attempts (44.1%), 21 of his last 55 attempts (38.2%), and 2 of his last 12 attempts (16.7%). His overall success rate is *41.7%* and this is his 673rd attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 68 attempts (48.5%), Fannie has matched 14 of her 29 attempts (48.3%), Brett has matched 29 of her 69 attempts (42.0%), Richard has matched 280 of his 672 attempts (41.7%), and Mary Ann has matched one of her five attempts (20%). Anson hasn't had a shot at a H/H question yet.
    *Today's H/H question: "Olivia________"*
    (Olivia Newton-John comes to mind, partly because Gene and Fannie talked about "Grease" at the opening of the show today. Although "Grease" hadn't yet been released, Newton-John had had a string of hit songs already. My alternate thought is Olivia de Havilland, and I believe Richard is more likely to think of her. I'll still go with the singer though.)
    Richard doesn't hesitate and looks fairly confident as he writes. He glances over at Fannie and mouths a few words as he files his answer.
    The champion goes with my alternate answer. I actually think it was the better answer, but I was being stubborn sticking with my first thought. The audience applauds, but not wildly. Gene asks what they would say, and they shout my first answer. Hmm. Somehow I still think Richard will break his losing streak today.
    Yes! As predicted, Richard (wisely) went with "de Havilland".
    Richard scores his 281st H/H match today.
    ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Charles - 48.5% (33 wins in 68 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts).
    Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Brett - 42.0% (29 wins in 69 attempts).
    Richard - 41.8% (281 wins in 673 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1018, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. Additionally, these stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969.

      It's the scene where Sandy (ONJ) is just starting school and registering in the front office; Fanny comes through in her nurse outfit and makes a comment about all her tongue depressors already having gone missing. I think Alice Ghostley is in the scene as well, as the shop teacher.
