She has a leftist world view, while he is clearly more leaning to the right in his values. She is outspoken and opinionated while he is closed up. She was raised by a single mother, while he grew up in a traditional family (both parents). She puts up walls to protect herself from getting hurt. Doesn't want to rely on a man to save her (a feminist) while he wants to be her knight in shinning armor. This movie is excellent if you take the time to analyze all of the themes and complex subjects that are hiding in the background of this love story. A picture of modern society and the difficulties the young generation is facing in everyday life, from money, healthcare, peer pressure, family expectations, ...etc.
