I've been following MinnMax for a few years and Deepest Dives are always the most exciting content I look forward to everytime which is saying something considering all the excellent content you guys put out. These videos genuinely enhance the experience of the game beyond what you play.
Scariest part for me was going back to the chiefs manor for the savage mutt quest. Pure tension as I walked through the house expecting the dog to leap out of nowhere
"Freeze! I said freeze!" *Spanish man obviously continues attacking trespassing foreign agent in his home who is shouting at him foreignly* Yea, Remake Leon definitely has more tact. Knowing some Spanish is a good start.
Very fun convo. Great job everyone! When I said you can cancel a grab I meant when an enemy is lunging at you with their arms outreached to grab you, if you, without aiming, quickly press R2, Leon will slash at them with the knife, which knocks them out of the animation and puts them into a stunned state. P.S. I find I stun enemies more consistently by shooting them in the shins or feet, rather than the knee itself now.
Resident Evil 4 is a top 5 of all time for me. Played the absolute devil out of it, logged dozens of hours into Mercenaries mode, etc. I love it so much and yet, Somehow this remake still blew my brain out the back of my head. Maybe because it's been years and it all came rushing back? And how the modernization felt so great across the board? Whatever it is, I'm sure of it: Resident Evil 4 is the best RE game since Resident Evil 4.
I am so on the same page as Kyle about the initial "Does RE4 really need a remake?" reaction that Ben brought up. I feel like with every trailer and the demo and now the launch there have been people saying that the remake naysayers should be eating their words now. I never doubted that this remake would turn out as well as it has and I am absolutely loving it, but that doesn't change the fact that I would have preferred Code Veronica first. I still hope they get to it eventually. Anyway, it is a little funny to me that I would call RE4 remake a game "I never asked for" and also my clear favorite game of the year so far.
To Kyle's point about Mendez transformation, new RE games don't really do those anymore because animations and model changes are pretty tough for devs nowadays. That's why dead space devs were really proud the morgue transformation in remake.
Returning to the Village Chief Manor to find the 'stray dog' in the dead of night had me on edge. It was dead silent and I was just anticipating the dog to bust out of it's hiding place. Such a shame that when I actually found the dog Leon would repeat his "Hello there" line EVERY time I broke line of sight with the dog and found it again.
I dont like to be in deepest dives because I like to take my time and what not but this time it so happens I am also currently in chapter 6 so lets go :) BOLTS BABY BOLTS
@@minnmax She's great! Also I'll add to what Deus said, we also need Ronnie and Grant for Rebirth! That full squad for FF7 deepest dive again might be my most anticipated YT videos all year lmao
I do apologize. I hadn’t seen any Minnmax videos w/ Sarah yet, and she was not a part of the FF7 videos I watched. I made this comment before even getting a few minutes into watching. It didn’t mean anything; just that I was excited to see the 3 guys together again in a video. That said I followed along with all of the Resident Evil videos and really enjoyed listening to Sarah.
The parry window is so large that it's actually a block. You can just walk around with the knife out and block everything. A perfect parry opens them up for melee and uses less durability.
I played RE4 2005 with the hd project mod again a week before the remake came out. Still an amazing game gameplay wise, I even was playing the Ada expansion as well as mercenaries when the remake already came out on my steam deck at work. Still amazing. My problem with 2005 was more about the last area which they did fix in the remake. Also Leon never talks to the Merchant is a thing, there’s a fan theory that the merchant isn’t even real but just a figment of Leon’s imagination. Because if you notice Ashley never mentions anything about him.
To JeffM's comment regarding the checkpoint system, the original had checkpoints at each door/new level, however you could not use these saves after leaving to the main menu, only on death. I assume it's modernized in the remake.
I agree with Kyle. While I'm loving this remake, I dont think it necessarily replaces the original for me (the way RE remake or RE2 does). Im still in the castle about to finish Ch 11.
Just finished my first play through and I absolutely love this game!! I marathoned it in - few days and so glad I did. 9.75/10. It no surpasses RE2 Remake for me as the best RE game. Now I’m scratching the RE inch playing RE3 Remake then Village. Great DD!
Kyle definitely picks up the slack in the superfan department so its all good. Absolutely love these videos btw. I always felt like podcasts discussing video games had more potential and y'all have definitely proved it
Glad to hear JeffM is playing on assisted. I dropped it down after my 4th death in the first big fight. My only gripe is that the bosses are way too easy, but the mass ganado fights are still super intense and harrowing.
The red dot sight conversation is a no brainer. Its just better. The reticle (when not fully focused) has a random bullet spread, leaving fast paced accuracy up to luck a lot of the time. With the red dot sight, its all on you to be accurate. This was probably my main criticism of the game. The red dot sight being limited to a few pistols isnt a good change. Especially for the target practice minigames.
I was so excited when I saw this upload, but then I experienced the dawning horror that Jacob would not be part of it. That is much more horrifying than anything in (the immensely tense) REmake 4
I wanted to organize my case like in the original game but after accidentally pressing the auto-sort which screwed up all of my organizational work too many times, I eventually said F it and just used the auto-sort. I hope they put an option to remove the auto-sort option to avoid it messing everything up when accidentally pressed (L3 is not difficult to accidentally press).
For every one good community comment there are four dumb comments just complaining about something that's their own fault in some way. Not just this deep dive. Every single one.
I think Resident Evil is one of those game series where Hardcore is the real mode. It's hard but it's not as hard as the hardest difficulty of a game should be. I think Maximilian Dood is the one who started this, and Capcom really pays attention to him (cuz he's also a Street Fighter guy as well as RE guy). And I was amazed how forgiving Hardcore mode of RE2 remake and RE8 was. So much so that watching other UA-camr play standard and the difference was jarring. Garrador died very quickly in Standard.
Who's gameplay is being shown? They're making the game more difficult for themselves by shooting every enemy in the chest and wasting all of their ammo. Lol
RE4 doesn't have ammo scarcity, its not like the other resident evils in that way because RE4 is designed as an action game, not survival horror. Therefore, Jeff's reasoning for playing assisted mode doesn't make any sense and falls flat to anyone familiar with the game
I've also never played the original. But this game is very good. I didn't think I'd like it. The tone hasn't bothered me at all. It's not good at all, but come on, have you every played a JRPG? Those things are FAAAAAAAAARRRR worse. The chase sequence is bad though. Actually just bad.
I loved how Sarah, JeffM or Kyle had absolutely no reaction when Hanson made the Chris Martin Coldplay joke. Just let him say it and move on. ua-cam.com/video/GfEwRbAE1_Y/v-deo.html

Never yelled "NO!" louder at a podcast than Kyle saying that the Red9 shoots faster but weaker
The weird thing is we actually heard that echo through space and time.

Super kind of you, thanks! Any help sharing is appreciated.

24:50 - That first villager in the original RE4 100% swings an axe at Leon before you start shooting.
"Freeze! I said freeze!"
*Spanish man obviously continues attacking trespassing foreign agent in his home who is shouting at him foreignly*
Yea, Remake Leon definitely has more tact. Knowing some Spanish is a good start.
@@smooth_one Attacking unprovoked. And he wasn't shouting until an axe was swung at his head.
Whoever was playing for the B roll did not know they can hit triangle/Y to go straight to the attache case. I laughed every time thank you.
That is SO embarrassing lol
I laughed so many times during this deepest dive that my face was sore afterward. This is definitely one of my favorite deepest dives yet!
Thanks so much, Sean! Any help sharing it is appreciated.
Yooo this is exactly the content I've been wanting

That Skort Mission joke did not get the love it deserved
Good on you jeffM, play how you want
I've never played the original or this remake but still love listening these :)
Solid stuff MM
Oh wow, that's interesting. Well thanks for watching!
Ben, in the settings there is literally a setting to have haptics on except for Leon's footfalls while running. Not a joke.
Just finished Chapter 6 a few minutes ago, pumped to see this on my feed! Can't wait to dive in with you all!
The skort mission joke got me. I was cackling 😂

Note about whispering when crouching…A Plague Tale: Requiem did this excellently last year…so that is another one beside Spider Man
I’m playing the game on hardcore, it feels a bit more survival horror, would definitely recommend

We've been looking forward to this comment.
I don't think the Ganado was banging his head. I think he was nailing the door, locking Luis in the basement.

Awesome, played all weekend. Ended at a certain knife fight. Love it, and I'm so excited for this Deepest Dive!
Been a long time, comrade.
I can always count on Hanson for an underappreciated Simpsons reference! And a Treehouse of Horror one at that!
Perfect, just finished the game and hoped Minnmax has done a Deepest Dive! I was not disappointed!
Been waiting on this!
Same!
Jeffm needs to get off the 1080p train. its time, it was a good train..
Hello from the future where I got around to play RE4. I’m red hot on this remake and I’m glad this deepest dive exists.
Hello from the past, thanks for playing!
Wild opinion here, but did you know that Resident Evil 4 is a damn fine game.

I somehow completely missed the wolf you guys are talking about, the only dogs I saw were evil ones. Where was it?
JeffM is a hero for saying he's playing on easy. Do what makes it fun for you!
Is Leon hot? Does gravity hold you to the earth. He is the perfect combo of jrpg f-boy and brooding western anti-hero. He is the hottest.
