    I don't have access to PS so is there any way to get hold of the pictures you used?
    The one's for patterns?

    I want to start with book folding, but one thing I don't understand: Sometimes you have to fold multiple pages for one line, because there are multiple breaks in the design. Doesn't this mess up the design? do you have to multiply all the other lines to even it out? How does this work?

    • @Diymarta
      @Diymarta  5 років тому

      Great observation, but you never fold more than one page per line. My other videos will show how to fold and create the final illusion that all the pieces are folded.

    Hi Marta! I am really struggling with Gimp and making my word have the correct 554 lines. Even when I fill my word with one of your images (which maybe I am doing wrong) I can only get 146 total lines in my word. I am looking everywhere for answers and I don't know what to do. Any help at all would be amazing. I'm almost at the point of drawing my own lines by hand....

  • @andrewclark1966

    Thank you for this great tutorial, and your others on how to cut and fold a book. I am about to create my first folded book but wonder if I am misunderstanding something. In this video the number of lines in your word art does not seem to match the number from the filename of the picture you have selected. For example: There are approximately 160 lines in the word "Book" so I assume that would need a 320 page book, but you selected the 616 page image as your fill. I downloaded the 440PageBG.jpg file and it only has about 100 lines in it.
    I have instead used a fill pattern for my own design and counted 240 lines on my printout, so I believe I would need a 480 page book? Is that correct? And if so what might I need to do to make your predefined striped images give the actual count in MS Word so it would match the number in the filename?

    • @Diymarta
      @Diymarta  6 років тому

      Are you counting both black and white stripes? Each stripe is two numberes pages (back and front of one sheet )

    Hello Marta, I really like your videos, and your creative ideas 😊 Now I have a book with 1000 pages, and I also made a pattern with 550 and 792 lines, that you created. Does it mean that I have to use 550 lines or 792 (close to 1000)? Thank you!

    • @Diymarta
      @Diymarta  3 роки тому

      If you used my striped backgrounds for your patterns, then use the 792 pages one (not "lines"). That background actually has 396 stripes--each stripe corresponding to one sheet in a book. Each page in a book has two page numbers--front and back, so the 396 stripes will use 792 numbered pages.
      Clear as mud?

      My daughter tried this. She saved her "words" from MS Word 2010 as Word 2007...ultimately, your computer sees it as a compatibility view and all the word art options become available to you...After you save it as an older version, then you can move on in the process of filling in the lines!

I have a book that's 574 pages, which would be 287 foldable pages. Even when I add the 792 page background, I don't have enough pages to fold, I end up with a pattern that has 195 foldable pages with 92 pages left over. I suppose the easiest thing to do would be get a smaller book :)
