Agreed, that's why I wanted to ask if a course would be something interesting, it's a pretty straight forward synth, so not entirely sure if it needs a course, but there are def a few things that can be really explored ya know?
Great video! A course would be cool. I have ABL3, AcidBox and a Korg Volca Bass. Just purchased Arturia Acid V and agree with most of your points! I used a real Roland TB-303 in a professional studio years ago. Only the Acid V gives me the similar experience as the real thing in a studio but with way more possibilities to easily program patches and route effects. No need for a closet full of distortion pedals, cables, batteries, etc. You can program and dial in a killer track in less than hour. It would easily take an entire day (if you didn't lose inspiration) to come up with something similar using the real thing. Lastly, Acid V is unlike most software emulations in that there is very little ear fatigue. I can tweak one pattern for 3 minutes and it sounds just as good as when I started. One reason people can have a blast with a Behringer TD, Volca Bass, etc. is that real analogue sounds are constantly different even if they audibly sound the same (think guitar string pluck). Digital sounds are often simply perfect snapshots of the exact same audio signal (maybe pitched differently). The human brain can detect the difference and becomes easily board or the listener suffers ear fatigue as a result. Arturia has mostly solved this issue in Acid V as it generally feels like I am twiddling the knobs of an updated modded 303.
I think the consensus is that I'll be making an Acid course here soon. That will be a lot of fun! The Acid V seems like a perfect balance of the sound of the original but none of the draw backs, and the extra bells and whistles that comes with arturia synths. They did such a fantastic job, that I don't feel the need to hunt down an original tb303 anymore.
I prefer the sound of D16's Phosycon 2 and I love the random sequencing it can do. But the Arturia modulation routing and shaping in Acid V looks like a lot of fun.
after using this one for a few weeks, the Phosycon takes a major crap on this emulation. So much easier to program, less to worry about it, and just sounds way better.
I have all of the 303 vst`s and think i prefer the AudioRealism ABL3 as it just loads up with cubase and works and times in sync straight away. But they are all good :)
I haven't used that one before, I'll have to look into it. I hope arturia adds a way to have multiple sequences in the same patch that we can switch between. That would upgrade it's workflow so much
I own the Roland TB303 vst and whilst that is a great thing to play with this emulation is so intuitive to use (I’m an Arturia user) but overall it’s the sound this thing makes - I couldn’t fine a preset which wasn’t absolutely 💯
That's def a possibility, it does have a sub osc and also on the parameters accessed through the button on the top right, you can juice up the low end with the bass boost control
Its interesting you bring that up. That's what I have planned for Monday, basically a good way to approach using acid V. What I find works a lot for me is start off with a tempo around 138-142 then get a kick you like in 4/4 and add a hat that also hits 4 times, a little big after the kicks hit. And a nice bass that hits with the hats. That will give you a good groove to start with. Then open up acid. Get a default patch, remove all the notes in the sequencer and start adding in notes and build a rhythm first, then slowly adjust the notes in the rhythm. Add distortion and Fx once you like the sequence you got. I know the feeling of wanting to crank that distortion before we really get a sequence going but trust me you'll end up with better patches if your dry as a bone patch sounds good rhythmically first, then enhance with Fx. Oh and use an external plate reverb as a send 🤙
That's a very good idea!! I'll consider making something like that. One of the reasons I'm so happy this plugin came out is because I never really liked the interface of transistor bass. It sounds great that's a given, but working with transistor bass for me was just unenjoyable. Acid V features with the built in Fx and modulation alone beat out TB imo
@@jonaudio Great! I agree with you. Someone who does not own any kind of original (or less original) Roland hardware has troubles to get into TB. But IMHO, TB sounds good, and has many interesting features. However, I must admit most of FXs and automations must come from outside (FL Studio), what is partly included in freestanding plugins like Acid V.
inside the sequencer page, you'll see a little button with a disk on it on the left hand side (its right under where you toggle between sequencer and arpeggiator), and you'll click on that, it will prompt you to name your sequence, then click save
no worries my man, so if you want to record the audio output of acid V in FL internally, what you could do put the midi clip in the playlist, right click the playlist header and select 'consolidate track(s)' and either choose from song start or pattern start. Or you can unroute the fader its on from the master to an empty track, arm the empty track and hit record. either way will get you there.
@@jonaudio I've watched quite a few vids about the Acid V and it struck me that so few of them accompanied the synth with kicks. To me, it's the obvious thing to do. I think that a course would only be useful to novices because it's relatively basic but demonstrating some truly creative ways to use its functions might inspire some bangers.
@@jonaudio there's an ongoing argument on kvr about what v stands for, it was thought it stood for vintage but with newer and original arturia synths in the collection i think virtual makes more sense 😂
It was probably me not playing in time due to excitement lol because the kick is perfectly synced to my tempo, the only thing thats not synced are my fat fingers haha, so that's probably what you're hearing
not impressed, i downloaded Arturia Acid and compared to rebirth & i prefer 1000 times the sound of rebirth propellerhead, there are obvious differences. I was disapointed because this plugin ( Arturia ) is more flexible. Anyway, thanks for the video !
you're very welcome my man! I haven't checked out rebirth before, gonna have to take a look at it for sure. I do like how flexible arturias version is. I'm so used to pigments that using acid V felt like it took no time at all to learn.
D16 look and sound more fun to me. I don’t care about modulation cause I’m in bitwig. But what I have noticed Arturia need to work on cpu optimisation. 25 percent of mighty m1pro is way too much.
yes please full course if you have time. im in love with this synth 😎
I think I'm gonna have to do that for sure
Yes, full course please. Love that I discovered your channel!
I think I'll end up doing a course for it 🤙🤙would be a lot of fun
yes please

FINALLY THIS IS ON SALE AGAIN IN 2024!! FIRST VST I'LL BE BUYING, I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND WHAT IT CAN DO!
Hell yeah!! It sounds super authentic and just an over cool synth to get badass acid sounds out of
Reminds me of my days with ReBirth RB338. A long time ago ...
The box still sits on my shelf.
Most def would love a course on this!
Good to know!! I absolutely love this new synth, so a course would be really fun to make!
me too
Has a very 90's trance house & acid/jungle feel to it.
Absolutely!
yeah would love the course too. Although it's not that complicated. I would prefer an ideas type video. Creative ideas on how to use all the features.
Agreed, that's why I wanted to ask if a course would be something interesting, it's a pretty straight forward synth, so not entirely sure if it needs a course, but there are def a few things that can be really explored ya know?
I installed the plugin and absolutely love it.
Hell yeah!! Dude it's amazing!! It sounds soooo good!!
A full course on this would be much appreciated 👍🏼
The best TB emulation so far! 🧪
100000% agree!!!

That one is also a reeeeeally good emulation! Like you said the modulation routing makes so many things possible

and yes to the course
hell yeah!!
thank you brother I'm sold!!!!!!
Since you mentioned the Lauch key 49, how do you like it? I'm looking for a new midi controller myself, curious as to your thoughts on it
Great job! I just got this, and it's pretty damn cool.
Right? It's such a fun synth!
Such an easy synth to get great results and it sounds really good. It is a bit pricey for what it is though, especially compared to D16s Phoscycon 2.
Yeah they did a good job on it! Luckily they got sales pretty often
...min 6:00 is just sick! I love it. i don't care it's digital it sounds great!
arturia did a great job! they nailed the sound

Best and fav synth used by Kai Tracid
Another plugin im going to have to buy 😂 i already have the abl3, but this just seems to be more advanced!
It's pretty awesome!
Sounds thin, might be the distortion though. Be good to hear a clean demo of the basic sound.
That's def a possibility, it does have a sub osc and also on the parameters accessed through the button on the top right, you can juice up the low end with the bass boost control
@@jonaudio Thanks, guess i'll have to demo it.
You absolutely should. I think you'll really like it!!
Interesting. And nostalgic.
It sure is!!
I have a launch key 49 key board with reaper as my DAW is that compatible thanks
I don't use reaper but if you can load vsts in reaper then yes it is compatible!
sounds dope !! need to get it when i get some cash over^^just got bitpunk and starfield so maybe next month^^
It's def worth it. Arturia stuck gold with this one!
BTW Jon any tips on how to start or record in a DAW acid music kick, bass then sequence ?

Where is the Play-Button using it as stand-alone?
sry for the late responce, but you can send some midi to acid V and press the hold button on the bottom left of the synth
