I really like your content--not sensational, very well thought out, extremely helpful and entertaining. I spent my first two months of Thailand walking around in Bangkok, and was so happy to discover many of the the great places you show in this video. Pretty parks and walking areas, friendly street vendors, delicious food and smoothies, cool coffee shops, upscale shopping malls, nice museums, lovely temples, and many fun bars with live music in the evenings. So many wonderful things, from the low-end to the very high-end. Now I'm in Chiang Mai, but I still go back to visit Bangkok about once a month or two. Bangkok is a truly great city. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great content!
Ive been to Thailand twice, my brain will not let me accept these prices exist as i prepare for staying long term. Your videos like this one certainly ease the unnecessary stress i create in my head.
simple math..longer u stay cheaper it gets. Thats the great about Thailand and se-asia in general, u can spend how little u want or how much u want and all between ;)
Working and living in krung thep(bangkok) and living in a almost thai only middle-class area i often spend less than 10-12 $ on food and drink a day. And yet i enjoy 4-5 smaller meals a day and ice coffee and fruit smoothies and fruit.
@@thebangkokguide from my experience the best food is often in small local "hole in the wall" places with 3-4tables and stools on smaller streets or backstreets and streetfood sellers that worked longtime..there is a reason why they still sell food.. can't compare it to mall foodcourts or the westernized modern restaurants or even luxuryplaces yeah i can eat for 100$ or even 1000$ if i WANT i do have the means for it.. but its not the same flavors and love in the food or feeling that u support the localsellers and restaurants that is Thailands backbone in food.

Always learning new things, had no idea of the warehouses in benjakitti park. How many blogs have i seen about this park now? Always something new to see with you Cal!
Hi Cal. Just out of curiosity, do you ever track your steps (or kilometers/mileage) when you go out on a long walk for your content? And perhaps, what’s the longest distance you’ve ever walked in Thailand in one day? Thank you.
Very enjoyable vlog full of practical and down to earth information. A bit like the vlogs by Bangkok Pat (are you a cat lover as well? 😉). Just subscibed 🙂. Keep 'em coming!
cool show today, when I am there I regularly fast 30 hours or better every 3-4 days, then sometimes 48-60 hours, so my cost are really low, I do it for desease or sickness prevention, but am still active with walking and Muay Thai
There are videos with good audio of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, they are good. Def must see/hear live while having a picnic...I can't wait to be living in a big city again
I heard that prices in Canada are very expensive including house prices, car prices, gas prices, water bills, electricity bills, gas bills, taxes, restaurant prices, supermarket prices, and fast food prices. Many Canadians have left Canada. Is this true?
Definitely expensive there. But actually people are moving to Canada in huge numbers. This is why it is now so expensive… too many people are moving there! Last year over a million people immigrated to Canada.
When I was in BKK I would live like this 2-3 days a week to keep the costs under control. Was fine for me, but does get old after a while. I would look forward to the western food and a nice steak at least once a week. People rave about Thai food but you often find those people are the ones who come for a few weeks and then go home. I cant live without a decent pizza or burger at least every now and then!! LOL.
Yeah I’m pretty similar to that. I like to mix up my diet and activities. My budget these days is quite a lot higher but this budget really helped me save and invest money. Cheers!
Very rarely actually. The main caution I would give is to avoid anything that has been sitting out and try to eat things they are cooked on the spot. But I’ve actually only had proper food poisoning about 3 times in 8 years here.
You can ask for no sugar. Just say “mai wan”.. it means “not sweet” and they won’t add any sugar. I normally order everything without sugar. My camera glitched out while I was ordering and cut the conversation 😂
@@grahaml6072 that’s correct. I agree. For visitors or newcomers I think it can just be a bit easier to remember the ‘not sweet’ translation, but ‘no sugar’ is definitely the more accurate term.

Thats all good for one day. But are you going to do this (pretty much nothing) everyday? Beware those who come to Thailand. If you want to do something exciting, or enjoy wine, want a steak once in awhile, want a girlfriend, or even just to go sit with other humans....this budget isnt going to do it. If you just want to eat street food, walk around looking at things your not going to buy and dont mind celibacy or excitement....maybe. I love Thailand and live very well here for a lot less than the west. But 300 baht....come on bro. People are coming here and failing because they are led to believe its almost free. Most people could not "just sit and eat coconut ice cream all day."
I think you might be overthinking the whole thing. This video is showing a day out on a low budget. Personally, I followed this budget while focusing on building out online income sources and investing. It was excellent for my focus and motivation, and allowed me to invest all my extra income. I can spend much more if I want to, but frankly I still enjoy a nice simple day out. And I definitely wasn’t celibate and had plenty of friends at the time as well.
