Interesting. Randy Purcell wrote the chart and initially performed the trombone solo. So in all likelihood he had left the band and the young Irish t-bonist continued playing lead. Now Maynard never did record the time for the record companies. It was however a huge crowd pleaser and became a big hit live. I heard him.play it live at least once too.
