so on this particular one, it was the first initial inspection. but they do recommend checking them periodically. on my personal atvs, i do them every year before the season starts.
Thanks! I just bought a 2019 700-4 with 2,900 miles. Looks great, and dealer maintained. I was able to download a Honda owners manual today, so I'm getting my head around the service requirements. Delivery next Thursday!
im pretty sure the filter is on the fuel pump... like a car... it would be in the fuel tank. youd have ro remove the sending unit out and replace the filter element on the bottom. unfortunately i dont have any video on doing this.
Great video! Did you even need to adjust the valves? I'm debating as to whether to have Honda do it for $350. I have the Pioneer 1000. What's your thoughts?
If they are out of spec I would absolutely do it. And if you can check them then you can adjust them haha. $350 is a fair price but if you have any mechanical knowledge I would recommend doing it yourself. Also no I didn't adjust them, it was right on the money. 👍
If I do it myself anyone no if it will void the warranty ?? Dealer tell me it’s 450$ for them so I’m kinda worried it might hurt my warranty if I do it myself
@@garyadkins5626 warranty will not be effected. It’s illegal to be forced to pay and have a dealer service your machine in order to retain you’re factory warranty. It would have to be free to the customer for it to be legal
I always appreciate maintenance vids,, however the music makes me want to rip something apart in an aggressive manner. lolI could not watch the whole vid, I had to skip ahead. also in my manual, the valve maintenance is 100 hours or 1000 miles.
+tscan100 haha ya the music choices I have on my phone are a little off. Hopefully when I get new video editing software I'll have more choices. I do all my editing on my phone so it makes it a little difficult.... my buddy gave me his online manual and that's what honda recommends i guess. Haha but thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.
I have 2017 pioneer 700 4 deluxe it started smoking from exhaust I think it's whitish smoke after it runs for about 2 minutes. I am thinking it's due to overheating but I don't know what part I need to change out. Any info would be helpful so I can get back on trails. I can't take it to dealer since I have it on a Faraway lease.
Anytime you overheat an engine you always have to look and see if you blew a head gasket or possibly warped the head. If the smoke smells sweet you probably have coolant getting into the combustion chamber, which usually means head gasket. Check and see if your coolant level has gone down any and see if your oil level has gone up/or if its milky. Absolutely do NOT use head gasket repair, the stuff in a bottle.
@@Simpsons.R.S thanks for responding back. I will have to drain radiator due to it only has water in there since last ride. Engine oil is normal not milky. Where would the head gasket be located and if busted how would it look?✌️
Haha well that's the tricky part. Usually the gasket breaks internally. You won't be able to see it unless you pull the head off. If it blows out completely Itll leak outside onto you cylinder jug. If that's the case you won't have any issue finding it.
@@Simpsons.R.S lol. Ok I'll try and refill with antifreeze and remove top part of motor where spark plugs are at and take it from there. Thanks again brother.
They work with hydraulics. Older cars with solid lifters would need adjustments. Like the 5.9 Cummins engines. They need checked every once in a while.
Excellent video and very helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to shoot this and post, it really helped me out.
Thanks for the videos on Honda pioneer 700 they are very helpful
Does this pioneer throw up lots of heat? The insulating piece under the seat looked like it melted away lol
Mine does and it’s a 700-2 especially during a hot day during the summer
Can you do a video changing the valve seals?
Ah that's a pretty big job. Next time I have a top end apart I can make one. Do you need one for this model or valve seals in general?
Is this just an initial lash adjustment, or a periodic requirement?

Hey sorry I didn't see you comment. That's a good point. If you're worried about any warranty issues, I would highly recommend having them do it.

No problem. Hardest part of doing that job will be retiming the engine. Just mark the cam gear and chain with a paint pen. 👍
Just one more question why do new cars not need to go through this process

Ken Conway hydraulic valve lifters.
