Well you did not mention the Auto Car or the Western Star ? And the Dodge . They was good work horses as well. Thank you for you presentation it brought back memories back from my childhood. Back then they was all monsters as a little kid .
With the thousands of F 700 mack's used by Hennis, Roadway, and many other large companies, I certainly never thought of them as "rare". They seemed to be the most common heavy truck on the road in their day.
What a complete waste of time. None of these trucks were rare. What about the Dodge big horn? They only made 246 of them. Wow won't even have a non Is synchronous Transmission. Name one. Truck back then that didn't.
I'd like Ford to reintroduce the C Series as a compact rear sleeper cab Tractor with a 525hp 6 cylinder diesel paired to a 10-speed Eaton Fuller transmission tandem axle with added single wheel third load bearing tag axle, 105,000 GVWR chassis, with sextuple damper rear tube shocks plus quadruple rear air suspension. Yes Sir there were some real nice looking truck you put together here and I remember a couple of them too. As a retired Truck Driver I had driven a couple of the Brands and Models shown , but you missed atleaste one one Brand of Truck was the Old Marmon Truck they were wide took up almost the width of the lane you were in. I learned in a 1956, International, gasoline engine, 5X3 Brownie, 22” steering wheel no power steering. Next was 73 COE Freightliner,13 speed. Next 1978 conventional Freightshaker. Had a Mack attack, 5X4X3 trannies, dump. Finally, last truck I owned was a T700 KW,2016, 10 speed automatic, this was my MONEY MAKER! Retired now. Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down! Keep the left door shut and pay attention! Truck easy.
The Mack F 700 only short coming was that it didn't come with a standard mechanic. The one I drove was broke down more than it ran. Weyerhaeuser had a dozen or so, all us younger drivers were stuck with them. We all carried 5 gallons of oil to keep it up on the dipstick. they leaked more oil than a Detroit.
So the Sterlings were Ford rebranded to bring back the Sterling brand. They were produced by Daimler-Freightliner. These are not rare trucks. None of these trucks are what would be called rare trucks. I think there are a lot of trucks missing off this list. There are too many to name. Better research needs to be done next time.
