I just don't understand why the red sox would pay prospect capital AND payroll (in terms of an extension) for crochet when they could get burnes and/or fried using just payroll and the QO comp picks. The asking price for crochet is so ridiculously high for a guy who's had one good season but hasn't shown that he can consistently deliver as a workhorse SP, and only has 2 remaining years of control. Can you even count on him to pitch 300 innings over the next two years? 4 years of Casas for 2 years of Crochet alone is tough to swallow.
@@JustBaseballFansLove that you guys stay away from sensational narratives and actually mention Snell filling the Urias hole. No one else has mentioned this! And how Edman (Socal) is the off season pivot cog and the uber CT3 replacement. From day 1, Walter and Kasten said they want to win. Fans saw their moves and look forward to each season’s possibility to win each year. Eons from 2011 and McCourt yet barely over a decade to where they are now. Impressive and should be studied and copied by every group.
I think Abreu and Mayer as the headliners for Crochet gets it done. 5 years of control of Abreu for 1 year of Helsley and an old Arenado who you have to pay is lunacy
Wait so the Orioles first offseason with new ownership and as “big spenders” is replacing Burnes and Santander with Manaea and Grichuk? Would be a terrible look and a bad offseason imo. Would love Grichuk and kinda Manaea (besides the QO) but like I feel like they would be lesser pieces than what the Os will/should be shooting for especially with the weaker farm system meaning less trade potential. It just doesn’t feel like a team trying to win coming off of 2 great seasons.
Yeah man. If that's what ends up happening I'm not renewing my MASN subscription. No point. I thought those years of suffering was leading to something, but if they don't spend to supplement the roster it was all for nothing.
@@JustBaseballFans In a perfect world, we bring back Tony and Burnes. I realize Burnes is probably not realistic, but I think you need to sign one of Fried, Burnes, Santander, or Teoscar. Then, you can start looking at the guys you were talking about.
The O's need to be more aggressive this year. If there was ever a "go for it now" window, it's right now and it won't last long. They have nobody signed long term. They have new ownership worth over $120 billion collectively that are all from the Baltimore area and have proclaimed their desire to build a sustained winner. They have one of the better front offices when it comes to identifying talent. What's preventing them from spending big at this point? It's been well established in baseball. If you want to win, you have to spend. There's a reason no team in the history of the sport has won a championship with a bottom 5 payroll and no team the last 20 years has won with a payroll ranking lower than 16th in the league. More spending=more winning.
Is it worth it to talk about how taxes affect these contracts? Like a $50 million contract from the dodgers (high income tax) and a $50 million from the mariners (no income tax) are completely different contracts
Monday, December 02, December 02, 2024, 8:25 pm Boston Red Sox: 1. Keep Tristan Casas at 1B. 2. Move Rafael Devers from 3B to DH. 3. Bring up Marcelo Mayer to play 3B. 4. Trade someone for CWS SP Crochet. 5. (Pray Crochet remains healthy.) 6. Understand that Boston is in Rebuild Mode. 7. Understand that Boston will not contend in 2025. *
O's better sign Freid, Buehler or Eovaldi, T/O Hernandez, and Scott. Then they may have an equal shot ! Enough with the cheap RETREADS! Povich and McDermott are NOT READY! Kremer's #'s are worsening every yr!!!
I totally disagree with u guys of to trade mountcastle, so I say that we trade mountcastle and a prospect/cash consideration to Toronto for vladmir guerrero Jr and chad green, I say that we resign Corbin burns and sign max fried, and we like sign aroldis chapman n clay holmes for out bullpen and we sign teoscar hernandez reunite Austin hays/sign Taylor ward, Tyler O'Neil and resign Santander., we should sign roki sasaki, we keep trevor rodgers and chance McDermott in the minors and we have cade povich in bullpen as a long relief man, trade trevor rodgers, chance McDermott and coby mayo to cards for Ryan hesley and nolan erenado
They better. There's absolutely nothing preventing them from having a $200+ mil payroll at this point. They have all the right people in place at ownership, the front office and have built a very talented major league roster that's ready to truly contend. They're just missing a few pieces. Their ownership is worth $120 billion and they have no long term commitments currently. Identify the guys you want, pay them and give this team a real chance to actually win.
Those Red Sox mock trades from Jack are so foul 😂
Hope you at least enjoyed the conversation and thought exercise!
Dodgers fan here, stumbled upon your pod. ❤ your objectivity with analyzing your team and other teams. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!

When you guys post a new episode, it's like Christmas for me. Baseball love!

best baseball channel out there. Keep it guys.
Love the show ! Shoutout Aram
Means a lot from you!! One of the best channels in the game!!
Excellent points, guys. I got a better perspective of all of the things at play when deciding for deals.
This episode is in the future
Mountcastle is a perfect trade piece and a top 1st baseman!
that package for crochet would be awful man

Fair point, just feels like they're kind of tweeers fit wise with this FA crop. What aggressive moves could you see them making?!

O's should bring Mc Can back! Trade : Mullins, Mateo, Mountcastle, and Povich for Skubal, Gilbert, or Crochet.
Today is December 2nd, not a day that will live in infamy.

O's need to spend the money or begin trading away all prospects for new ones and continue to have the weakest team in baseball!
