    More excited about the 888’s in the back. I think those are the speakers to beat at the 5K price range. After that, it’s the Arendal 1528s

    Just a heads up for anyone that has these speakers for home theater. You can absolutely run these speakers as Large ( full range ) when performing your eq room correction software. I have a 7.7.4 SVS Ultra Evolution setup in my home theater and it rocks ! It’s was night and day coming from Klipsch RP to these.

      You have 7 subs, and still run these full range? Lol

    • @kkenmmac22

      @SGIABC Search Audioholics Svs Ultra Evolution Pinnacle review on UA-cam. Not running these towers full range will affect phase coherency with your subs. Also the bass drivers bandwidth starts below 150hz, running them full range gets you the full performance of these towers.

    • @SGIABC
      @SGIABC Місяць тому +1

      I have the original ultra towers, and I still get those phase problems as well. Usually just after the crossover point. They are good down to about 28hz @95db. I don't think the distortion characteristics are quite as good though. So maybe they are on to something. Maybe don't even bother with subs with a 2channel setup with the evos. I would still think that subs would do better in a cinematic setting though. If those phase relationships are too much of an issue, maybe I should consider Titans instead of these for a future upgrade. I've got 2 pb16s.

    Great review! Would love to see you do a complete breakdown/review of a total svs system! 5.x.4/7.x.4 HT setup with all svs evo!!
    Also, your sound/mic has been very low for the past few videos. Not sure if that is intentional but the videos come thru very quiet. 🎉

      Really, when I listen to my video I have my PC volume at only 38 out of 100 and it's loud and clear on my headphones. I'm curious if others are experiencing what you are experiencing.

    Great video. I was really hoping you would have a segment comparing them to the previous flagship the SVS ultra towers. A lot of people with the old towers on the fence about “upgrading” to the new ones. Personally I really prefer the look of the old towers a whole lot more than these new ones. I remember you really loved the looks of the old ones. For me the biggest downfall isn’t the banana shape, it’s they changed out the shiny metal bezels for these dull ones. Anyways, I haven’t found a single review that directly compares the two speakers.

    • @paulino5970

      Hey there. I recently bought the Evo pinnacles and my old speakers were the ultra towers. I posted a review with my subjective opinion on Reddit but I saw your comment here and thought I would give a quick reply. The Pinnacles are a definite upgrade imo. The sheer size and power alone is a step up. The bass is deeper, more full, and there is more of it. I still think the original towers are great. But the pinnacles do everything they do and much more. They get louder, play cleaner, better clarity, more punch, more power, they pressurize my room far more. The biggest difference is the bass. I don't use my subs anymore when listening to music. They are completely unnecessary. The pinnacles handle every bit of bass with music. Visceral and with authority. The original towers were good in that regard for sure. But I still felt the need to use my subs. Not with the pinnacles. They simply do everything better. All in my subjective opinion of course. Hope this helps.

    Recognizing I'm listening over iMac speakers, it does sound as if I'd need to attenuate the treble some if I buy these, maybe even turn down the bass too, as I'm concerned they'd overwhelm my room given my setup. Just subscribed, by the way.

    Great video Barrett, and nice meeting you at the Audio Show.
    Less from a measurements perspective, but I’d be interested in how you’d qualitatively compare these to the Ultra Towers and Prime Pinnacles you had waaaay back.
    Obviously expecting these to to be better, but given that they’re 2.5x more expensive would you say they’re proportionally better?

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Місяць тому +1

      It was great to meet you too Jesse, too bad I was already on my way out. Hopefully next time we have more time to chat.
      To be honest, I was never very impressed by the SVS Pinnacle towers. The Ultra towers were most definitely a step up from the Pinnacle towers. These Evo Pinnacle towers are a noticeable step up from both of those. In my opinion, they perform better in every metric.
      It's hard for me to say they perform proportionally better, because everyone prioritized different aspects and perceive value differently. In my opinion, these speakers are priced below their performance capabilities. Meaning, if these speakers were released from another "high end" brand with the exact same sound and performance, the other brands would charge more for them. It's hard to get a speaker in this price range that does treble & midrange well, and completely blows your socks off with bass. Full range speakers are pretty much unheard of at this price.

      Next time Gadget, next tiiiiiiime! 😀
      Well put. That sells their capability really well. I have Prime Pinnacles, and similar, they’re good but I was expecting more given the look and number of drivers. Glad to know SVS is back in a good quality:price ratio…after they upped prices last summer on their then offerings I was a bit skeptical.

    Great review! . The old SVS ultras were ok, but your review on the new Pinnacles surprised me. Comparing them to the Aeris, they must be damn good! Kudo's to SVS!! 👍👍 Furthermore, it is extremely rare to find a floor standing speaker that will hit 20hz with authority. Especially for their price!!. Most struggle to hit the mid 30 hz range. The Arendals are way more expensive. $10,000 towers, $4,700 center, bookshelves $4,500. The physical speakers themselves are absolutely massive. The center channel alone weighs 185 lbs 😂. These speakers aren’t definitely not made for small to medium sized rooms, you need to have large room.

      @@kkenmmac22 they have a smaller center speaker available thankfully. and yes they are more expensive but not twice the price so they are in the range. they are extremely heavy so doing the 60 day demo becomes a bit of a hassle if you decide to return them. my current room is 30 x 30 with 15 foot peaked ceiling so big sounding speakers work well for me. my current speaker choice is in a similar range but im thinking that an upgrade may be in the future

    Heard these in Houston at The Grid HiFi and when you compare them to other speakers these are good... but lack so much overall. Impressive for the price point, but at that price there are other options to consider. At around 20-30% more you can get a pair of Noesis 212RT from JTR. You can get more than double the speaker that is bottomless.
    Why not pay a tad more for an endgame speaker?

    • @kkenmmac22
      @kkenmmac22 Місяць тому

      I bought mine from Grid HiFi in Houston after hearing them. No speaker in the world would have sounded good in that room, to large and cluttered, the towers were buried in the corners and obscured aswell. They had the center channel behind a built in acoustically transparent screen on their media cabinet, with the speaker grill still on 😩. They were clueless until I pointed out how that negatively affects the speakers in room response and timbre 😮😂.
      I have an acoustically treated home theater and when I got the speakers home it was night and day , very impressed.

    Thanks for the video. I like bass but Im not in the market to replace my Revels yet. Curious, how would these do with a sub in a hybrid system (HT and 2 ch)? To me, what you mention as soundstage and imaging is really more balance and location...Soundstage and imaging would be instrument location on a stage like in a jazz quartet or symphony orchestra...especially stage depth, etc. Can you listen and place the drums behind the vocals? The strings on the left and horns and woodwind to the right...I like being able to listen and hear things as they would be on the stage live (soundstage). You did a great job reviewing these though and I do appreciate it. For me, a speaker review is most helpful when it includes: Dynamics, soundstage and imaging, highs, mids, lows, detail, separation, trend to cold detailed or warm laid back...also nice to hear how they compare to other speakers. Thanks!

      No problem, I hope you found the video helpful.
      Although, I'm not sure how you confused balance and location with my section labeled sound stage and imaging. I specifically covered things like 3D depth with my Hotel California and Man Who Sold The World examples. I specifically mentioned their ability to give the illusion of a stage in front of you, and being able to place the instruments on that stage in Nirvana's MTV Live, The Man Who Sold The World. Tough to say definitively, it's been so long since I had the 120H's. I honestly think it's closer than most would think, these SVS's have INCREDIBLE bass for the price. The 120H do have 1000 watts of powered bass per speaker, and are significantly more money, so if memory serves, they have the edge in bass. Again if memory serves, the SVS have better treble.
      That midnight cherry finish on the 120H is amazing. I wish other companies would offer it.

    I heard them at my local (drug) dealer🤪🤪🤪
    And they are hpnestly the only speaker I have heard, that I feel no need for a sub, for music that is. Movies and games has an lfe track, made for subs, so, having subs, no matter the speaker, is better.
    I found the treble to be slightly sharp on the pinacle, but I atribute that to me beeing used to my treated room (I find many speakers to be sharp in the treble region).
    My local dealer, has a lot of cool stuff, heard speakers above 100k, but honestly I would rather have theese🙊

      My current speakers are the JBL HDI 3800’s, and their compression driver amply provides the three items that I mentioned. They certainly don’t have the bass of the SVS, but to my ears is far superior in every other way.
