I think what adds to Matt's charm and talent, he seems to have been a very genuine caring person as well, and apparently a great sense of humour ❤❤❤
Mart Monroe was the most underrated singer in his time but arguably I believe he had the best voice. Yes, even better than Sinatra.

Am not fan of Matt Monroe but when I saw his live performance and sang Walk away I can't help but cry, the way he delivered the message of the song. Same with if I never sing another song. It's a pity he died early.

My late Father "Loved" Matt Monro and we even chose one of his songs "Softly When I leave
you" for his Funeral. My Father was always singing his songs, and a waitress once came up
to my Father and said "Excuse me Sir, are you Matt Monro" that was my late Father's best
compliment, because he was a "Big Fan" of his. I have been playing a cd of Matt's Hits to my
severley disabled Mother, who is in a Nursing Home now, and it seems to really sooth her.
I Never Tire of listening to his smooth voice. I can see now, why my late Father liked him so

Matt Monro's daughter wrote a bestselling biography of the great man a few years ago and Don Black who wrote so many great songs, was Matts manager for almost all of his career..She said as Blacks career as a songwriter took off he had little time for her father, who being a very loyal man wouldn't leave Black. She was really scathing in her criticism and said Matts loyalty to Don Black really held back his career. Eventually in the last years of his life, Matt and Black parted company and his new, young manager totally revived her fathers career both in England and Las Vegas.....so at least he went out at the top. This program was very popular in it's day and the acts are top class, plus Matt Monro and Bernard manning were close friends for years.

technically he probably had the greatest voice from the UK, you can tell class, when you do the Wheeltappers, they will tell you if they dont like you, the applause says it all here, he could adapt to any place, no frills just the voice, thats all Matt needed, i saw a guy who worked with Bernard Manning a few times his name was Adrian Paris, another great voice, Bernard wrote a piece saying, he was like Matt Monro.

That's Bernard Manning acting as compere, and he himself began in show business as a singer with a dance band but later switched to standup comedy. The chairman who interrupts is Colin Crompton, another standup, who takes the role of a bossy halfwit in a working man's club. Matt Monro never had his own TV show, so his TV career consisted of short appearances on variety shows such as this. He began his working life as a bus driver and sang in many real-life clubs, but I think he's too classy and just too good for this small venue.

Ok so one of the best voices in the history of human kind...in one of the the crumbiest night clubs (holiday camps) in England...introduced by Bernard Manning (his friend)...a crap sound system and totally under selling himself as a performer...Jesus...that is so British....

But the working class Brits are very good at selling themselves short....it is in our DNA, bred into us from an early age. Unless you have a private education of course, in which case you think the sun shines out of your anus.

This is not a working mans club. It's recorded in a purpose built studio. They had the top stars of the day perform here.
